The HideOut is a wedding venue located in Kirkwood, California. Set against the Sierra Nevada mountain range and offering uninterrupted views of meadows, rivers, and streams, The HideOut is an event space unlike any other. Located just 12 miles south of Kirkwood Ski resort and close to the old Western towns of MotherLode and Lake Tahoe, The HideOut is a perfect mountainside getaway.
Facilities and Capacity The HideOut offers plenty of space for couples and guests to host events of all sizes and themes. For instance, the 5,000-square-foot lodge offers five bedroom suites, complete with two kitchens and decks that are set right out on the water. Behind the lodge is the old Western-style saloon and bar. There is also a wedding ceremony site located in the middle of a meadow. Offering beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this is an ideal spot for you and your loved one to exchange vows. All in all, The HideOut has enough space to host up to 200 of your friends and family or more per request.

We had our wedding 2 weeks ago at The HideOut. Best decision ever!!!!
1. If you want to create an EXPERIENCE for your guests, choose the HideOut
2. No noise curfew means it's the one place you can truly have a late-night party
3. They have awesome people with very few rules (no fires, respect max # campers allowed) - other than that, they let you manifest your dream!
4. Massive granite hottub and swimming lake are amazing
5. You can have people camp or glamp on site (we hired their tents and supplemented with Anywhere Outpost - wonderful!)
6. They have some infrastructure but you can bring in your own booze, rentals, catering, etc. - so you can curate your dream wedding (for food hire Blend or Camber Events! for drinks hire Pizen! for wedding planner hire Jenn Robirds Events!)
7. It's absolutely stunning. The natural granite, pines, and beautiful flowers everywhere. It's amazing!!
You can have any kind of wedding here - a DIY small wedding, big elevated elegant wedding (like we did), something simple, something over-the-top. It's all possible!

We LOVE the Hideout
There are so many positive things to say about this wedding venue. The crew, the location, the amenities, and the flexibility to have a unique wedding are just some that are top of the list.
I would have my wedding here a million times over again, Thank you to the Hideout crew that made it happen... you are all amazing at what you do.

Our Perfect Wedding Getaway
Truly one of the most beautiful and unique wedding venues ever! Our wedding was an absolute dream. The Hideout is gorgeous and perfect for the outdoor couple.
The team at the Hideout is super communicative and proactive with making your wedding experience smooth and stress free. We were able to fully customize everything about our wedding (decorations, schedule, campers, vendors, etc). Even though we had several conversations about where we'd like our Rehearsal Dinner, Ceremony and Reception area, Mother Nature had other plans. We had rain, hail and a brief fire (caused by a lightning bolt striking a tree), and everything about our wedding was still absolutely perfect. The Hideout worked to make our wedding so beautiful and fun!
I can't speak enough about how stunning the property is. The cabin, the lake, the meadows, the hiking trails, the jacuzzi - all of it is incredible. If you're lucky enough to use the Hideout for your wedding, it will be an unforgettable wedding like nothing you've seen before!

Best day ever!
The HideOut is such a special place, we knew from our first visit it would be the place we would get married... who would have thought we would have had such a wild ride leading up to the wedding. We had the best 4 days here, which was so nice because as the couple getting married you barely get to enjoy your day. Us having the 4 days, 3 nights we were able to have family/friends and enjoy the week with them. The venue was able to accommodate any and every idea we had. There isn't another venue like The HideOut. The breath-taking views when you come up the dirt road, to see the house and lake for the first time. The whole property had so much to offer and enjoy. We wanted a wedding that people will talk about for years to come, and we know alone with the venue we will have a lifelong of memories. We can't wait to visit this magical place in the coming years. We can't express thank you enough to the Hoover family for building this amazing place and even more so, letting us enjoy it and celebrate our special day! (THANK YOU TOM, BJ and JOSH!!!!!)

Amazing venue with spectacular view guaranteed to wow your guests.
The Hideout checks all the boxes. From wonderful accommodations to great staff. The views there are absolutely spectacular, we could not ask for a better back drop to day our "I do's" and celebrate with our friends and family. We were one of the events that unfortunately were postponed due to the Caldor Fire. The Hideout was able to get us on the books for the next year and everything was perfect.
Josh, Tom, BJ - thank you for everything. You guys are stellar people and we absolutely appreciate everything.
And DON'T JUMP OFF THE DOCK!!! My husband made the decision to jump off the dock (even with clearly posted signage saying swim at your own risk) and ended up breaking his leg the day *after* our ceremony, THANK GOD. It will make for a good chuckle later.

The most amazing weekend of our lives so far
We had our wedding in early June 2022 at the Hideout and we can say without a doubt that it was the best decision we made in our planning process. We booked the venue sight unseen after looking at photographs as we had gotten engaged close by while climbing. We wanted to share the area and landscape with our family and friends and the Hieout did not dissapoint. The whole weekend was incredible for so many reasons, but by and large due to the hard work and kindness of the family that runs and owns the hideout. BJ, Tom and their son Josh are so communicative, helpful and just good people. They were great in the planning process (we used most of their recommended vendors) and when we arrived could not feel more taken care of throughout the whole weekend. Josh helps to plan out all of the settings: table, chairs, ceremony when you arrive and then magically makes everything happen smoothly. BJ had planted flowers everywhere so that in addition to the tremendous wildflowers blooming between the rocks the ceremony and reception area is full of flowers.
Our whole family stayed in the lodge and saloon and it was so fun to make dinner with them on Thursday before everyone arrived and then have such an extraordinary place to get ready and spend time. Most of our friends camped on site and it was wonderful to be surrounded by friends and go hiking in the mountains and canoe on the lake the morning of our wedding. We had a field day the morning of our wedding and utilized the included coffee cart which was wonderful.
The barn was an incredible space and everyone was astounded by the venue. While we had to change some of our plans because it was quite cold, Josh made everything seamless and had bonfires going for our rehearsal, cocktail hour and reception. We danced in the barn and then everyone went up to the hot tub at midnight for an incredible night under the stars. We truly could not imagine a better place to celebrate our marriage.

A magical location
The best part of my wedding day is looking back and knowing we wouldn't change a thing. And it wasn't just one day but an entire weekend to relax and take it all in! The quiet moments sitting on the porch or walking through the granite gave us a chance to truly appreciate our union and families to share it with. We lived in SF but our friends and family were mostly from out of state. It was so fun to share the splendor of the Northern California with them all! Everyone kept asking "How did you find this place?" (Google). It was so important to us to not have to end our party at 10pm and shuttle off to a hotel bar. The immediate families and bridal parties all fit in the Hideout, Saloon, and The Lookout (a separate rental), and we maxed out the tent camping on site. Believe me, it is so much fun to sit by the campfire with your nearest and dearest after your wedding!! BJ, Tom, and Josh were amazing on site. They helped us settle in and were attentive though not obtrusive on our time and offered recommendations as needed. They also lent us some beautiful natural wine barrel tables to use instead of rentals (though these aren't guaranteed, so check with BJ leading up to your weekend). Our rehearsal dinner was on the patio between the Hideout and the Saloon, and the wedding was on the main lawn. The shuttle drivers even drove me and the bridal party over there to save us from the dust :) For future couples, I would highly recommend using the preferred vendors. BJ knows who works and the last thing you would want is someone unfamiliar with the space who didn't know you needed ice, for example. The vendors who have been there LOVE the space and many of them offer delivery discounts, too. We couldn't afford a wedding coordinator, but with my own spreadsheets and a few friends to help out the day before/morning of, we didn't need one. Tip: keep things organized in advance so that you can relax and enjoy the weekend with your guests who traveled so far! What an epic wedding location!!!!
Our friends and family continually tell us we had THE BEST wedding and we have so much to thank The Hideout for that. What a magical location! We had 4 amazing days with friends and family. We asked everyone to do their best to arrive early on Friday and really enjoy this spectacular spot with us and by Saturday afternoon it really felt like everyone had "dropped in" and fully arrived to the magical weekend we'd created. The food and lodging options were our biggest issue for guests. We ended up doing a big Costco fun and supplying a breakfast and lunch bar everyday (just bagels and build-your-own sandwich stations). We so wish we could have accomodated more people on the property too. My feedback to The Hideout is to find ways to allow more people to camp there! I think 90% of our guests would have loved that option. But other than those hurdles, we found the venue and the staff so accommodating. My husband wanted us to have a very fun first dance and had this idea he would swing in from the rafters (yes, he's very silly and fun) and they were happy to help and even mounted the support structure he needed in the rafters for us! You can imagine it was a surprising and fun moment in our reception! We can't say enough great things about this place. Be sure to get all your guests out there swimming and hiking and exploring the property for your whole stay. Our Sunday after the ceremony was perhaps the most special for many as everyone just unwound in a lazy day at the lake using the Lodge House as the base. We bbq'd and had speakers on the deck and everyone spent the whole day sunning and swimming and having the best summer day.

Amazing venue!
We had the most amazing wedding! This place is perfect for those who love the outdoors, want to spend quality time with guests, don’t want a curfew, want to DIY/fully customize their special day, and want to chill in a huge granite hot tub under the stars with 30 of your closest friends every night. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better venue:)

The Hideout is exactly what the name implies...it is hidden, secluded, and beautiful. We absolutely love the fact that our wedding couples choose this venue. The cabins, the lake, the hiking trails....so romantic. We have delivered our rental products there quite often this year and our drivers fight over who will go because it is such a beautiful drive. As a matter of fact, one of the drivers videoed his drive to bring back to everyone else because it was so breath-taking!
