Are Wedding Favors a Must?

Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? Hey Ladies. Are there any of you who are NOT giving out wedding favors? Are they an absolute must? I don't want to seem cheap, but we are almost over budget and one part of my brain says "I am paying for food and desert and everything else, the experience should be enough". I have been to plenty weddings, grabbed favors and threw them away shortly thereafter. The other part of my brain says "Don't be ratchet, have the favors". Honestly, I feel like they are a waste of money. Am I wrong?

Yvana, I agree with you. What is MOH makes them and pays for it as well? Is that an option?

Favors are not necessary. its up to the bride and groom if they want to do favors. like you said, you've gotten wedding favors and then thrown them out shortly afterwards

Nothing Bundt Cakes are SO GOOD. I would totally take one (or more haha)

Of 3 weddings I've been in, only one did favors and I think the majority of guests didn't take one (sunflower seeds, since her theme was sunflowers). Even her photo booth hardly got used.

My fiancé is South African, and I've considered having him make biltong (A South African kind of beef jerkey) since we're both obsessed and most of our American guests have never had it, as a nod to his home. Or, I might order a handful of throw blankets to use around the campfire at the end of the night (but not enough to give one per person, just a few if someone wants one). Otherwise, I'm not doing favors. Both of my ideas are ones that we'll definitely use if guests don't take them.

So, I'd say they're not necessary, but if you do decide to have favors make sure it's not something that you would have sitting in storage forever.

Melissa, OMG I remember that also. I have been to weddings and we left with the centerpiece. OMG I may do that because that will be a lot of stuff to have left over. I'm making them myself so it will mean a lot to me if they take something that I created. Thanks for the insight.

Thank you dear. You are so right. My guest will have free food and cocktails, a live party, I think that is good enough.

At my wedding I just did a couple of poems on paper and then put a ring around them.

Hey Joy, I thought about a candy table as well, but I am still not sure yet. It will be a last minute decision.

Camilla, too bad, we aren't inviting kids Lol. But i get it, when I was a kid, I took plenty of favors just to have but then threw them away or some got lost.

I agree that they are a waste! I am doing tea bags that have our names on them because they are cheap and cute. At least if no one takes them, I can use them for tea later. Lol

Favors are definitely not necessary. I’ve been to maybe 50 weddings in the past few years and no one has had favors, and all the weddings were great! I wouldn’t worry about it.
