Anyone nervous about weddings next year, as well?

Melinda, on May 19, 2020 at 1:38 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

Hello everyone,

My fiance and I may have to postpone our 10 person wedding in France this September to September 2021. I have to wait end of June for my venue to let me postpone. I can't get any of my money back, but I can postpone as much as I need to. I'm just worried about waiting a whole year just to be told I can't have the wedding again.

Anyone else feel this way as well?

On the bright side, I never wanted a huge wedding, and our extended family were originally upset that my fiance and I were doing such a small wedding. Now with COVID, it feels like there will be no hate anymore from extended family. It sucks because we started planning our small wedding July of 2019, and it now feels like it'll never happen.

I'm nervous. Pulling the plug on my July wedding and postponing to May 2021. While I am nervous about 2021 too, there will be a year of being able to see how weddings will go for those who want to carry on. At this point I have zero information about what a wedding like mine would look like this summer and what concessions I would need to make in order to have one. Unfortunately that probably won't happen before it would be too late to postpone and I really don't want to be left scrambling to come up with a new plan.

Well I can say this at least people have time to save more money and so do you and your FH.

    Hi Melinda,

I know it's a tough time, but it's helpful that your venue has set a deadline for deciding to postpone. It's also reassuring to know that you won't lose any of your money due to postponement. You're certainly not alone in your concern about next year. Here are two other discussions with 2021 couples:
