We had our reception here and there were far too many pros that outweighed any cons with this venue. The best things were the food - people are still raving about how delicious everything tasted; and their professionalism the day of - the hall was set up beautifully and the service was quick and efficient, except for one bartender. For the most part, I was a very happy bride with no regrets! Now for their negative feedback. The night of our wedding, we had been hearing complaints about one of their 2 bartenders, so I approached the bar to order a drink to see for myself, and he proceeded to ignore me for several minutes. My friend beside me ordered something and said "thank you so much" to him in which he responded "no problem. At least people like you appreciate it". I was appalled. After him ignoring me for so long and finding out he was ignoring my husband, that comment was the last straw. We told the floor manager who proceeded to get someone else on the bar and that incredibly rude man left thankfully. We later found out he had cut off many of our guests (my father in law included), that were completely coherent and fine. I am a bartender myself, and understand the legal consequences of over serving, however this man had a different agenda. Regardless of our issue with him, the service was excellent. He does not represent West River's otherwise excellence in service, and hopefully they never have him back there again. The only other issue with WR was a few missing items following the big day. Our personalized groomsmen glasses amongst over half of our table numbers that I had made myself were never found or returned. It's unfortunate, but it happens. I would just advise brides and grooms to take their significant belongings with them that night. We used the Villa Tuscany room which was perfect for our 200 person guest list. It also didn't have the typical banquet hall feel, yet had all the amenities of one.
