We hosted about 20 people here for a small luncheon following a private ceremony two weeks before our "real" reception. It went off without a hitch! The staff was very friendly and helpful and I heard that the food was great! I didn't have much of a chance to eat any of it. It was a beautiful, classy place to have a reception of any size.Sent on 07/08/2008

We got married at LJBTC on 10/13/13 and held a handful of events here over our wedding weekend. We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and post-wedding brunch all at LJBTC. We had our reception at the Marine Room, which is also owned by LJBTC. All of our events were beautiful and everything we would have dreamed of. The environment does it all for you! Our ceremony was stunning. It was quiet and peaceful. One of the best parts of having a beach ceremony at LJBTC is that the beach is private so people are not invading your ceremony space as they do on public beaches. Also, LJBTC cleans the beach daily so it was in perfect shape, whereas the public beach next to us was still a mess from the storm on Wednesday. The cocktail hour was beautiful and our guests got to enjoy the sunshine and then sunset on the patio 5 feet from the sand! The staff were friendly and accommodating the entire weekend and really made sure all my guests had an amazing time! Jennifer, the coordinator, did a great job keeping up with my requests and making sure that I was pleased with everything no matter how many changes I requested! I recommend this venue to anyone wanting a beach ceremony in paradise!Sent on 10/17/2013

The LJBTC is a private club, with a private beach on La Jolla Shores. This was GREAT for a beach wedding because they rope off a whole section of the beach for you, and you don't have to worry about city permits, etc. Also, you can have the reception right inside and your guests can all stay at the hotel, so everything is all in one spot! The cons: If you are not a member or don't know a member, you have to pay extra for every single one of your guests. Also, to even have the wedding there at all, you have to be/know a member, or book a certain number of hotel rooms! If you have above a certain number of guests you must pay for valet car service; they don't have a room for the bride to get ready in; and the reception must be over by 10 unless you get special permission. Also, I wasn't always very impressed with the staff- they give an air of being very classy with 5 star service (and you're paying for it), but then seem to hire young people without much experience, and at times we got conflicting information from all of them. Bottom line: if you MUST have a beach wedding and don't want to deal with park permits, etc. and money is not a huge concern for you (as there are a lot of random fees with the tennis club), and you're good at reading fine print to see how much it will really cost you, then check them out!Sent on 01/17/2013
LJBTC is a gorgeous setting with fabulous views and a wonderful staff. Chef Augie and Chef Bernard are incredible - we love to deliver cakes to this property, to any section of it, knowing that the event will be fun, beautiful, and top notch.
