Building Relationships Through Hospitality
We are a family business that builds lasting rellationships with guests through hospitality and service. The inn is owned by Rob Gregor, his wife Nerisha and their three young children, Joseph, Maxwell and Eliza. In fact, it was the Gregors' seven-year old son, Joseph, who discovered the inn one night while searching online with his dad for hotels for sale. Out of nowhwere, Joseph pointed to the screen and said "Daddy, how about that one?" Intrigued by Joseph's interest in the family business, Rob gave the Stockade Inn a closer look and was instantly enamoured with the inn's characater, detail and beauty. Six-months later, in May, 2019, the Gregors purchased the Stockade Inn with Joseph (now the ripe old age of eight years old) at the closing table to assist his father signing the documents. The Gregor family invites you to explore the Stockade Inn for your most special of days and promises an experience like no other. We will personally attend to every detail and make your special day as magical as possible.
We are a historic inn located in downtown Schenectady, New York's Historic Stockade District. The Stockade Inn specializes in classic weddings in a historic setting. Located approximately a block from the Mohawk River, in the heart of the oldest neighborhood in the nation, this city venue stands near the Stockade Walkabout and Waterfront Faire and Fort Schenectady. The historic inn and surrounding community offer the perfect historic backdrop for indoor and outdoor bridal party photos and memories that will last a lifetime.
Facilities and Capacity
The Stockade Inn has four event spaces, with its largest space holding a maximum of 125. The Van Curler room, adorned with two large-mantled fireplaces at either end, is ideal for a ceremony. The Trustee's Room is a large multi-purpose space for both the rehersal dinner and the ante-room for the bride on her wedding day. This boutique hotel has 18 rooms including two suites, all decorated in a historic and antique fashion.
The building that is now the Stockade Inn traces its roots back to 1662 when Arendt Van Curler, the founder of Schenectady, selected the site for his first home. Thereafter, in 1814, the present building was constructed and housed the Mohawk Bank, one of Schenectady's first banks. In or around 1845, nearby Union College acquired the property for use as classrooms. In 1903, the building was purchased by the Mohawk Club, a Schenectady hunting club. During the 20th century, membership climbed dramatically with the rise of General Electric as a global conglomerate. However, as the 20th century came to a close, Mohawk Club membership declined and the building was sold to the McDonald family in 2003.
The McDonald family transformed the private Mohawk Club into the Stockade Inn, Schenectady's finest boutique hotel and wedding venue. With its 18 elegantly appointed guest rooms, each with private bath and modern amenities, its ornate and spacious function spaces for weddings, showers, parties and meetings and its bar and lounge featuring local craft beers, a diverse menu of seasonal cuisine and live local jazz every Thursday and Friday night, the Stockade Inn is Schenectady's most intimate and most sought out venue. In 2019, the McDonald family sold the Stockade Inn to the Gregor family. Today, the Gregor's operate the Stockade Inn as the McDonald's did. It has always been, and will always be, an intimate affair founded upon the quality of the relationships forged between our family and our guests.

We held my daughter's bridal shower at the Stockade Inn and can't say enough good things about it! From the first time we met with Anthony, he was patient, helpful and accomodating. He replied quickly to emails and was always so calm and friendly. The day of the shower, everything went off without a hitch! The Van Curler Room was the perfect romantic spot for the shower, and with the help of Anthony and staff, we turned it into just what we had pictured! The food was amazing! So many guests commented on how delicious everything was. We can't come up with one thing we would have changed or asked to be done differently! Highly recommend this charming spot as a venue for wedding related gatherings, or small weddings!Sent on 10/08/2018

A night to remember!
We got married here back in October and we cannot recommend them enough! It was a little shaky at the beginning when we got shifted to 2 different contact people who seemed to be saying different things, but once Anthony took over I knew we were in good hands. He was very straightforward in all of his communications and always responded promptly to our questions. Overall, they were very flexible, even ordering in some of our favorite alcoholic beverages that they don't carry regularly. It isn't the largest venue, but it is very elegant and fit our 85 guests with plenty of room to spare for dancing. Their pricing is also very reasonable and they include a cake from the best bakery in town, Villa Italia! Everyone who came raved about the food and decor, and one of my friends is even thinking about using them for her wedding! Thank you Anthony and everyone at the Stockade Inn for making our wedding a night to remember!Sent on 12/21/2018

We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Stockade Inn. Jeff was super responsive and we sometimes questioned if he ever went home as his responses to emails were always prompt. The food was really good! We chose to do stations and wanted a station that wasn't on their listing (Breakfast!) and Jeff was more than accommodating to that idea! We rented out the whole place the night before and the night of and having use of the Billiards room both nights for our guests staying over was a lot of fun. There is a park 2 blocks away right on the river (the Riverside Park). We walked to the ceremony and were able to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony only a couple of blocks away without paying for transportation.Sent on 11/07/2017
