Days Off

My friend thinks it's normal to take the week of your wedding off from work. But we are leaving for our honeymoon right after, so I am concerned about taking too much time off. Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to...

Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to ask for too much, and I am also not sure why it's necessary to take a whole week off.

I am taking the Friday and Saturday off (Sunday wedding) and I typically have Tuesday and Wednesday off but I may take the whole week afterwards off to write out the thank you notes and such. My FH isn’t taking any days beforehand off (he’s a teacher and we’re getting married on a Sunday so he automatically has the day before off) but I told him it would be a quick marriage if he didn’t take at least Mon-Wed off the following week (i’m Mostly kidding lol) but i’m Planning a mini-moon for those days

Our wedding is on a Sat. I am working 1/2 day on Thursday and taking Friday off. We leave for the honeymoon Sunday so I will be back to work the following Monday. I am relatively new to my job and I don't have much time banked just yet

I would definitely say it depends on the couple and what errands and small details are needed right before the wedding. Also if you plan to go on your honeymoon right after. We're getting married on a Thursday and I will probably we'll probably just take off the Tuesday and Wednesday before to run any last minute errands, nail appointment, haircuts for the guys, etc. Wednesday for rehearsal and to set up the venue and Thursday the big day! We are leaving for our honeymoon right after. We're taking a 7 day cruise leaving from Port Canaveral, FL. So that Friday, we'll probably leave for Florida and spend the night there before our cruise leaves Saturday afternoon.

I’ve taken two weeks off before my wedding and a week and a half after. Im lucky though because I am a nurse so even though il be gone for 3.5 weeks, I’m only using 9 days of vacation for honeymoon and wedding!
I (obviously) think it’s definitely worth it to take time off before your big day, not just to take care of details but to mentally prepare yourself for your big day!

We took off the Thursday before our Friday wedding. Packed our car and the best man's car up Wednesday night then drove the 4 1/2 hours to Maryland on Thursday, had our rehearsal and dinner Thursday night, married on Friday and left for the honeymoon on Saturday. I'm a very organized person and had everything ready to go already in labeled tubs, and had a checklist I'd made up in the weeks leading up to the wedding of things we could not forget. Honestly, I don't know what I would have done with extra time off before the wedding. Everything was already planned and packed. It worked out perfectly.

I plan on taking off that Thursday & Friday before the wedding & taking off Sunday & Monday after the wedding. I just started my job but it’s part time & I told them ahead of time I need that weekend off. We will taking a honeymoon later down the road since we won a honeymoon package that doesn’t expire until November 2020. FH is taking the same amount of days off as well

This is what I am planning to do since my wedding is this Saturday. Going into the office on Tuesday, teleworking Wednesday, off Thursday and Friday. I've been taking care of some work stuff this weekend, so I will probably end up with Wednesday off as well. The days off will allow me to greet out of town guests, take care of last minute items that I don't want others doing, etc.

I will also be out for two weeks after the wedding with some telework involved!

I will be taking at least 1 day off before my wedding, debating about taking 2. I think it will be helpful to get things done but also not cut into my finances by taking any unpaid time off.

For the wedding I’m taking 3 days off before the wedding and 1 day off the Monday after the wedding(Wedding is on a Saturday) the honeymoon is booked to start roughly 10 days after the wedding so I go back out to work and then take another 10 days off for the honeymoon. I personally too the 3 days off for final errands and relaxation. The one day off after the wedding is to recuperate because my fiancé’s birthday is the Sunday lol

I guess it's up to the bride. I'm doing a lot of DIYs so I feel like taking the whole week is necessary for me but that being said, I have been doing things before hand (mind you I'm one year away) so I'm slowly doing things and getting ready so maybe I don't take too much time off. We aren't going on a honeymoon right after but since I have two part time jobs, and part time jobs don't pay you unless you work, I'm trying to see if I can take at least 2 days before the day. But I am planning as of now taking the whole week, Monday to Friday and Friday is our wedding so I still have to take Friday off anyway.

I am taking the week before so I have time to do small things and get ready for the honeymoon. Then the week after for my honeymoon. Luckily Labor Day is also the weekend before my return so I get a couple extra days before

Our wedding falls on a Saturday & we’re taking 10 days off with 6 days paid for. I think 10 is normal, anything after that is pointless. We leave for our lil honeymoon Monday and return Friday for work Saturday.

So I work in sales, and I’m basically chained to my desk lol I’m only planning on taking a day or two off before hand. Honestly I’ll probably request like Wednesday-Sunday/Monday (wedding is Saturday) off, and wing it. If I go into work, I go into work lol

I need to drop the work stress off before my event and I want to have unfettered time to handle any last minute items and really just relax and savor the moment. With that said I am taking off the Thursday and Friday before the wedding day, the week after, and the Mon and Tuesday after that. My FH will be taking off the Friday before and the week after.

You at least need a few days before the wedding to make sure you have everything in place.

We are taking 4 days total. Our wedding is on a Saturday, so I am taking Friday off. Then we are headed to our honeymoon destination Sunday, the day after our wedding and will be returning late Wednesday. So with it being a weekend we wont be taking too much time off work.
