ThePrincessBride, on March 11, 2013 at 5:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I am planning on inviting about 200 people but not really sure how many will really show? How many people do you guys think will say no? I ask because we are renting the chavari chairs lol trying to get an idea Smiley smile

You really can't use what happened to other people to figure out how many you can expect. There have been brides with 100% show rate from their guests and from those that accepted on their RSVP, some with a 25% show rate from those that accepted their RSVP. It'll depend on how many OOT guests you have and their ability to actually make the trip vs. how many local guests. No tried and true formula that applies to EVERYONE.

You should be able to get a quote for your 200 and be able to adjust closer to your wedding when you have more of your RSVPs back. We didn't finalize our rental agreements until about 2 weeks before our wedding, after we got most of the RSVPs.

Well there were a total of 75 ppl we invited and only 9 didn't show.. Not too bad but I was a little upset especially when they RSVP.. Smh..

All in all you may experience a few ppl not showing up.. Good luck!!

Exactly what Reenski said. Do not be fooled by any estimates or averages you hear. There's absolutely no way of knowing until the wedding day.

We invited 100 and had about 70 at the wedding. It seems like a high decline rate, but I had quite a few people from my family list who were "invite out of obligation knowing they can't/won't come." We also had a few emergencies occur right before our wedding, which caused a few people to cancel last minute.

Oh ok, I was just wondering if it would be ok to just get the chairs based on the rsvps? Would that be okay or should we get a few more to be safe?

Based on the RSVPs, yes, but not based off of just who you invited. You may want to get a few extras or to finish off a table, but if folks didn't RSVP (and you contacted them to try and get an accurate response from them after your RSVP date) and they come anyway, they just won't have a seat. Smiley smile

Still, you should have some time between your wedding date and RSVP date to decide if you want to get exactly how many you need or round up/add extra.

Yea. It just depends on the ppl you invited. I had ppl rsvp and not show and also had some ppl not rsvp but showed up. I even sent reminders to get ppl to rsvp so i would have an idea. Nothing worked. Luckily I had lots of food and it was so good ppl took what was left.

I would order a few more than what your RSVP numbers say, just to be safe. Although it's more frequently the case that fewer people show up, I wouldn't take my chances with not having enough seats.

We invited 270, have 180 RSVP yes currently and still working on finding out about 30. I was getting super nervous, because we thought more people wouldn't be able to come since they're out of state, but don't count on that! At this point, we're fine but I seriously thought/hoped our number would cap at 175.

That is awesome rayray! I would love to have a bunch of ppl at our wedding! Inviting everyone we know we are alittle over 200, but we aren't inviting a lot of kids. Just the ones in the family and close family friends children who are like teenagers ( basically we don't want a lot of small children running around) I really only expect for about 150 to say yes but I will get an extra 10 chairs just in case Smiley winking

Invited 178, had 135 people RSVP, had that same number attend. Worked out perfectly for our venue and I had wanted around 150 people.

Had a higher decline rate since we had a lot of OOT guests who had to travel between 2-5 hours to get to our wedding.

We invited about 170 and had 109 RSVP yes. The high decline rate is due to the fact that the wedding was in South Florida, and almost all of the guests were coming from WI, CA, NJ, PA, OR, MA... you get the idea. We only had two no-shows on the day of.
