Based out of her 65 acre flower farm located in Delaplane, Va, Barbara Von Elm, owner and founder of Growing Wild Floral Co, works with a fabulous team of flower growers and floral designers. Her team grows a variety of trendy flowers and botanicals which she loves to incorporate into her wedding designs. Augmenting arrangements with locally sourced, high quality, organic flowers is not only a great way of going "green" but helps brides get the best possible bang for their floral buck. Flowers grown at the farm include luscious dahlias, dinner plate dahlias, peonies, lilac, hydrangea and succulents, to name a few. They are fresh-cut shortly before the wedding, so they will look their prettiest in your bouquets and arrangements.
Since its inception in 1996, the Growing Wild team has done over 1600 weddings ranging in size from 30 to 300. Venues include large trendy downtown DC hotels and mansions to rustic barns and vineyards. Over time the company has built up a large repertoire of hard goods including various styles of containers, arches and chuppahs for use by clients in her "rent an arrangement" program.

As someone who doesn't know a peony from a poppy, I was so thankful to have a professional like Barbara taking care of our floral arrangements. My husband and I met with her to get a general sense of what we needed and what we liked, and she sat for 2 hours going through hundreds of photos and taking copious notes to deliver exactly what was expected. I especially appreciated that she was realistic about what was going to be in season, what would be prohibitively expensive, and what would hold up all day through the wedding. I'd rather know those points going in than have a wilting, expensive bouquet at ceremony time. Barbara was also incredibly flexible as we changed our vision multiple times and provided some of our own glassware. The flowers delivered were drop-dead gorgeous and remained bright and fresh for 12+ hours. I can't wait to get the photos back so I can see them all over again. If I had any advice for brides working with Barbara, it's this: trust her. I'm absolutely positive that our arrangements were 10x better because we gave her maximum flexibility than they would have been if we dictated exactly what we wanted.

Gorgeous, unique flowers and a wonderful experience
Barbara was fantastic from start to finish. She traveled into DC to meet us rather than have us come to her, and was very thorough with her questions. Her price was extremely reasonable compared to many other florists we spoke with. Neither I nor my fiancee know the first thing about flowers so we each created a Pinterest board and gave her total freedom -- we said we wanted unique, interesting, local, and colorful flowers. She was able to incorporate both of our visions even though they were quite different.
We really didn't know what to expect the day of, and were amazed at how beautiful everything turned out. Our chuppah / mandap and my bridal bouquet in particular were gorgeous. Barbara really went above and beyond. I highly recommend working with her, and if you do, giving her freedom to be creative and interpret your vision the way she knows best.

Dreamlike Flowers Locally Grown
We used Barbara and team for our wedding and could not have been more thrilled. From our first meeting I felt like she truly understood what I was looking for. She grows a lot of her own flowers which allows her to make gorgeous and highly desired flowers more accessible.
I really wanted Dahlias for my bouquet but we were coming up on some freezes and Barbara said, trust me and give me flex and I will give you perfect flowers- and she really did! Her teammate Terri delivered our flowers the day of and went above and beyond to drop the bouquets off at the hotel and hour and half before load time to the venue. I am a type A bride and could not have been more pleased! Even 4 days later the flowers still look great!
We highly recommend Barabara of Growing Wild. She was even the florist for our blizzard wedding and the bride's flowers were still stunning. We are always thrilled when we know it's her work will be shooting. She is creative and amazing to work with!
Growing Wild time and time again comes in at budget and provides a gorgeous product. My clients are always thrilled with the bouquets and arrangements. Growing Wild is always on time at the beginning and end of the event. Responses via email are always timely, and appointments are easy to make. But ultimately it comes down to the floral design. The array of props is wide, and the quality of the floral is just stunning. You can't go wrong when you hire Growing Wild.
Barbara's flowers are always amazing and our clients really enjoy working with her. We look forward to any event that employs her floral decor.
