My daughter's wedding reception was held at the Holiday Inn University Charlotteville and it was AMAZING! The staff was so accomodating and responsive to our needs. The atmosphere was very elegant and everything was so perfectly placed. The chef and his staff were beyond comparison. The food was delicious, and the staff constantly monitored supply and demand. Actually, according to the Bride, who is extremely picky, the food was "out of this world". From the moment we contacted their Director of Sales and made our commitment we were so at ease. It was so well organized, detail oriented, and focused on our individual needs. Our questions or changes were always meet with a positive attitude. The hotel has a "what can we do to help you" type of attitude and atmosphere. Most of our guests were from out of town (up North)and they could not believe how "perfect" everything was and how friendly the hotel staff was. All of our out of town guests made their lodging reservations here as well. They commented on how clean their rooms were as well as how cozy the atmosphere was. I honestly have to say I never stressed about our reception, catering, or accomodations for one moment. If you are looking for an elegant,enjoyable, and accomodating venue that keeps in mind the expenses that go into a wedding while providing a fairy tale atmosphere on such a special and memorable day I highly recommend the Holiday Inn University Charlottesville. The Holiday Inn did a fablous job for our wedding! They were so accomadating and everything turned out exactly how I envisioned it would. As a included part of the cocktail reception, the Holiday Inn offers a chocolate fountain, which our guest raved about how wonderful it was. When we were first announced, the room smelled wonderful--like a chocolate factory! YUMM!!! The food was excellent, the servers were very good about pre-busing all of the plates so that there weren't a lot of dirty dishes left out. The Holiday Inn also provided us with a free room for the night before the wedding, and the night of the wedding. They provided us with some goodies in our room as well. I would certainly recommend anyone to have their reception at the Holiday Inn--you won't be disappointed!

We had an upset early on regarding price per guest room, and the groom took over all contacts with this vendor. I couldn't deal with it. But after that it was smooth sailing. We were able to make special requests, like to have Pepsi available along with the traditional Iced Tea, and they were fairly flexible. We were scared off early on by sample menus, but we were able to work something out that was totally reasonable. The Wedding Coordinator asked us what we were looking to spend and we were able to stay at our budget.

Just get everything in writing. If they say, "and this is how much ____ will cost..." you should say, "Great. Could you write that down, please?"

Honeymoon Suite was free on our wedding night - also got beautiful crystal champagne glasses. The room was set-up beautifully, they were great with details.
