Hildene, built by Abraham Lincoln’s only son to survive to adulthood, is a museum and wedding venue located in Manchester, Vermont. This historic, 24-room mansion sits on 500 acres and is home to the oldest residential pipe organ in the country. Hildene also features the Hoyt formal garden, carriage barn, Rowland Agricultural Center, 12 miles of walking trails, Cutting and Kitchen gardens, rolling meadows, and an observatory. With space to accommodate groups of up to 200 guests, Hildene offers the unique opportunity to hold your wedding ceremony and reception alongside a legacy of rich American history.
Facilities and Capacity
Hildene offers three indoor and outdoor event spaces. The 8,000-square-foot Georgian Revival mansion was completed in 1905 and features 24 bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Hildene’s restored formal gardens and terrace overlook the nearby mountains and valley below. The property’s largest space, the Event Tent, seats 200 guests and features a prep kitchen and restroom facilities.
Event planning, rentals, use of the bridal suite, and bar services are all provided in-house. Hildene’s Wedding Director, Carmine Cole, will be on hand to oversee every detail of your special day. Parking is available on site, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Your rental includes an altar or arch, dance floor, lighting, tables, tent accessories, and a tent. Lily of the Valley is the venue’s exclusive florist. Barware, china, glassware, flatware, and linens are available on site. Hildene holds a liquor license and offers the following bar services:
Pangaea Restaurant is the property’s exclusive caterer. Pangaea offers a variety of cuisine and service styles, including but not limited to the following:
Robert Todd Lincoln, the only surviving son of President Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln, purchased the land for a summer home in 1902. He had first visited Manchester with his mother as a young child. Many years later, when he was President of the largest manufacturing company in the U.S., The Pullman Company, Robert returned to Manchester. The Georgian revival mansion was completed in 1905. The mansion, land, and 13 accompanying buildings were occupied by the Lincoln family until 1975. In 1978, the nonprofit organization Friends of Hildene raised the money to save the mansion and land from developers and began to carefully restore the estate.
Hildene is located in Manchester, a small town in southern Vermont. Manchester is home to multiple restaurants and hotels as well as year-round outdoor activities. The nearest major airports are located in Boston, New York, Burlington, and Hartford.

Amazing Service...Even to visiting vendors!!!
Exceptional Hospitality!!!!Sent on 10/17/2019
While the grounds and view of the foliage in the mountains is absolutely spectacular, the real gem about Hildene Estate is the Top Notch hospitality that I experienced there.
As a wedding vendor, we know that the we are not the main focus of the day and have come to expect all of the attention, care and even smiles to be reserved for our newlyweds and their guests when working with wedding venues and day-of coordinators. This was not the case when I showed up at Hildene Estate. From the parking attendant who smiled and told me where I could load-in the band's equipment to having a warm green room for the band to relax in during break times, every single need that we had was met with grace and we are so happy to have had such an amazing experience.
While I can't remember everyone's name there that assisted us and this day so memorable for us, be on the lookout for Carmine, Nick, Julie, Parker and Bess....and if for some reason they're not around I am certain that you will be in the best of hands with whoever you will work with there!!!

Incredible Venue backed by an amazing team
Can't say enough about the Hildene as a venue but also Sheila and Carmine as a team to help us prepare and guide us through our wedding day. The views during our ceremony and cocktail hour were why we picked the Hildene as our dream venue, and it was such a great experience to share with our friends and family (all of which are from out of town). Beyond that, however, Sheila and Carmine made sure that our big day went off without a hitch and addressed any needs we brought to their attention. They are a joy to work with and we couldn't recommend them enough!Sent on 10/03/2019

Hildene was the first and only wedding venue we looked at, it was pure perfection!
Absolutely amazing! The property is STUNNING, Carmine and Sheila are incredible, and Pangea and Lily of the Valley (catering and florist) are amazing. It seriously is the best team and it was such a pleasure to work with everyone. Hildene was the first and only wedding venue we looked at, it was pure perfection!Sent on 09/05/2019
One of my favorite locations to photograph. It is so beautiful inside and out. The Victorian vintage royal feel mixed with nature at it's finest! Out of the Ordinary Photography can't wait to capture another wedding at this venue. Even if you don't have an event there, take a tour, it's lovely!
I have nothing but the most positive things to say about Hildene - our band, the Love Revival Orchestra played four weddings there in the past year (2016) and all have been tremendous and memorable events. The breathtaking Vermont scenery is the most beautiful we've every seen and the staff and crew is professional, friendly and amazing.
Hildene..history, beautiful grounds, wonderful coordinators...a joy to work with!!
