Historic Wedding Venues in San Diego

We had a December wedding here with 180 people and had so many people tell us that it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. The flow of the venue is absolutely perfect for a crowd and had plenty of little spaces to hangout but still felt intimate. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The bridal salon was perfect to get ready with all the bridesmaids and the boys loved the speakeasy. The venue is all outside with a heated tent. We rented space heaters for cocktail hour but the tent was nice and cozy for a chilly December night. We opted for the satellite bar during happy hour and everyone said they got their drinks FAST! We were extremely impressed with the bartending staff and they even let us do a signature cocktail. You also provide all of your own liquor and mixers which was a huge plus if you want open bar with a big crowd. The food was amazing, we did family style, and everyone raved about it. The family style is perfect so tables don’t feel bad getting table called last to the buffet. We did beef, chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans; people’s only complaint was that there was too much food. The staff was outstanding and attentive. Our wedding coordinator, Gina, was so helpful and informative throughout the entire planning process. She is so organized and made me go into our wedding with no stress knowing I would be in good hands. Katie was our bridal assistant, she is such a gem. She was so sweet bringing us champagne and checking in on us all day while getting ready. The star of the show was the manager, Billy. Billy absolutely crushed it and made sure everything went smoothly. He checked on me all day and even carried by bags and escorted me to our party bus on the way out. Overall we had the most magical wedding and can’t thank Twin Oaks and all their staff for making our day so special.

With most of our guests visiting San Diego from out of town, we wanted to have a wedding weekend welcome party in a San Diego hot spot - Old Town. We originally had our sights set on Barra Barra, however - in connecting with Lisa, she lead us in the perfect direction to hold our special event in the courtyard of The Cosmopolitan. Lisa was incredibly kind and patient through multiple postponements from the start of planning our event in early 2019 to finally celebrating July 2, 2022. Our guests found the party to be such a treat - great atmosphere, food, music and drinks. Thank you to Lisa and her team for coordinating a special evening to welcome our wedding guests to San Diego!

Julie and the Epic Events team have been a pleasure to work with so far in our wedding process. Choosing and researching a venue can be stressful, as we all know, but through her and her team's communication, it has been a tremendous help. They have answered every question or concern promptly and enthusiastically. They were clear and thorough when touring the venue and detailing the timeline leading up to the wedding and wedding day, and we can't wait to see the final result for ourselves. Highly recommend the Epic Events team for all your wedding needs!

My wife and I recently had our wedding reception here. The venue is reasonably priced based on today's market and offer also offer reasonably priced, in-house rentals (amongst other vendors). Since booking there has been some staff exchanges, but all to say that everyone has been very responsive and accommodating and we did not run into any issues whatsoever. All our guests loved this venue and kept raving about it during and after the wedding. Highly recommend, and a big 'thank you' to the team at LJWC!

We are INCREDIBLY grateful and thankful to have selected the Don Room at El Cortez for our wedding reception venue!! An outstanding, caring staff and historic, glamorous, charming venue combine to make the perfect match for a venue for any special event. We were looking for an “Italian” space to match the “Italian” church (St. Joseph Cathedral) for our wedding theme and found the perfect venue in the Don Room. Joe and Kathi, the events manager and sales/marketing manager, are both such wonderful and thoughtful people and had such prompt, efficient and quick communication with us throughout the wedding planning process. They helped to make our wedding reception more affordable and suggested the perfect package for catering and bar services to make our reception both memorable, fun and within budget. The building itself is so luxurious feeling and historical, featuring an enormous chandelier and a gold-plated ceiling. The Don Room itself is bright and cozy with maroon red hues and golden highlights, making it both a glamorous but classic venue space. What made us fall in love with the space are the huge red velvet curtains drawing back the entrance to the space, also used to introduce the bridal party and new couple during the reception (my favorite part!)! Joe have such a wonderful tour of the space and overview of how the wedding reception usually flows, which was helpful for wedding planning. I am extremely impressed with the high quality of the presentation of the space, venue and catering package, and communication throughout the wedding planning process. Of all the vendors I emailed/called, the El Cortez staff were the most receptive and detailed in their responses, which were always prompt and answered all questions. My new husband and I are so grateful for the space because the reception was an absolute blast, with all our guests and ourselves incredibly happy to have celebrated in such a wonderful, colorful, and classy space!

My husband and I recently got married here in October, and I can’t say enough wonderful things about this venue. Truly a hidden gem in Banker’s Hill right next to Balboa Park! If your vibe is historic, victorian, classy, elegant…this is the space for you. The stained glass, molding, etc were breathtaking. I can’t tell you how many compliments we recieved. We brought in draping and dramatic florals to play off the venue, but truthfully the venue is so beautiful you could go without. Additionally, the staff was 10/10! Our contact, Nicole, was so great and responsive. I can’t tell you how many questions I threw her way 😂 and she always went out of her way to help us organize the perfect event. The food was superb! Somestimes wedding food isn’t thaaat great but their team is on it. Full open bar throughout the evening, plus welcome champagne for everyone. All a great price, especially with everything included. Again, great venue! Def recommend!!

Thanks to the Churchill House, my husband and I had our dream wedding. Working with Courtney, Ryan and Luke was a phenomenal experience. They truly had our best interest in mind and they were extremely easy to work with. We expected rain on our wedding day and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our day was perfect (and it was!). Courtney was our main coordinator and she was so sweet and attentive to us. If you’re looking for a beautiful venue and friendly staff, look no further! The Churchill House is a wedding winner!
