Cutting the Cake - what song are you playing??

Dex, on June 2, 2012 at 10:54 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

Started searching for a cutting the cake song and the only one that jumped out at me was "Eat It" by Weird Al. Unfortunately, FH said I am the only one that will think its funny...so back to the drawing board.

What song are you ladies using to smash face in your man's face? Smiley smile

My daughter did not have a cake cutting song. Nor did they cake smash. Any cake smashing and I would have had to kick both of their arses! Cake smashing in my world = tacky to the power of 10.

@Dawn...LOL! No, no fear in the guests. LOL!

Too each their own on this one. Some love cake smashing, others hate it. I have a feeling it is one of those love it or hate it, not much middle ground, thing. LOL!

Thanks Dawn. FH found it on WW and wanted. I really don't care.

We are thinking about have the BP and our parents standing there with us as we cut the cake. FH and I think this will bring more attention to the cake cutting. Even though we are having cupcakes and cookies as well. (FH loves Ms Fields)

Ugh I love EAT IT! That is so funnnnnnyyy... I would think it's the best song ever! My server has "Cake or Death?" from Eddie Izzards "Dress to Kill" show engrabved on it.

We're using "Chocolate" by Sarah McLachlan

I honestly have no clue if we had a cake cutting song. We didn't specifically tell our DJ one. She may have played something? I have no clue. I'm sure if we didn't have anything playing, the silence wasn't the awkward part of our cake cutting. The awkward part was how it took us about 5 tries to actually lift out the slice of cake that we cut.

We didn't smash cake. The whole tradition of feeding each other the cake is to symbolize how the bride and groom will take care of each other. Personally, I feel smashing cake is disrespectful. My DH is a jokester too, but I warned him that I would be really upset with him if he smashed cake in my face. Luckily for him, he behaved Smiley tongue

I'm SOOOO glad I read this thread, I totally havent thought of a cake song yet. Now I will.

Cake smashing is funny to watch. But I've already made a stern deal with FH: if he smashes cake on me, he will spend wedding night on the couch. joking, but also serious. If I'm taking hours to perfect my hair & makeup, why the heck do I want to ruin my beauty with sugar filled cake? Not to mention any lingering pieces smearing on my dress.

My SIL & brother did smash, she ended up washing half her makeup off.

Now I need to research songs

So... I also need to think of a song to cut the cake to? Aggghhh! (LOL) Will anyone even notice that detail? Of any wedding I've been to, I can't remember a single song they cut the cake to. I guess, as long as it is meaningful to you both, than the decision should not even matter to anyone else, but the two of you! Best wishes on your marriage!

Amy: I guess that's why I didnt even think I need a song for it, cuz whose really gonna hear it? Isn't everyone focused on the cake, a song would be white noise right?

Im wondering about a song now, but may not even care to do it.

Now onto the anniversary song! Thinking about using "I won't give up" by Jason Mraz

A Wink and A Smile by Harry Connick Jr. There will be no smashing for us. If FH ruins my makeup or gets cake on my dress, I will be less than happy.
