My son and his fiancé were married at the Windsor Mansion Inn in August. I cant say enough of how pleased we were with truly everything. Gayle, the manager/innkeeper was our contact person for the Rehearsal Dinner as she and her husband John run the Inn. Gayle was so warm and helpful. I liked her right away. She was very clear about everything and wanted to make it a great weekend for our family and friends. The Inn and the surrounding patio and garden areas were gorgeous and the views were stunning. We were extremely happy with the service and the beautiful surroundings. The Mansion itself is lovely with each guest room tastefully decorated with all of them a bit different than the next. I saw 5 different rooms and they were all charming, crisp and clean. We chose to have the Rehearsal Dinner party at the Inn as well as the wedding. We enjoyed excellent Salmon, Chicken and Lobster Ravioli. Because they are a B and B they don't handle wedding size crowds so the wedding was catered. But, they were able to easily handle our rehearsal dinner party of 28 guests for dinner . We had the entire Inn to ourselves as our guests were staying at the Inn. It is on top of a hill all by itself so it is entirely private. They had a bar available during non-wedding times and available for the after party as well. The wedding reception for 100 people was held on a huge tented trex deck adjoining the Inn and the beautiful patio. It was so convenient and accessible to everything. The bride scheduled a yoga session on the patio on the morning of the wedding as the sun came up. I can't say enough about the Windsor Mansion. Gayle and John were wonderful and felt like friends by the end. We could not have asked for a better wedding venue experience. It would be a great spot for a family or friend reunion since it has about 18 guest rooms. We found there was lots to do nearby.

It's very hard to express how wonderful having my wedding at the Windsor Mansion Inn was. Gayle and Jon were fantastic to work with, very friendly, and treated my husband and I and our guests like family. The food provided by the Inn was fantastic (shout out to Chelsea!) the view from the Inn over Lake Runnemede was gorgeous (the pictures online truly do not do it justice) and the interior of the Inn along with the grounds were both charming and elegant. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough!

The Windsor Mansion Inn is a stunning Inn and wedding venue that is run by Gayle and her incredible team! Upon first visiting the Inn we knew it was the spot we wanted to get married...the grounds are stunning and the view, incredible. We had wedding party guest and family fill the Inn which is a wonderful experience having no one else you don't know around for such a special weekend.
Gayle is wonderful to work with, very responsive every step of the way. On our wedding weekend Gayle and her team went above and beyond to make sure every thing was in place and every detail was taken care of. The grounds were perfectly manicured, everything set up was beautiful and they accommodated some special requests we had as well.
We had an exceptional wedding weekend at the WMI and got so many compliments from our friends and family!

We cannot express strongly enough how WONDERFUL every aspect of our wedding was. From the earliest planning to the wrap-up, Gayle & her team were with us every step of the way. Gayle was always available by email & phone, responding quickly & clearly to all of our questions. We’ve never planned a wedding before, but Gayle is a pro! In fact, we decided to let our wedding planner go because Gayle & her team had everything so together, a planner wasn’t needed. If you get married here, you won’t need one! Gayle hosted us twice prior to our wedding in order to finalize details. She thought of things that we forgot to even consider. We especially want to give Gayle & John kudos for the incredible transformation of the grounds. The Inn was freshly painted & landscaped for our wedding, a stone fire pit was built for our guests to enjoy smores, and the garden...wow! As far as the eye can see and gorgeous beyond belief! If you haven’t been to the Windsor Mansion Inn in the past 6 months, you need to see it. The chandeliers in the Great Room, the restored hardwood floors, and the spectacular mountain views make this the most elegant wedding venue we could possibly imagine. We looked at venues all over the Upper Valley and knew from the moment we walked in and met Gayle that this was our place and these were our people. One the best aspects of the WMI also makes it unique as a wedding venue – it is entirely private. No one else stays at the Inn except for your guests. It is so private and lovely to spend time with all the special people in your life. Gayle and her team did everything in their power to make sure our day was the most amazing day ever. During the rehearsal, Gayle might have even shed a few tears because she loves weddings that much – and it shows! If you are lucky enough to snag a wedding date at the Windsor, you will be in for an incredible, amazing, wonderful, caring, joyful, personal experience. The WMI is the best wedding venue in the Upper Valley!

I absolutely recommend against this venue to any bride or person planning a big event. Please read the other low star reviews for confirmation about the difficulty and demeanor of Andy, the proprietor. He was bad at communicating with vendors prior to the event, which was frustrating, but not a deal breaker. The trouble started when he acted surprised that I would use the venue for a welcome dinner the night before my wedding. In the middle of the party, he cornered me to yell and threaten to kick us out. No measured discussion or warning, he went straight to raised voice and threats (mind you, this was to me - the bride - and not to my husband). Apparently my guests were smoking marijuana outside when this is against the rules. Mind you, nothing is posted about this on premises and the contract only says "no recreation drug use", which I did not assume included marijuana in a state where use is legal like alcohol and cigarettes. I also didn't read it close enough and certainly didn't disperse it to guests. Regardless, I'm happy to follow the rules and we got our guests in line, but Andy continued to skulk around policing everyone for days, creating so much stress and discomfort that it colored our whole event. I was also under the impression that, in renting the entire place for the weekend, that we would have full access to the space including kitchen. Rather, we had to ask Andy for every little thing with no free access to dishes for breakfast or ice for drinks. In yelling at me about the welcome party behavior, he kept insisting that the place is immaculate - but it is far from it. Multiple guests had random dirty towels and dishes in their rooms, there were sad dead flowers displayed, cobwebs in lamps, weeds in the brick paths, melted fallen candles, rough ugly robes. None of this would have been cause for complaint if Andy had been remotely hospitable or kind. I sincerely wish I did not recommend that any of our guests stay extra days, everyone couldn't wait to get away from there. I invested a tremendous amount of effort and expense in this wedding, and this venue is my biggest regret. I hope that, in time, I can look at photos and not remember the terrible experience with this place.

The bride and groom rented the entire Mansion from Friday to Sunday to have their wedding. Family and friends occupied every room. Some of us even booked an additional night before and after the event weekend. On Friday night, during the rehearsal party on one of the outside terraces, apparently someone had a vape pen or a joint, still not sure. The owner lost his mind. He yelled at the offending guests. Not content with that, he then notified the bride that he would "shut this whole thing down" if he discovered further breaches of the contract that said "no recreational drug use." He also showed her photos he took halfway through the party of the half eaten plates of pizza that various children left around outside as they were playing and lectured her about "the animals." The party was still in full swing, we hadn't been given the opportunity to police the area or straighten up yet. His behavior had the bride in tears on the night before her wedding, worried sick that her wedding would be canceled at the last minute by an irrational innkeeper and that eighteen rooms of family and friends would be displaced. The owner confronted the mother of the bride as well saying he twice smelled the odor of marijuana outside and had "never felt more insulted" and repeated his threat to "shut it down" if it happened again. His extreme behavior was confusing given marijuana use is legal in Vermont, the Inn has absolutely nothing posted anywhere prohibiting its use, and has a full open bar for alcohol consumption. He kept yelling about it being "in the contract" as if guests were responsible for knowing and reading contract terms. Apparently, the owner is not willing to allow it even in the little designated smoking area in the gravel parking lot. Mind you, there is a great fire pit area at the bottom of the property about 100 yards from the Inn where smoking would be neat and tidy and should offend no one. On the day of the wedding, the owner approached the officiant, the wedding planner, and the mother of the bride sepaprately to demand an announcement to our guests regarding his policy of strict marijuana prohibition. Are you joking? During the ceremony? We spent the rest of our stay on egg shells with this guy skulking around the mansion, alternating between obsequious service with a fake smile or imperious demands that we stop cleaning up or doing things ourselves. He locked up the kitchen and the ice machine, so we bought ice and were then chided for not asking him for ice. Nope. This facility is lovely, but there is no amount of amenities that make up for the unnecessary level of stress that this innkeeper creates. We are nice people who would have been very understanding and cooperative had this man behaved more rationally. We had a lovely wedding despite this crazy man, but buyer beware. Things are not what they appear to be and this man is not nice or reasonable if he is unhappy about something...and he is easily made unhappy.
