Where to begin?
From our engagement session with Tim and his fun/sweet wife, Candy, to our wedding day ... Tim and Candy became so dear to us.
Tim's style is natural, insightful, and REAL. None of that stiff, forced kind of photography. Neither my husband nor I are great in front of cameras, but Tim had a way of making the camera a friend rather than an intruder. As a result, he captured photos that were incredibly skilled, natural, and representative of us!
My husband is a photographer himself, so from the beginning of wedding planning, finding a good photography was a priority for him. As he put it, "At the end of the wedding, all you'll have left of it is the photos." And we couldn't be happier with our photos. We can't wait to share them with our friends and family (and future family!) for years to come.
Thanks, Tim. Truly.

If you are looking for a talented, personable and all-around wonderful photographer, Tim Sohn is your man! He has the knack for capturing photos of you that are full of life and bring out your essence. At the start of our engagement session, we were slightly nervous from lack of experience in front of the camera, but Tim's easygoing demeanor and timely, unintrusive instructions made us feel at ease. When we got our proofs, we were extremely pleased with how our photos turned out. Tim had managed to show glimpses of our personality in each series of colorful and vibrant photos while making us look like rockstars! Again, if you are looking for awesomeness in a photographer, Tim Sohn is the person to go to - you won't regret it!

Working with Tim was absolutely wonderful and easy from the very beginning. He listened to us, asked us questions, and was a ton of fun to work with. Our entire wedding party really liked him and our pictures are absolutely incredible. We especially loved that Tim was able to capture individual portraits of us and our guests. We can't recommend him highly enough!

I don't think I can explain how amazing it has been to work with Tim for our wedding, but I'll give it a shot.
First our engagement session was really fun! Tim is so willing to run around to get great shots. His wife assisted him and they were such a great team, and it was nice to have a girl there to help keep my bangs in line! Tim was even so nice as to offer to do a session with us where we live in the San Diego area. We ended up opting for our home town, but we were so happy that he was willing and flexible to help us out!
The wedding day was sooo amazing, Tim came to shoot the girls at the hotel and had a associate photographing my man and the boys where they were getting ready. I had these dreams of large vast landscape shots and Tim totally delivered! So dramatic! I'm really having a hard time putting into words how great it was to work with Tim! He has such a great way of making you feel comfortable in front of a camera and positioning you to get those great shots. Mostly he is able to capture the best and most candid moments.
A side note: I found Tim through my mom who is an Event and Wedding Coordinator. She knows her stuff and works with a ton of photographers. Tim really left an impression on her at a wedding she did because he was so organized and nice. When she showed me his work I knew he would be perfect. His photographs are clean, modern and honest. Worth every single penny.

Etraordinary quality without having to pay an arm and a leg: Tim charges very reasonable rates for unreasonably extraordinary pictures.
* Stellar service. Clear, easy-to-understand prices and contract.
* FUN photoshoots, for both the engagement session (e-session) and actual wedding day. I'm not a big fan of getting my picture taken, but Tim and his wife Candy made it a lot of fun! Tim would give us some guidance for poses and such, but it all felt natural and not like we were plastic dolls being posed for shots
* Great non-human portraits!: I got married at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (aka Wild Animal Park) and Tim took some amazing pictures of the animals.
* Photo style: I love his "classic" style of photography. The photos are beautifully composed with perfect lighting. He doesn't use trendy photo manipulation techniques that will look dated years down the road, but instead has photos that will stand up to the test of time, despite changing fashions.
* Wedding album: it's perfect. It's a work of art. It captured our day exactly as we imagined.
* Complete satisfaction: our parents were absolutely thrilled with the pictures, beyond words. Lots of comments from friends/family on how great Tim's photos were.
I'm SO happy that Tim was our photographer. On top of all his artistic merits, he and his wife Candy are truly delightful people who enjoy what they do, and they are both complete pros at weddings. Check out his website and portfolio, and book a date with him! [check out a more detailed review on Yelp]

Tim was great in providing quick response when we needed him the most. We were looking for an event photographer and couldn't have done better with our choice. He was courteous and constantly looking for opportunities where it existed. Our shots turned out fantastic and the turnaround for the photos were exceedingly quick.
One nice plus is the fact that he also has a nifty iPhone application so you can quickly pass along the photos to others as well.
I can't recommend him enough. His hard working demeanor and constant ability to adapt to the situation is great as we didn't have enough time to give a full rundown of the days' events beforehand. If I have a family event or any other formal occasion I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Tim was the best wedding photographer we could have asked for. In reviewing tons of other portfolios and seeing wedding photographers' work at bridal fairs, Tim's work stood out to us as being just what we wanted. Many photographers we saw had the same repetitive style, regardless of the couple, which made the photographs all about them as artists rather than about the couple. In contrast, Tim's photographs are very natural, nicely composed, and tell a unique story about each couple.
He is an extremely talented, dedicated, friendly, and flexible photographer. I am not comfortable at all in front of cameras, especially when dressed up and in the spotlight, so what he did was no small feat. Tim was extremely patient in working with us during our engagement photo session and on our wedding day. Because it rained on the day of our engagement photo session, he even took us out for another photo shoot a week later, when the weather was better.
Before the wedding, Tim helped us through identifying which pictures would be most important to us on our wedding day. He is extremely organized and was great at talking us through every single question that we had.
During the wedding, Tim did an amazing job of capturing not only the moments we wanted, but also lots of moments and details that we didn't even get to appreciate on that busy day. He was completely unobtrusive and was polite and friendly to our guests, which was critical during the family group picture sessions.
After the wedding, we received our photos in good time. They were extremely well presented on his online gallery, which made is very easy to show the pictures to our friends and family. We couldn't have asked for a better set of picture memories to share with them.
I highly recommend Tim Sohn Studios, especially to those of you who are looking for a photographer who actually listens and takes the time to treat your special day with an incredible amount of professionalism and care.

Tim Sohn Studio went above and beyond our expectations. He was very patient since we had kids in our wedding and was able to capture the great moments that we will treasure forever!

Aside from the amazing quality of his work, I've had the privilege of knowing Tim as a friend. And the qualities I admire in his personal character really show through in his work as well, from his calm demeanor that any bride would appreciate on a rather busy day as her wedding day, to his flexibility and patience throughout the day. He carries himself with complete professionalism, and at the same time shows care for the people he is working with. And you would not be disappointed with the results of his hard work! My husband and I were blown away at our wedding photos. They captured the most intimate and special moments of the day, with each other, with our family and closest friends.

We loved having Tim Sohn as our wedding photographer! He took a good combination of photo-journalistic pictures and traditional pictures which is what we wanted. He listened to our wishes and also came up with creative ideas we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. He was enjoyable, professional, and fun. And he has great prices compared to other photographers in the area and a good variety of packages to fit your needs, plus he is flexible if you want to make changes to them. We are very happy with the way our wedding pictures turned out, and our friends and family haven't stopped complimenting them too! We would recommend Tim Sohn Studios to any of our friends.

We got married July 2010 and are very pleased with Tim Sohn as our engagement and wedding photographer.
1) Gives information without giving pressure
2) Flexible and accommodating
3) Responsive / Quick
4) Photo Magic!
1) Gives information without giving pressure
~Offers helpful possibilities and suggestions without pressure.
~When you decline, he's cool and still very helpful and eager!
~I.e.: At first i declined e-session which was suggested by him as something that is helpful and fun before the wedding. I also declined 2nd photographer. Later on i ended up adding an e-session which we did not regret but Tim was supportive/helpful through all my changes. Which segways well into...
2) Flexible and accommodating
~Worked with my budget and we got all that we wanted.
~Went well over the e-session time allotted.
~Even brought his wife Candy to help during e-session (NOT part of the package btw!!)
~Researched possible shooting locations for our pre-wedding shoots. He gave various suggestions based on his experience and research but we ended up calling the shots.
~When my father's friends were all up during the wedding taking pictures Tim was patient and never rude.
~Very respectful- important to traditional elderly Koreans i.e.: half our wedding guests!
3) Responsive / Quick
~Always replied to e-mails and questions.
~Even way AFTER our wedding whenever I had questions he was helpful (I wanted a couple pictures that were b&w in color), had questions about resolution, etc.
~VERY quick turn-around- I think it was like 5 or 6 weeks after our wedding!
4) Photo Magic!
~Of course when all is said and done... Are the pictures good?
~YES! I like Tim's style because it is well-balanced. I didn't like the TOO artsy fartsy style or some photographers, even though I do like some artsy creative shots. I think Tim's style is a good mix of: traditional, beautiful, fun, creative. He does a good mix of far landscape-y shots, whole body shots, and face shots. He also does a good job of capturing emotion.
~Tim is also patient and accommodating WHILE taking pictures. Again, gently makes suggestions but is open to whatever we are doing too. Also very reassuring ("That's perfect," "Try this out.. Put your hand right there.. there we go let's try that...")
