Did you cry when you found "the" dress?

Caitlin, on April 7, 2014 at 1:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 56

I am planning on starting to look for dresses in the near future, and would love to know what all of your reactions were if you have already found yours!

I didn't cry... and that really messed with my head! I kept thinking that I made the wrong choice because I didn't cry, even though I'm certain I really didn't. But the dress did give me a different feeling than all of the others.... almost like butterflies! Good luck, happy shopping, and I can't wait to see what dress you choose!

Nope. I went to try on one dress and I was like, eh, I'll take it. It's an awesome dress, I'm just not the sentimental type I guess!

I remember I was ecstatic and smiling a lot, but no crying from me. My grandma cried when she saw me in it though! Smiley smile

I did not cry, but I knew it was the right dress because I kept wanting to twirl in front of the mirror and didn't want to take it off. And when I tried on other dresses in between meeting & buying my dress, I kept comparing them to mine.

Nope. I said "looks good I'll take it" and got out of there.

Yes and no. I tried to keep from crying but I did tear up a little. I was giggling non-stop from the moment I saw myself.

No, and after years of watching "Say Yes to the Dress", if you think you have to cry when you find the right one, you never will. Go in with no expectations, and just try to enjoy the time. And when you pick a dress, STOP LOOKING!! Because yes, you will find another dress that is just as beautiful, but no, that doesn't mean you need to buy it and try to sell your original!

Nope I didn't cry over the dress and no one who has seen the dress in person cried either. I kind of felt like I wanted my mom or fmil to get emotional over the dress to reassure me it was the right choice. My mom doesn't like the dress I chose. When I first tried on the dress I chose I didn't like it since it contained everything I said I didn't want in a dress (ballgown, bling, train, pickups) but after trying on the dress style I really wanted it did nothing for my body and I kept on comparing all of the dresses to how great the first one looked on me. Ended up going for it and getting something no one will be expecting me to wear.

When I had the dress on there were two other girls in the store who wanted the dress and one of them was going to buy the dress as soon as I look it off so I had to make a quick decision. I got the dress from one of those designer sample discount stores so if I didn't buy it then there was no guarantee it would still be around later. I decided that I must like the dress if I didn't want to take it off and got it so it wouldn't be taken by one of the other two girls.

Not really. I got a little misty eyed when I made the decision, but definitely no crying. My mom couldn't help herself, though, lol.

No. But, I did cry about a half hour later when the owner of the shop came in and reminded me so much of my grandma, who will not be able to attend the wedding because of her health (she will be 105 this August). I doubt that counts though.

I cried when I tried on the first dress, I think it was more that I had never had a wedding gown on before. I love my dress but did not cry when I put it on. I think it was because there were 3 dresses in the running and my sister, mom, FMIL and I were analyzing each dress so it felt more "business" than bridal. I have no doubt that I will cry on my wedding day.

NOPE! I tried on several and didn't really love any of them. I tried this one on, really liked it, bought it and left. I was very happy with my decision but it wasn't emotional for me. I swore I would come unglued during the ceremony and didn't cry at all!

Nope, I only tried on 3 or 4 dresses, but I kept going back to the dressing room and putting 'my' dress back on! I knew it would be hard for me to find something, I didn't want a lot of beading/appliques or lace but I also didn't want anything to plain! So when I found something I liked I bought it instead of looking at a lot of dresses and stressing myself out.

Not really. I got "the feeling" though when I looked over at FMIL and saw her starting to tear up. I knew it was the one.
