Days Off

My friend thinks it's normal to take the week of your wedding off from work. But we are leaving for our honeymoon right after, so I am concerned about taking too much time off. Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to...

Do you feel like it was really helpful/important to take several days off before your wedding? How many? I don't want to ask for too much, and I am also not sure why it's necessary to take a whole week off.

I think 2 - 3 days would be more than enough.

I’m getting married on a Saturday and plan to take Tuesday-Tuesday off. My ceremony/reception is at my father’s home, so I am doing everything for the wedding (aside from catering). I’ll need the time to do all of this. Also, I have several family members flying in early and would love to spend some time with them.

I have been going back and forth with this myself ugh. Our wedding is on Fri, May 15, 2020 and I treat my vacay days like golden eggs Smiley smile Right now plan is take off Wed/Thurs/Fri and return to work Monday. As we plan to go on our honeymoon the following week for 8-10 days. We are ALL hard working Brides To Be and owe it to ourselves.

I'm taking the Thursday and Friday before, Thursday to have a day alone with my mom, and Friday to get my flowers, get our things to the venue, take my car to the hotel an hour away the limo is taking us to, and trying to get to rehearsal by 5p (which I don't typically get off till 5p). I am also taking the full next week and the following Monday...Honeymoon for 7 days then taking the day to change my name Monday. I work in the court system, and we issue marriage licenses so I know the process can be all day so I am going to take off to take care of business. After 13 years I've got a little time saved Smiley winking

I'm in the same boat, and I think 3 days is PLENTY. Seriously, I don't think it's necessary for a whole week off before your wedding, although for some people it probably just helps with the final details and keeping the stress away. If you plan right and well ahead of time, then you won't have any need for a whole week off. I'll be taking care of all the important final details a few weeks before so that I don't feel frazzled when we're a few days away!

I'm working all week and only a half of a day on Thursday. We are leaving for the hotel on Friday and getting married on Saturday and then going on our honeymoon for a week.

My wedding is the Monday immediately following Thanksgiving. I own my own business, so I'm taking a half day Tuesday (maybe. We'll see lol) and I'm taking all day Wednesday off before the wedding. (We're already closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, and we arent open on the weekends.) That way I can finish any last minute details. Then we're leaving for our honeymoon the day after the wedding, so I'll take off that Monday-Saturday, and go back to work the following Monday. FH has to work Monday and Tuesday the week before, but his boss told him to take a half day Wednesday if I need him, and then he has Thursday and Friday off. So, its whatever works best for you.

Our wedding is a destination wedding and I work a Monday- Friday 9-5 job so does FH. We are working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and leaving out of town right after work on Wednesday and driving through the night. We will be in TN on Thursday morning to do our marriage license and what not. All our friends will come in on Friday and Saturday and our wedding is on Sunday. We are staying in TN until Wednesday morning then heading to Savannah GA till Saturday when we get home. We will recoup Sunday and back to work that Monday. So we took 2 days before and the entire week after off.

I will be moving to another state after the wedding, so I’m actually quitting my job about 2 weeks before the wedding in order to move and get ready for the big day.

But I’m also doing my honeymoon next year , my fiancé and I just bought a house so we would to get settled in and stuff before going anywhere . ❤️

Our best man/FH best friend is getting married a week before us, since I work full time and overtime if needed, I plan on taking about a week and a half off, basically the Thursday for his wedding on the 12th through the Monday after our wedding since I've been planning long distance and will use the time to finish any last minute details. I contemplated working the three days of the week of our wedding but decided the headache of trying to answer questions and travel plans wasn't worth it.

Little to none. By the end of this month, I will be giving my two weeks notice at work. After we get married, I am moving out of this area and headed south where he is.
