No sex before wedding?

Combay, on October 9, 2012 at 9:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 56

I'm just wondering if anyone taking a mutual break before the wedding. I asked FH if we could take a month off before our wedding night. Is that dumb?

Oh I don't know if we can do it either, but I want to try and I think the anticipation would be awesome.

I dont think it's dumb. I won't be doing it though, for us sex is a way to unwind and reconnect to and with each other and with the stress of planning this wedding, I definitely need that! Lol

I still need to read that book...

I actually just asked my FH... he doesn't want to do more than 1-2 months but I was actually thinking 3. Call me crazy- but I think that's the point where we would get the most out of abstaining. We'll see what happens when we get closer lol

I haven't brought it up to FH yet.. I think it's sweet and I've heard from friends that it can really bring back some excitement Smiley smile but I can't really picture FH agreeing to it.. It's definitely not dumb!

I think it's dumb. People say it will make the wedding night more special. I disagree. It will make it uncomfortable, and well- he'll finish really fast.

If you were virgins, then wait. But you've been intimate. The last few weeks before the wedding are really stressful. Relieve the stress... And there is no better way to do that then doing it! In addition, you need the emotional closeness sex can bring in those last few weeks of total chaos.

I guess I never saw the point. If anything, I'd think that prolonged abstinence would lead to a) extra crabbiness during wedding planning, and b) wedding night sex that was over almost before it started. However, to each her own.

Whatever you choose to do with your intimate life is not dumb. Whatever works for you and your fiance is your business and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. We waited until our wedding night (first time for both), which is fairly uncommon, but I know many couples who took some time off before their weddings and had no adverse effects.

I told my FH a few months ago, no more sex until the wedding, he said, "we are getting married tomorrow then. We have sex whenever we can since we work different shifts.

No, not dumb at all. I asked FH for three months. He looked at me as if I were speaking in Latin. LOL! He did say ok to one month. Smiley smile Seriously speaking, my FH travels a LOT and when he is at his busiest we can see each other maybe 5 days in a month and those 5 days are not in the same week! So we are quite capable of going without. As a result, the times we are together are wonderful.
