Facilities and Capacity

The University of Maryland Memorial Chapel is composed of two chapel venues and a variety of garden ceremony spaces. The Main Chapel, which can host up to 300 guests, is an elegant red-brick structure that is distinguished by white columns and a belltower. Set against the church your wedding photos are sure to be phenomenal. This backdrop is bordered by a bright green lawn and mature trees that match the impressive height of the chapel. Walk down the aisle under a vaulted ceiling and seat your guests comfortably within the classic pews. The Garden Chapel is a smaller, more rustic venue and seats up to 100 guests. Filled with natural light that streams through large windows, the traditional interior gives this chapel a cozy atmosphere. The baby grand piano is a charming addition to this intimate wedding setting. Couples may also choose from the many garden spaces on the Memorial Chapel grounds if they wish to have an outdoor ceremony.

Services Offered

Couples booking their wedding ceremonies at the Memorial Chapel are entitled to a selection of services and amenities. The chapel can provide professional sound equipment and instruments for any music-related needs. Couples can also avail of the two dressing rooms on-site for wedding preparations. Hosting over 100 ceremonies annually, this highly qualified staff is on-hand to provide the best experience possible and to help with all event rentals. Furthermore, they can help you organize the marriage license and offer advice regarding the best nearby reception venues. An event manager will also be present at the rehearsal and on the big day to ensure seamless transitions throughout the event. A wedding reservation at Memorial Chapel includes:

• 2 hours and 45 minutes in the Main Chapel on your wedding day (2 hours and 30 minutes in the Garden Chapel).
• A 90-minute rehearsal on the Thursday or Friday evening before your wedding.
• The services of a Chapel Event Manager at your rehearsal and wedding.
• The use of Chapel sound system, musical instruments, furnishings and altar pieces during your ceremony
• ​Two dressing/prep rooms for Main Chapel reservations or one dressing/prep room for Garden Chapel reservations on your wedding day.
• Lovely garden and Labyrinth, perfect for picture taking.
• Local parking accommodation with advanced notice.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of a cancellation, the Chapel retains the deposit fee. In event of cancellation made prior to six (6) months of the wedding date, the Chapel retains the deposit fee; other payments are returned to the Licensee. In the event of a cancellation made less than six (6) months before the wedding date, the Chapel retains the deposit fee and no refund will be issued.
