Food is served buffet style, so what do you put at the table setting?

Kimi k., on February 28, 2011 at 11:34 AM Posted in Planning 1 61

Help!! The plates will be at the buffet table, so what will I do at the place setting??? Will it look stupid to have nothing? We aren't doing linen napkins....ugh!

I'd do the flatware with your favors in the middle and maybe a menu card where the plate would go.

Are you having silverware? Maybe have the place setting set up for each seat - glasses, silverware, place cards.

Put your flat ware, glasses, napkind, salt and pepper and butter for your buns/rolls/bread on the tables.

Will you have favors at the tables?

    utensils?

Would it cost too much to have welcome letters or dinner menu at the tables?

What is your guest count again? You can do something relatively inexpensive DIY or free vistaprint stuff...

images for those of you that Are doing napkins.

Well, I'm just about to give myself up here...I'm a city-fied country girl. And FH is a country boy, so we are doing buffet style bbq! I refuse to use 'solo' cups (his suggestion), so I'm going to get plastic (the pretty, clear, dainty ones)...and I thought those would be where the tea and all was served...oh heck fire! I think I just lost my mind!

Should I invest in actual glassware?

This is a mock up of our table. THe favor will actually go on the bread plate, on top of a leaf.

Inside our napkins is our mini program because the reception and venue are at the same place, but you could always do a mini menu, or put your napkin in the water glass.

I will be having my favors on the table along with the place card and If I have time to print them, doing little menus so guest will know what they are having before hand. I have tons of stockpaper left over so it will be a project if I can get around to it.

    Good luck!

Carole! That's adorable!!! Smiley smile LOVE IT!!!

Hayley, you have the most awesome ideas! I don't think we need a menu (BBQ is pretty self explanitory in our neck of the woods), HOWEVER maybe a welcome/thank you card would be awesome there!!!!

If you can afford it, I would. lol You'll have extras to keep and can reuse them later for showers or get togethers. Are you havng your wedding inside? What's a solo cup? Is that something you throw away? Bbq? You are braver than me girl!!! lol. I love Italian food but I seem to be a messy eater ONLY while wearing white so we're avoiding anything red or that stains. We're still having Italian, it's just going to be white sauce, but grilled chicken instead of bbq (to FH great despair lol.) What type of look are you going for with your wedding? Country picnic, formal? I think I would look at your entire theme and see if glassware is something that would be an unnecessary expense but if you are going more formal, I would invest.

Also, check out dollar stores for linen napkins or comb target/sears/kohls for sales because a lot of the time they do have sales on pretty much everything.

Option #1 is do the 100 free post cards. You can do 2 separate orders to get 200. With S&H it will be less than $15 for 200.

    Option #2

50 free "rack cards" with vistaprint.

another 100 will only be around $15... but there may be another coupon if you search google that does 25% off whole site? You may need to do 2 orders.

We are definitely going more casual! LOL! A solo cup is a red or blue plastic cup you see when people have kegs! lol! We are laid back, but not THAT laid back! Nice try though FH!

Hayley, I'm going to Vistaprint right now!

I just got my STD from them and LOVE it!
