Derrick and I met through a mutual friend in January of 2010. We started dating on March 16th, during a really difficult time in my life. My parents were going through a divorce and I had just gotten out of a bad three-year relationship. Then six days after we began dating, my father passed away, completely unexpected. Needless to say, I was a complete wreck. Derrick was with me the day it happened and he never left my side; he stayed with me the entire time I was at the hospital, and held me all night as I cried. His loyalty and kindness after dating me for just 6 days was unbelievable. It didn't take long for me to realize, this was my soul mate. Every single day with him, I was the happiest I'd ever been in my life. After dating for 9 months, Derrick proposed. I'm so excited to marry my best friend, the love of my life!
