Need a fake out ring!

Koch Bride, on April 4, 2014 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 25

I'm doing a lot of honeymoon planning today and I decided I'd rather leave my rings in our safety deposit box or with my parents while we are gone. My rock is an heirloom piece (originally belonged to FH's great-great grandmother and has been passed down) so needless to say I'm pretty anal about the ring. I'd feel more comfortable while on vacation with a fakey.

Anyone have a website they would recommend? I'd actually love to get a replicate made and my ring would be pretty simple to do, does anyone know where to get that? When I google fake engagement rings all that comes up are stories about fake rings not fake rings themselves!

I got my fake ring on overstock they have a bunch of CZ ones for cheap. all sizes obviously they aren't as shiny but i thought about it and i don't want to go to another country and have people think that i have a huge expensive ring on and rob us or something thats also not very smart lol were going to europe so i get a little paranoid w the pick pocketing there. also check out etsy they have a lot of cute stuff.

That is exactly how I feel! We are going to Costa Rica and I just don't feel comfortable traveling with something so important but I'd also want something that still looks pretty much the same!

These are really pretty and inexpensive. Won't turn your finger green if you go swimming either.

Your ring is beautiful! I've seen cubic zirconia engagement rings in a lot of department stores-Macy's, Lord & Taylor, etc. I'd check those out.

    I. Love. Diamond Nexus! The kicker is that they're not even really fake, but they are lab created, conflict free diamonds. There are a lot of nice rings in their 10k value collection. Not sure what your price range is, but these are roughly under $500. If you're looking for something way cheaper I got my falsie Tungsten wedding band off Amazon for $7. I use Amazon for practically everything.

I would also suggest Overstock. I complimented one of my coworkers on her gorgeous ring one day and she said she got it from overstock. I was shocked!

I'd look on qvc.com or HSN.com. They have some very pretty diamonique rings that look real!

Girl, I will be honest here.. my ring has come from http://www.fantasyjewelrybox.com/

it looks as close to real as it can for being fake honestly. I've been wearing it for over a yr and it's not changed color, turned my finger green etc.

Since I lose things all the time and I'm a very plain jane to so speak it was the best option for me personally. FH actually ordered two .. lol

I've been looking at a simple band for when I go on vacation and swim in the ocean. Knowing me I'll lose it or have it stolen. To me I love my ring so even the replacement of it doesn't compare to my actual ring. What material(s) should I look at to avoid having a green finger or weird looking ring?

I have two wedding bands that go on the top and bottom of my engagement ring. I plan on just wearing those for when I don't feel comfortable wearing my ring somewhere.

@letitsnow... I put my ring through many different things including cleaning products and it has yet to turn my ring etc... it still looks as great as it did over a year and a half ago!

I would just go with a plain gold wedding band for travelling. This won't be your only vacation destination in your life and it's better to travel looking like you don't have wealth. You are way more likely to be a victimized tourist wearing something with bling- fake or real because you will be targeted assuming you have money or access to money. Better safe than sorry. Plus the salt water will ruin a fake ring.

I wear a plain silver band when travelling as well. Even if it's fake, a shiny rock is going to attract attention.

Also, if you're worried about a ring turning your skin green, just dab on a bit of clear nail polish on the inside of the ring (where it touches your skin).

I got a cheap $30 silver band that I wore when we went off our ship and to excursions. I locked my rings in the safety box in our room. I didn't feel the need to wear a fake one on the ship and if I went swimming I didn't wear a ring at all.

Just be careful if youre going anywhere where locals are even with a fake ring on. obviously they cant tell the difference. i went to guatemala this summer for my first out of country experience and obviously left my engagement ring at home. as did everyone else who went. they all just wore plain bands with no diamonds or anything fake on it. nothing to draw attention to them. just be careful!

QVC. I know, it sounds corny, but they really have amazing fakes.
