Days Off

My friend thinks it's normal to take the week of your wedding off from work. But we are leaving for our honeymoon right after, so I am concerned about taking too much time off. Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to...

Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to ask for too much, and I am also not sure why it's necessary to take a whole week off.

My work still hasn't approved the days off I've requested... So my wedding is on a Sunday and I'm supposed to work Friday Saturday before the wedding and Mon-Wed after the wedding. So my goal is to take the night off before and after the wedding. Luckily the week before the wedding I have four days off because I'm a nurse and I work overnight.
Our honeymoon isn't until October, like a month after. That's for a week. We're going to Scotland and Ireland Smiley smile
Thankfully work approved those days off!

I was planning on taking 3+ days off to get my nails done, get waxed, and just relax before the busy weekend.

I'm currently a contractor for the school system, so I have the leisure of scheduling myself. Our prospective honeymoon will be a week. I have a Saturday wedding so I'll have to take the Friday before the wedding off to organize everything prior to decorating.

We're doing a Tuesday wedding and leaving for the honeymoon immediately after, so one full week off and back to work on Monday. If I were having a weekend wedding, I don't think I'd take more than Friday off.

I am a speech language pathologist and work in the home health setting. I will get all my visits in before Wednesday hopefully so I can take off that Thursday and Friday before!

So my fiancé is in the military, so after we get married I’m moving out of state, I’m quitting my job like 3 weeks before we get married. So I can focus on the wedding as well spend some time with my family before I move away. Where not doing a honeymoon until next year, he’s going to have a week off after the wedding to help me move their, as well help with unpacking stuff before he goes back to work, then I’ll find a job after we settle down a bit.

Our original plan was to take the two days off before. Since our honeymoon is 10 days. But now I have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. However if I couldn’t I would not be taking a whole week off. That’s a lot of work to miss.

I’m taking the full week before off, but I’m getting married 4 days after Christmas so it will be to travel home and spend the holidays with family too. But, a friend of mine DID recently get married, and said she only took 2-3 days off before the wedding and regrets it/wishes she took off more. She said you just never know what can happen! If anything, you can just relax!

I am taking half a day Wednesday, All day Thursday and all day Friday. I have a few errands to run, but honestly it’s so I can see my friends and family traveling in. So many people are out of town and a lot are coming in starting that Thursday. My bridesmaids are throwing me a bridal brunch Friday morning and the rehearsal is Friday night, so I needed that whole day. Thursday and Wednesday day i can run my few errands and see friends/family in between or later in the day.

It really sounds like 3 days off before is the magic number. I have a weird situation where my rehearsal is on Friday but my wedding is on Sunday. So we actually booked a hotel and decided to split the sexes and have some fun/relaxation time with each side of our wedding party. I think, with that in mind, I might take Wednesday and Thursday off before - just because I may need time to stress out before I see family and friends Smiley laugh .

A massage sounds PERFECT, I was going to do an airbrush tan but I am so pale and I fear it will make me orange Smiley xd

I only plan to take the day before and Monday after for wedding and planned honeymoon over thanksgiving break so I don’t have to take any days, my fiancé will have to take 1 day for honeymoon as our breaks are different (we both work in schools)
