Days Off

My friend thinks it's normal to take the week of your wedding off from work. But we are leaving for our honeymoon right after, so I am concerned about taking too much time off. Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to...

Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to ask for too much, and I am also not sure why it's necessary to take a whole week off.

It depends on personal preference, vacation allowance, and if you and/or your spouse can afford to take additional time outside of vacation allowances, professional responsibilities, and outstanding commitments.

I had to take a medical leave which zapped all my vacation and personal time and I've had to build up my time for the last 8 months, so I will be taking half of the Thursday and all day Friday off before my Saturday wedding. I hope it'll be enough. We're leaving on Sunday afternoon for our honeymoon!

My sister (MOH) took of the week of my wedding but I didn't lol! I start school the following week and will not be able to work nearly as much soo Im getting the time in while I can but I will only be working Monday & Tuesday so that I will still have time to do anything that's needed.

My work week is Monday-Friday. My wedding is Friday. My last day will be Tuesday or Wednesday. Not sure yet. I know Thursday I am doing manicure and pedicure and getting all decorations together. I wanted to take a few extra days off just in case something happens.

I’m taking 3 days off before my wedding, however we’re traveling for our wedding. Taking a 10 day honeymoon. All in all, we’ll be off work for 17 days.

I took off two week, because I did not have a wedding planner and had to plan it all on my own, and I'm also full time in school at UF. It was quite the balancing act, but I think most jobs understand that there's a lot that goes into making the big day run smoothly. We're waiting to take our Great Britain honeymoon next summer.
