Does it bother you when people wear jeans to a wedding?

Lucky me, on October 25, 2012 at 3:38 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 57

Just wondering if I'm the only person where seeing people in jeans at a wedding drives them nuts? I want to yell, you do realize your at a wedding?!

I so agree with you!!!! Unless it is a very casual wedding. I went to a wedding not to long ago that was semi-casual and still I hated seeing guys in jeans. Is it really that hard to put on a pair of slacks or even dark blue or black jeans and a buttom down shirt?!!!! That is one of the things I am trying to prevent at ours because we want a black tie event. We are going to post on FB and through word of mouth that we want everyone to wear black and white to our wedding for pics. I hope that it works.

It's insanely rude unless you are instructed otherwise. It could be worse though, one of my bm attended a wedding where the bride's cousin wore effing board shorts and flip flops. All of the other guys were in suits.

This falls into the "I wouldn't waste time worrying about it if it happened to me but I would never do it" category. Unless I specifically stated that it was a black tie affair and in some fancy place I wouldn't get crazy if I saw jeans. That doesn't mean I would EVER do it.....I know better!

I HATE that. I told my DoC to escort anyone in jeans OUT! I was serious. We had a semi formal to formal wedding and I told her I would dead faint if I saw anyone in jeans. I HATE, HATE, HATE that!

I hate it. I mean, unless you are having a dude ranch wedding or you are otherwise encouraged to do so, put on a pair of slacks. And it doesn't need to be super fancy or anything (my aunt asked about this for her son), khakis from Walmart or Goodwill is fine, just dress up a little, please.

I will make some exceptions for shoes, since we're all wearing Converses, but they're all NEW, sparkling Converses, so any sneakers better be clean as heck.

Lol @edubbs maybe I should have security escort people out of my wedding too! Yeah I just don't understnd it...I get it's ok if the bride and groom are having that type of wedding where jeans are ok. Most weddings though are semi formal and I just don't see where people look at a wedding invite and go "Great I have my jeans to wear"!

I've been telling people they can wear jeans Smiley tongue Our wedding is going to be a midday super casual get-together though. Plus, my husband and I are already married so my give a damn is broken.

Yes it bugs me as well. Unless it is a super casual wedding. I hate seeing pics of the bride and groom all "duded" up and then in the background you see someone in jeans. It just throws the whole picture off. But then again, I also hate going to the theater or a concert and people have on jeans. We don't reverence formal occasions anymore.

I agree too Rowena I think at the theatre no jeans should be a rule too! Concerts depends on what type of concert it is!

I really hate this. You should dress according to the occasion and if you don't know or haven't been told the wedding will be casual, you should wear something other than jeans.

I was really surprised I DIDN'T have anyone show up in jeans. I did write on my website that "corporate business casual to semi formal permitted".

Everyone dressed very well - and I was pleased! I had a brunch reception at a public golf club.

Hate it, except for very casual weddings. Hate too short, too tight too low dresses, uggs with tights, sneakers (that are not a style thing, we all know the difference) and track suits.

My first wedding was very small. We planned it in 3 days. But gave our families plenty of notice. Of the 12 total that were there, my family dressed up in dresses and suits. Ex's family showed up in jeans and sweatshirts. We got married in a church, and went to a nice restaurant afterwards. I was never so embarrassed in all my life. Should have been a sign of things to come.

These people are the same ones who think contributing to a potluck Thanksgiving dinner means bringing a case of Budweiser cans.

I can't stand when people dress like they're just going out of the house. Unless it's on a beach it's unacceptable.
