Did you do your own makeup for engagement pics?

I had my FSIL do my make up. She is in beauty school. Other wise, I would have done it myself.

I did it myself. I made it quite a bit heavier and "drier" than I would ordinarily wear so that I wouldn't end up shining and it would show up in the pictures. I have attached one here. In real life, I felt like I had it on REALLY heavy but it turned out really well.

I plan to do my own for my engagement pictures.

I did my own makeup. When every I go to have it done, I usually like it less than when I do it. Not to toot my own horn, but I get a lot of compliments on my makeup in general.

If you do it yourself I would suggest using Estee Lauder Doublewear. A ton of the ladies on this post are using it for their weddings. It provides great coverage.

I plan on getting my make-up done professionally. It'll be a make-up trial to help figure out what type of make-up I'll have on my wedding day & to make sure the makeup artist is who I want to hire for my wedding day

I agree with EDubbsGirl - I went way heavier but it doesn't show up as too much in photos.

I'm gonna do it myself. I don't want much makeup on anyway. Want to keep it natural and not so dramatic. We are doing a beach shoot.

@Skip, me too. I go get it done and wash it right back off! I am REALLY picky about my make-up.

@Amanda, I would definitely get a trial if you are interested, but if you are comfy putting on your own makeup and picky about it like me and Skip, you might want to do your own. Remember for all of this, you want to look like yourself. The last trial I had done, I looked like a CLOWN! I am so glad she did it in my home. I would have been embarrassed to be in public like that! LOL.

Are you DIY engagement makeup brides doing your own wedding makeup as well? What brands or products did you guys use?

I will do my own for my e-pics, but not for my wedding. You just have to be a lil more dramatic with it and pics will come out really great!!!

I had mine done. I don't wear makeup very often and when I do I have a hard time getting it to do what I want it to do. So instead of hassleing with it I had it done.

I did my own makeup in my engagement sessions (pics below), and all I could say is...youtube video tutorials are GREAT. I personally like Michelle Phan's video tutorials for makeup~and FYI~her tips work for ALL ethnicities (not just asians!) because I've use a lot of the tricks she uses on other ethnicities LONG before she came out with those videos, and they're pretty universal (e.g., how to draw a straight line using liquid eyeliner, how to get beautiful colors that stand out on your eyelids by using a cream palette first and THEN the eyeshadow powder in the same color to set it, etc.)

I did my own. I didn't even really think about having it done professionally. I guess I was thinking that the engagement pics should be a 'day in the life of' so I wanted to look every day normal. However, getting pro makeup on the wedding day made me realize that I wish I could hire someone every day. :-)

My cousin did her own makeup for her engagement pics but it was a very day look for her! Pics came out ok but she wasnt too happy after with the choice of doing her own make up! So she regretted it!
