The Promise Gardens of the Adirondacks is a wedding venue located in Thurman, New York. Imagine an enchanting farmhouse with rustic barns, surrounded by lush gardens, a babbling brook, and serene meadows. With the breathtaking backdrop of Three Sisters Mountain, our historic homestead, located in Thurman, NY, is the perfect location for your most cherished occasion. Facilities and Capacity
Up to 150 guests are welcome to join couples at The Promise Gardens. Ceremonies take place on the lush green lawn with The Three Sisters Mountains as the backdrop. Receptions are held in our brand new dinner reception barn, The White Willow Barn. The barn ensure guests' feet stay dry in the event of rainy weather. Our cluster of barns including a bridal suite, grooms area, and large main barn all set the stage for a gorgeous indoor and outdoor wedding. The barns have large windows and doors all around them to ensure the space doesn’t feel closed off. This also gives guests, no matter where they are a view of the expansive property.
Services Offered
The property at The Promise Gardens has its own parking for up to 30 cars for guests and the wedding party. The venue provides couples with a historical barn for dancing, and a beautiful dinner barn connected to the main barn by a stunning walkway that has a clear top with twinkle lights and a beautiful chandelier. This space is perfect with its bistro lighting and table and chairs for guests to take in the night and the beauty that surrounds them We have over 7 stunning gardens full of every season's flowers that set the stage of beauty throughout our property and wrap around the barns. Accommodations
We are located in the heart of The Adirondacks, and so close to Lake George, The Promise Gardens is an ideal location for wedding weekends on the lake. We have lots of comfortable and well-appointed lodging options nearby, wonderful restaurants and nightlife options, and so many fun activities for your and your guests to enjoy. (Think hiking, boating, spas, museums, winery tours, and more!)
History
The property’s history can be traced back to 1820 when Guy Brooks built a tavern on the land. The main house was built in 1855, and the barns have been carefully maintained since 1965. In the 1980s, they were moved to their current location to protect them from flooding.

Dream Wedding
My wife and I had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at The Promise Gardens this summer. This venue was a dream location for my wife long before we got engaged, and her dreams were fulfilled every step of the way to our wedding day! Our guests were in awe of the venue, from the obviously eye-catching florals, the backdrop of the Adirondacks, the beauty of the barns and all the small details in between. The new White Willow barn was the perfect dinner space for our guests and it didn’t even exist when we first booked the venue! Of course, Terri and Rachel were very pleasant to work with and made sure all our questions were answered in the months, weeks and days leading up to our special day. If you’re looking for your dream venue in the Lake George/Adirondack area, do yourself a favor and visit The Promise Gardens!

Nothing else compares!
Ryan and I are beyond fortunate to have found your venue, Terri! It was the first we visited, actually quite by accident, on our way back home from a camping trip in the Adirondacks (near Keene). We were immediately smitten, but tried our best to do our due research... but sure enough, the beauty of the mountains, the flowers, and the property drew us right back. We loved how there were multiple buildings/barns on site and people could flow in and out and around them. It's a venue that encourages wandering and appreciation of all the little beautiful things that surround us.
Even more incredible is that Terri was planning on building a beautiful white barn where the reception tent used to be, and I was lucky enough to see the architect renders when I went to visit a second time! But, I had another idea for the barn... and when I emailed her a rendering that I did, Terri actually took the time to consider it and ultimately implemented it in the final design for the barn!! I think that the finished barn is absolutely gorgeous, with views towards the mountains and a cozy fireplace on the opposite end, and I'm even more proud that it was a collaborative effort. Terri is a wonderful hostess: firm yet very accommodating, kind, and very smart!
There is no other location I could ever want my greatest memory to be remembered at. Thank you for all of your hard work, Terri and co.! Your venue is an inspiration to me as an aspiring architect. Sending you so much love!

I cant say enough positive things about Burlap & Beams for your wedding venue. This is a hidden treasure in the heart of the Adirondacks with all the glamorous, rustic enhancements you could imagine. Every season the owner continues to fill the property with creative touches that make this barn one of the best in the capital region. As a wedding planner I know what to expect when I arrive on site with no surprises to how the day will go, which is perfectly. You will not be disappointed with the quality of value of this unique wedding venue!
I have worked with Terri at Burlap and Beams many times. Every time that I visit I am amazed at the new decor and improvements she continues to make to the barns and property. She is always hustling around the day of the wedding making sure the barns and gardens are in tip top shape. She puts her heart into Butlap and Beams. I would recommend Terri and Burlap and Beams to any bride for their wedding!
