Are Wedding Favors a Must?

Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? I don't want to seem cheap, but we are almost over budget and one part of my brain says "I am paying for food and desert and everything else, the experience should be enough". I have been to plenty weddings, grabbed favors and threw them away shortly thereafter. The other part of my brain says "Don't be ratchet, have the favors". Honestly, I feel like they are a waste of money. Am I wrong?

I personally don’t think favors are a must. Most weddings I’ve been to do a candy bar. The last one we went to didn’t have either. We are doing them because I think it will tie the theme together. We are doing an Italy theme and doing mini olive oil bottles as favors.

Hey Marla, no I will have the guestbook there for everyone to sign. Are you skipping? I am having a hard time finding the one that catches my eye. Makes me want to just get one made. I don't know yet.

LisaMarie, what if we only did something cute for the guests to do during the send off? I want that to be more memorable for them also.

Well my MOH is my older sister sooo she knows EVERYTHING I am dealing with financially so when she told me her idea she told me not to worry about paying for anything. My sister stepped up to the plate herself. I wouldn’t have directly asked that of her though. I also noticed in another reply someone asked if you’d have a guest book. I wanted to share this idea with you and with whoever else reads this response SO on Amazon they sell picture frames that are meant to be signed by guests and in the middle you can place a lovely image of you and your hubby from your engagement shoot or even a wedding day photo. I’ll share the link for anyone interested. I didn't want a regular guestbook because that gets put away and never seen again and this frame can be hung in your home.https://www.amazon.com/dp/b072mhgwj6/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_bsnqdbmh3jgbj

I will not be doing favors. It seems that guests often throw them away.

My fiancé and I aren’t doing favors! Instead we’re making donations to two different foundations that mean a lot to us and we’re going to make a sign that states “instead of favors, we have made a donation to these two foundations in everyone’s honor”.

I think most favors end up in peoples trash cans unfortunately. So we are opting to skip it at the wedding. But there are alternatives to the traditional favors! We may do something consumable for out of town family or guests that we give the night before when we see them! I also saw a cute idea online where people could take home leftover desserts from the wedding in little to go boxes that had a stamp on the box with the couple's names or "thank you" which seems like a nice low waste and low cost way to send people off with a late night treat.

Oo! I've been to a couple weddings that people signed custom boards that now hang as art in the couple's homes. Sounds kind of lame on paper-- but looks awesome if you're sentimental and would hang something like that Smiley smile I'm waffling on guest books-- I like the polaroid ones where people can write under their picture. Instant wedding album Smiley smile

I’m planning my wedding and been thinking about this as well. We decided we’re going to have a candy buffet / sweet treats table as our favors. Guests can fill up their bags with all the treats they want. I rather put money into having that vs traditional favors that people will usually toss or forget about.

No one is going to go home and think "wow I didn't get a favor". They're going to think about the food and if they had fun. I'm doing a candy bar and they can fill a little bag of candy, that will be their favors. Don't worry it though, most people will be too drunk to even remember their favors.

I do not want to do favors but my FH thinks they are necessary. I personally think they are a waste because people throw them out or leave them. I throw them out when I get them!! If I do anything it will be a spice mix or flavored olive oil

We're opting for edible wedding favors. First we'll do a "snack pack"--paper bags with a bag of potato chips (the brand is my fiance's last name) and a bag of coconut chips (the brand is my last name), then sealing each bag with a custom wedding sticker. Useful, memorable, and funny.

We'll also have 2 french macaron towers, instead of an actual wedding cake, since our 3 course dinner already includes individually plated cake for dessert. We'll put out some custom treat bags so people can grab a few on their way out, or they can just eat them during the dancing.

I get it Jakia. I'd rather have something you know everyone will eat or use.

Jessie, you are so right. Our reception is going to be so fun, I pray no one even thinks of favors.
