Gasped and cried when I saw my bouquet

Growing Wild was one of the best parts of our wedding. Our flowers were breathtaking, and truly looked like Lindsay saw what was inside my head and ran with it. Our guests (and their friends who saw them online) can't stop complimenting the flowers. Beyond that, the team is amazing to work with - professional, warm, and so invested in making your day perfect. They really know what they are doing, and you'll have a blast working with them. My partner and I consider the entire floral process to be a highlight of the wedding. Not enough good to say about the quality, sustainability, professionalism, and admirable business practices.

Lindsey and her team made my floral dreams a reality!

I cannot say enough good things about the process and result of working with Growing Wild for our florals this weekend! Lindsey was patient and positive even as I sometimes struggled to convey what I was looking for during our planning sessions. She was realistic with what could be done, asked the right questions, and I was amazed by the result. Florals are one aspect of a wedding where you cannot know exactly what the result will be and requires an additional layer of trust compared to other vendors and decisions - she confidently executed and I could not be happier. My only feedback is that I felt unprepared for our planning session (which was SUCH a fun day) and would recommend the team explicitly send the admin/less fun questions in advance of this so that I could have felt better prepared to address those and focus more on the design side. Thank you Lindsey and everyone who played a role!

Gorgeous Flowers - HIGHLY recommend

I strongly recommend working with Growing Wild. We went out to the farm to pick out the flowers that we liked using little flower playing cards, which was extremely fun. The flowers were stunning. One of my bridesmaids said that she's been a bridesmaid several times but had never had such a gorgeous bouquet because usually the bridesmaid bouquet is really small and sad looking. All the bouquets were stunning. The chuppah was vibrant. Growing Wild also really listens to their clients and helps come up with really good solutions, like our flower girl passing out flowers to guests rather than dropping petals. I strongly recommend that you give your flower girl a flower halo because then the bride gets to wear it later that night which is just so beautiful. Growing Wild was one of the first vendors were booked, and I have no regrets at all about this choice.

Wonderful team!

The Growing Wild team is just wonderful to work with! They really take the time to listen to what their client is asking for and help ensure their vision comes to life. On the day of the wedding, they are always there on time, if not early, and stay until everything is set up as expected. I highly recommend Growing Wild!

Beautiful & sustainably grown flowers!

Working with Growing Wild was wonderful. We were having a big wedding in a museum so we knew we wanted beautiful flowers that fit the venue. However, it was important to us to prioritize more sustainable options in our wedding, including for flowers. Growing Wild gave us the opportunity to have flowers that were both beautiful and sustainably grown on their farm/in their greenhouse in Virginia. We shared more about our vision with Lindsey and then left it to her and the result was excellent. We took some of the flowers home and the ones we didn't they composted for us. Highly recommend Growing Wild especially if you're looking for ways to make your wedding more sustainable without compromising quality!

Stunning Flowers

Growing Wild provided flowers for my wedding on Oct. 12, 2024 - Lindsey was wonderful to work with from start to finish! Simply Incredible

Loved working with Barbara and Lindsey from growing wild. Ensuring sustainability throughout our wedding planning was incredibly important, and growing wild was the perfect florist for this. Everything comes from their farm out in Delaplane, which my husband and I had the pleasure of visiting before our wedding. :)

Barbara and Lindsey helped us pick colors and varieties that matched our vision and style, while being mindful of costs and environmental impact (not flying in out of season flowers from another country). The flowers came out beautifully, and there were more than I expected. Highly recommend working with growing wild floral for your special day.

Beautiful, sustainably-managed florals

The team did a wonderful job on my bouquet. To reduce waste, I used rented flowers for everything except my own bouquet, so I just needed something that would go with my chosen design, but still stand out from the rest. They took my inspiration photos and created a beautiful piece that I am now having preserved as a memory of the day. Most importantly, their farm is run with sustainability in mind. A great choice for Northern Virginia!

Highly personalized florist

It was such a pleasure working with Growing Wild Floral Company. Lindsay worked with us to meet our design plan. Their locally grown flowers were magnificent flowers, as were the vases, votives, and chuppah. So many people came up to us complimenting us on the flowers, noting how they were perfect for spring and matched our tastes. Each piece was so tastefully done. We especially enjoyed the flowers around and over the chuppah - what a delightful array and fragrance. Thank you for making our day so special.

Spectacular!

We simply can’t say enough how absolutely thrilled we were with the flower arrangements Barbara and her company put together for our wedding. They were beautiful and made every aspect of our day look incredible. From the moment we first spoke to her and she kindly invited us to meet her at her farm, Barbara was fun and easy to work with, asked all the right questions to understand our vision, and then made it a stunning reality. During our first meeting, after she understood what we were looking for and we explained what we liked, she said something like, “If you give me a little leeway, I will make your wedding look gorgeous,” and she absolutely delivered. Everyone who attended and everyone we’ve shown the pictures to has raved about how beautiful the flowers were. She understood the colors I wanted, the looks I liked for the table centerpieces, the arbor, and our cake, and she went out of her way to get my husband a boutonniere that mimicked the look and colors of his favorite flower, the Colorado columbine, since columbines were out of season at the time of our wedding. We’re so happy with how everything turned out!

Gorgeous Late-Summer Floral Arrangments

We hired Growing Wild to do florals for our Sept. 2023 DAR wedding and we were blown away by the service and quality. First, Growing Wild's pricing was reasonable and fair. Second, we had a ton of fun going out to the farm for our initial consultation. Barbara and her daughter are very pleasant and we enjoyed talking to them. One thing that is easy to undervalue when you are planning a wedding but is very helpful is when you trust a vendor enough to give them the flexibility to use their expertise to do something great -- that's how we felt with Growing Wild and the result was incredible. Beautiful white roses, champagne dahlias, sage, etc. arrangements that went perfectly with the venue and bridal party's ensemble. Growing Wild also delivered two three (!) separate urban locations on a busy weekday in the nation's capital. They were awesome!

Beautiful and vibrant flowers!

Barbara was so wonderful to work with. After we talked about color, I let her decide what to do and I didn't know what any of the flowers were going to look like until the day of! It was an amazing surprise, and they were the most beautiful flowers. I absolutely recommend Growing Wild and it was so much fun to tell people that the flowers came from the area. Communication was great, and it was easy to trust Barbara which took so much stress off of the planning process.

Wonderful florist

Working with Barbara was very easy. We were able to give her a vision for the wedding and she followed through in bringing it to life. Beautiful, Perfect Floral Arrangements

Barbara created the perfect floral arrangements for our September wedding and I highly recommend her work! We were able to visit her flower farm in Delaplane where she grows so many of the actual flowers used in her arrangements, which I thought was really unique and special (and as a fun bonus, we loved meeting her sweet dogs!). She took the time to really get to know us and our general preferences. We aren't particularly knowledgeable about floral details, so we came in with some photos of our overall vision and then deferred to her expert background to get creative. Not only is she incredibly down-to-earth, but she's so, so talented. When I walked into the venue before the guests arrived, I was blown away at how beautiful the flowers were. It was wonderful working with Barbara and we got so many compliments on the flowers - they were truly perfect. I highly recommend you work with Barbara for any of your floral arrangement needs!

You will not find better

Barbara is fun, down to earth, and incredibly talented. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted, except for not white roses. Barbara was so patient with us, inviting us out to her beautiful farm, showing us countless photos so we could identify what we did and didn't like, adn ultimately gave her free rein to make us something spectacular, and she delivered!

Barbara is a floral genius

Barbara is a genius, and we can’t recommend Growing Wild strongly enough! Going into our planning meetings with her, we hadn’t developed concrete ideas for what kinds of flowers we wanted to have at our wedding. Barbara really took the time to get to know us and came up with ideas for amazing displays that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Most impressively, she grew many of these beautiful flowers herself on her farm in Delaplane, which also means she’s more affordable than many other vendors who have to buy their flowers–you end up with more flowers for your money. We got so many compliments on the flowers, maybe more than any other part of the wedding!

Delightful and Creative Florist

I loved working with Barbara on our wedding flowers. She invited us to come to her farm before the wedding to see what she had, it was amazing. When I had to reschedule, she was easy to work with, but we had to change up some of the flowers because it was from April to October, and there's seasonality when it comes to flowers. In the weeks before the wedding she let me know that because of the change in season we should change up our approach- at that point, I thought it would be best to let her do her thing, and that's exactly what happened. We had an amazing pink flowers and blue & white vases entry arrangement. Our guests raved about the flowers and it was wonderful working with Barbara and her team. We are so grateful she was part of our team!

Barbara is an artist!

Working with Barbara is an unforgettable experience unto itself. She invited us to come visit the farm in VA so we could see where the flowers are grown and we got to meet her and her friendly dogs. Barbara does amazing work!

Both my sister and I both used growing wild for our weddings. I got so many complements on our flowers - we used a lot of color and Barbara helped us pick our colors based on the dress color for the bridesmaids. I didn't have really specific ideas on what I wanted so I let her do a lot of what she wanted - which we were both happy with! I couldn't have been happier with how all the flowers turned out!

Brought Our Vision to Life

Barbara and Growing Wild Floral were wonderful to work with in the lead-up to our wedding and the final product on our wedding day was totally breathtaking. After talking and meeting with Barbara a number of times, including going out to visit her flower farm in VA, we had high hopes for how everything would come together on our wedding day. Even still, the final product blew us away and totally exceeded even our expectations. Barbara was able to listen to our vision and then use her own creativity (and availability of flowers on her farm) to bring it to life and knocked it out of the park. Beautiful flowers

Barbara was so wonderful throughout our wedding planning process. We had to postpone and downsize our wedding drastically due to COVID, and Barbara was extremely flexible with us. She even delivered beautiful flowers (that had already been ordered for our March 2020 wedding) to our apartment at the beginning of the pandemic. She worked with us to decrease our order for our much smaller 2021 wedding and did amazing work on all the bouquets and arrangements. The flowers were gorgeous and we were amazed by how wonderful everything looked. We were so happy to have been able to work with Barbara for our wedding.

Barbara is truly a class act and is, unsurprisingly, phenomenal at her job. She was responsive, creative, easy to work with, affordable, prompt, and everything else you could ever want. Beautiful Flowers for our wedding

Wow, I was so happy with the flowers that Barbara selected and put together for our wedding. The arrangements were beautiful!! It well exceeded my expectations. Barbara is great to work with as well. We gave her some colors and ideas, but she said trust her, and it paid off! She also grows a lot of her flowers, and we really loved that the flowers were local to the area as much as possible.

Gorgeous flowers!

Incredible!

Amazing service. Barbara is the absolute best. From the very first consult through the day of the wedding, Barbara ensured she zeroed in on our vision of the event. I'm not at all a flower or plant expert, nor did I have a Pinterest vision board of what I envisioned. Fear not! Barbara had tons of photos at the ready, organized by color and was able to give my fiance and I candid comments on which flowers were seasonally appropriate (I got married in mid-February), which flowers were within our budget (AWESOME), and which ones matched our overall vibe (classy, with a bit of funk). She also asked for some trust to design the bouquets, and I'm so so happy with how they all looked. They were amazing!
Set-up and tear down during the wedding was also amazing. Her staff arrived right on time, set up the centerpieces and the chupah beautifully, and then arrived later that evening to tear everything down. Our guests kept telling us how beautiful everything looked, and we know Growing Wild played a big part of that!
Lastly - Barbara will absolutely work with your budget! We were so appeciative of this last bit!
Passing on all our thanks to Barbara and the Growing Wild team. We'd consider using them for another event in a heartbeat.

Everything I hoped for

Barbara at Growing Wild was an excellent choice for our wedding. She is fun and creative and truly got my vision for the flowers at our wedding. We were lucky to have a pretty venue to start with, but thanks to Barbara everything looked magical. Our guests raved about the head table floral she put together and every other arrangement was exactly what I hoped for as well. She is flexible and thorough, even hosting my mom and I at her property to go over photos, vases, and every other little detail to make sure everything would be perfect for our special day. Gorgeous Flowers! Highly Recommend.

Growing Wild is fantastic - I don't know much about flowers at all, but between asking plenty of questions about the general vision for our wedding and sharing Pinterest photos, Barbara really hit the nail on the head! We *loved* working with Barbara! Barbara listened to what we wanted, and helped us stay in budget. I had been turned off by other florists who kept trying to "upsell" flowers, but Barbara really listened to what we wanted and was wonderfully flexible. A few weeks before the wedding we got to visit her farm and pick the flowers and colors we wanted from her fields. We loved that we were able to source some local flowers for our wedding. For some added whimsy, Barbara clandestinely worked with my mom who wanted to surprise me with some extra arrangements -- Barbara's discretion led to a wonderful surprise on our wedding day, and truly beautiful arrangements. She is a true artist!

Storybook Whimsical

Wonderful experience using Growing Wild for a DC wedding

My mom and I had a wonderful experience working with Barbara as the florist for my wedding in December 2019 in DC. I would highly recommend Growing Wild - Barbara's work is really beautiful and she's a delight to work with!

Barbara was happy to guide us through the floral planning process, including hosting us at her farm in Winchester to show us examples of her work as well as flowers, candles, and containers available. She is easy to communicate with, which was helpful as my mom aided in planning from out of state. Barbara was also extremely generous with her time, including helping with day-of on-site floral delivery, installation, and breakdown. During the wedding set-up, she made sure we were happy with all the arrangements and had a beautiful magnolia leaf lantern display on the steps outside of our venue. So thankful we went with Growing Wild!

Trust Barbara - the results will be BEAUTIFUL

Barbara is the real deal. I was referred to her by two family members, and now we like to call her our family florist. Once she had done one wedding, we were all hooked!
What is so special about Growing Wild Floral is that it is so true to it’s name – Barbara has her own farm and grows the flowers herself. This gives a very unique opportunity, which we took full advantage of. I knew from the beginning she was a professional and I should defer to her on making everything look beautiful. I trusted her completely, and I am SO glad I did! I spoke with her a few weeks before the wedding and we were going over colors and flowers and any final changes, and she knew which of her flowers were at their best. She is a true artist – and when she says if you trust her she will make it beautiful – trust her! I gave her colors I liked and access to my pinterest page, and let me tell you, she exceeded any and all expectations with her arrangements.
The other really wonderful thing about GWF is that you can rent the centerpieces – that way the cost can be reduced significantly and you can have absolutely beautiful options. We ended up going with half tall and half short – with big gold vases. They were STUNNING – truly out of a fairytale beautiful. This wouldn’t have been possible using other vendors.
Barbara is also just the sweetest person – she cares deeply about her work and her passion just explodes out of her when she’s talking about your wedding. Talking to her gave me a sense of ease and excitement, even as all the planning was getting stressful and we were down to the wire. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Hire her and trust her – you will not regret it and you will have an unforgettably beautiful wedding!

Barbara was great. We did an early interview with her many months before our ceremony to go over what we wanted. She gave us great advice. Barbara was amazing from start to finish. She made me feel comfortable with flowers that would be available for my June wedding and recommended many cost saving options (like mixing high and low centerpieces). Best Florist in DC

Can't say enough about Barbara and her flowers. We didn't really know what to expect with the final product but we trusted in her and we're so glad we did. The flowers were beautiful and blew away my expectations. She listened to our vision and used the flowers from her garden to make it happen. She was also very reasonably priced because she grows so many of her own flowers. She is fun to work with and very passionate about what she does. You won't regret hiring her!!

Absolutely Stunning!

Barbara and her team gave us the perfect touch to our big day with the flowers of our dreams! We had several different flower arrangements from personal bouquets to the church flowers to the dinner table settings and they perfected them all! We met with Barbara twice before our big day and showed her lots of inspiration pictures. She knew exactly what to do and asked us to "trust her". I'm so glad we did! We love the fact that she grows the flowers on her farm in Virginia and it was an awesome option to just "rent" some of the vases and such, which she came back for at the end of the evening. Highly recommend

I feel so lucky we found Barbara and her company - she and her team are truly talented. At our first meeting, Barbara spent over an hour with me looking at flowers and getting a sense of what I liked. She sent me a comprehensive flower description and price quote days later. About two weeks before the big day, we spoke again and checked in! The flowers on the wedding day exceeded my expectations - they were EXACTLY what I was envisioning (but of course, could not describe myself). Barbara totally understood what I was going for and made my vision come to life. Even better, her price was better than others I spoke to - in part because she has her own farm! I cannot recommend Barbara and Growing Wild enough!

Perfect Florist for Us!

Growing Wild was the perfect florist for us! I was the indecisive bride and did not know what type of flowers/centerpieces/bouquets I wanted for the wedding. Barbara met with us, asked some questions about colors/venue/etc, showed us some beautiful examples, and then (with my permission) took the reins! She created the most gorgeous centerpieces and bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids--even better than I could have imagined! Amazing wild florals for Brunch Wedding

Barbara was amazing to work with - she's a true artist. I knew I liked her the moment I met her. Barbara is a genius, if you give her an outline of what you’d like and let her have flexibility she delivers above and beyond what you can imagine! Incredible results!

We loved working with Barbara! She is so much fun and the result of the wedding was absolutely stunning. She was open and honest: once we gave her our budget, she told us what she could do, and did everything to stay within our budget. We were planning our wedding from abroad, and Barbara made things so easy. After one visit, she understood the look that what we wanted. When we saw what she was able to do on the day of the wedding, we were completely blown away. The arch, the bouquets, the boutonnieres, the flower arrangements--everything was better than we could have ever imagined. Plus, whenever possible, she uses beautiful flowers from her farm, which look great and cut down on costs. I think it's best to just let Barbara do her thing without trying to box her in too much, because the end result for us was truly incredible. She took our half-formed ideas and created something that we didn't even know we wanted.

The most amazing farm and fresh flowers!

I couldn't have been happier with Barbara and Growing Wild's services. I was hoping for lost of dahlias on my wedding day, so I was thrilled to find out that they are the specialty of Barbara's farm and were in season for my October wedding. I loved the idea of using locally grown flowers that were in season rather than paying a premium to order a specific type of flower. In addition I was really grateful for Barbara's guidance throughout the process. She had real insight and advice about what size and number of arrangements would work for my table size and layout. She also totally understood my color palette and style requests. I was in love with the variety of shades and textures in the beautiful bouquets and arrangements. I cannot recommend Growing Wild highly enough!

One of my favorite wedding vendors!

Barbara and her team at Growing Wild are some of the most wonderful folks you'll work with throughout your wedding. Barbara was pretty much our floral fairy godmother. She took all of my ideas and hopes for what our wedding would look like along with our budget and literally made magic happen (she got me peonies and protea in December!).

Barbara was straight forward and realistic about what was possible within our budget while still doing everything in her power to get to where I wanted. A December wedding means you have to buy flowers wholesale and that a lot of the classic flowers aren't and option, but Barbara will help you figure it out. She asked me to trust her and give her flexibility to see my vision through and she hit the nail on the head on my wedding day.

And Barbara was a lot of fun to work with. My fiance and I met her out at her farm in Delaplane where she grows all of her flowers. I wanted to make sure my mom was involved in the flowers as well so she had us back out to the farm over the summer during peak bloom-- that visit is still one of my mom's favorite memories of our wedding planning adventures. In short, Barbara made me feel like she cared about my wedding being beautiful as much as I did, that's something that's invaluable to a bride.

Such a Personalized Experience

We hired Barbara with only a few months before our wedding.
We were in a bit of a panic when Growing Wild Floral was recommended to us as a new option. We had been searching for a florist that prioritized local, and sustainable flowers and up until we met Barbara that seemed like something we weren't going to accomplish.

She gave us a tour of her farm, explained the history of her practice (she clearly has heaps of experience) and then discussed realistic options that would fit in line with our budget and expectations. She kept us updated on her crop status to manage those expectations and asked that we trust her to capture our vision.

We really had our hearts set on sugar mold centerpieces and she worked with us to make it happen. We weren't sure what everything would look like but oh my gosh they were beautiful! The bouquets were stunning, the individual bottles of flowers/greens were the perfect small touch and our sugar molds were show stopping. We've even pressed our flowers (as per her suggestion) so that we can enjoy them forever!

I would highly recommend Growing Wild Floral Co. if you're looking for a unique, supportive and personalize experience for your event!

Exactly what we wanted

Barbara and her team were wonderful throughout our whole process. She came out from Virginia to meet us in DC, which was great and a huge time saver for us. We didn't have a very clear image of what we wanted and she was incredibly patient with us, working through our likes and dislikes thoughtfully and thoroughly. She had lots of great ideas and our final arrangements turned out better than we could have hoped. My only regret is that I didn't get my bridal bouquet preserved, I loved it so much!

Her team arrived to the venue with plenty of time to set up and were extremely easy to work with. All of the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres were fresh and beautiful. The centerpieces were a huge hit and we were able to use them for our brunch the next day.

One of the things that really sold us on Barbara was how respectful she was of our budget. Flowers were not a top priority for us, and she understood that. She worked with us to optimize our budget and make sure that we could get what we needed and wanted for what we wanted to spend. In the end, we came in right on budget and we can honestly say the arrangements exceeded our expectations. We would recommend her to anyone!

A Shenandoah River Wedding

Working with Growing Wild Floral was absolutely amazing. Barbara's vision is just as colorful as the flowers she grows. We had an outdoor wedding on the Shenandoah River and we wanted flowers that reflected the nature surrounding us, wild, green, with some color. The arrangements were made to look as if Barbara had just walked around the property picking wildflowers, and then putting them in jars, and vases, and other vessels she had. The flowers captured the backyard, woodsy, whimsy vibe that was our wedding. Barbara and her team also put together an amazing arch, that had flowers raining down from the cross-rail, as if they were falling from the sky behind us. Our bouquets were stunning. They were bunches of wild greens with pops of color, creating that freshly picked wildflower look. When we had our meeting with Barbara, we got to visit her beautiful farm house, and went over what colors and flowers we liked, but wanted her to use her creative vision to ultimately make the arrangements. Barbara and her team did an incredible job. If we could keep those flowers in vases forever, we would.

Flowers that brought me to tears

Working with Barbara was one of the best decisions. As soon as I met her, I knew that we needed to work together. During our consultation, I showed some ideas that I had from my Pinterest board but ultimately decided that Barbara could run wild and be inspired to create whatever wintery wedding ideas her heart desired. Florals were an important aspect of the wedding for me, as I had always dreamed of fresh flowers everywhere for the big day. Barbara Von Elm and her entire team went above and beyond making my dream come true! Barbara is a professional and it shows in how she operates the business; she asked several questions and kept the conversation honest during our consultation to ensure my vision came to life and stayed within my budget. She is detail-oriented as she asked for height to make sure the bouquets were proportional (something I never thought of!), color scheme for the florals, flowers that were offered in season, and decorations/centerpieces that would allow the most bang for my buck. Throughout the planning process, communication was good and timely to ensure if any changes were made, they were noted. For the wedding day, Terri was wonderful and so sweet as she delivered the bouquets; they were STUNNING, better than I had imagined. My bridesmaids gushed over the color and size of the flowers. The wedding alter floral arrangements were simplistic but phenomenal (exactly what we wanted); the reception flowers were beautiful, and guests absolutely raved about the flowers used and how they were put together. Weeks after the wedding, guests are still complimenting the flowers! I love this company because they grow, cut, decorate, and deliver everything themselves, my definition of a local business! Gorgeous, unique flowers and a wonderful experience

Barbara was fantastic from start to finish. She traveled into DC to meet us rather than have us come to her, and was very thorough with her questions. Her price was extremely reasonable compared to many other florists we spoke with. Neither I nor my fiancee know the first thing about flowers so we each created a Pinterest board and gave her total freedom -- we said we wanted unique, interesting, local, and colorful flowers. She was able to incorporate both of our visions even though they were quite different.

We really didn't know what to expect the day of, and were amazed at how beautiful everything turned out. Our chuppah / mandap and my bridal bouquet in particular were gorgeous. Barbara really went above and beyond. I highly recommend working with her, and if you do, giving her freedom to be creative and interpret your vision the way she knows best.

Dreamlike Flowers Locally Grown

We used Barbara and team for our wedding and could not have been more thrilled. From our first meeting I felt like she truly understood what I was looking for. She grows a lot of her own flowers which allows her to make gorgeous and highly desired flowers more accessible.

I really wanted Dahlias for my bouquet but we were coming up on some freezes and Barbara said, trust me and give me flex and I will give you perfect flowers- and she really did! Her teammate Terri delivered our flowers the day of and went above and beyond to drop the bouquets off at the hotel and hour and half before load time to the venue. I am a type A bride and could not have been more pleased! Even 4 days later the flowers still look great!

Breathtaking

Barbara took my daughter’s preferences for colors and style and created absolute masterpieces. The word “breathtaking” was the most common response from our guests. My fiance and I used Growing Wild for all of the flowers for our ceremony at St. Matthews and reception at President Lincoln's Cottage about 10 days ago, and we can't begin to say enough wonderful things about the arrangements and about the owner, Barbara.
The flowers were just incredible. From our initial meeting with Barbara, we were really thrilled as she pulled our vision together without a hitch. Admittedly, I didn't have the "perfect" flower arrangement in my head that I wanted, so she was incredibly patient with me as we went through my Pinterest page and giving her a direction with colors. Honestly, it was so amazing how Barbara just got it. She took my vision that I didn't even know I had, made it even better and brought it to life!
On dealing with Barbara, we really lucked out. Since about a year ago when we met her, right up until our wedding day, she was terrific and we honestly couldn't have felt any better taken care of (important when you have so many other things going on leading up to and the day of your wedding!). We even were invited out to her amazing farm to see where she grows most of the flowers that she uses and met all of her animals! My fiance and I don't miss a lot about the wedding planning process, but one of the main ones is Barbara and her lovely dogs!
All around A++ experience, wonderful time, and great memories. We couldn't recommend Growing Wild/Barbara more.

Where do I even begin? When we first went out to see Barbara, she was hunting for her lost donkey. We knew right then that we were going to love this woman. She welcomed my Mom and I into her home and made us feel like family right away. I explained my vision (though it wasn't very specific or clear) and she seemed to know right away what I was looking for. As the wedding approached, she invited us back again to talk more about what we were looking for. She told us to give her "flex" and she created arrangements that blew everyone's minds...My bridal bouquet was the size of a small child and overflowing with vibrant colors that were eye catching to everyone. We had a chuppah made of birch which she decorated SO beautifully. She even threw in little extras here and there at no charge. I can't say enough. I didn't even know what a dahlia was 1 year ago and today I want my house to be filled with flowers. I recommend Growing Wild SO so so so so so much!!!

Barbara at Growing Wild is amazing! She created the most beautiful flower arrangements for my wedding ceremony and reception and was great to work with throughout the whole planning process. My husband and I didn’t know much about flowers going in the wedding planning process and ended up meeting with Barbara based on a recommendation from a co-worker. She asked us for our budget and then we spent about an hour talking about colors and flower types. She never tried to upsell us on anything and was constantly looking ways to do more with a tighter budget. For example, my husband and I were very flexible on flower type for the arrangements so this allowed her to cut costs a lot because she could fill in the arrangements with different flowers that she was growing on her farm. Since we didn’t know much about flowers, Barbara made it super easy by going through a ton of pictures with us from both Pinterest and other weddings she has done and having us say whether we liked it or not. By the end of that first meeting, she helped us to decide on exactly what we wanted (even though we went into it just knowing that we wanted pretty and colorful flowers). On the day of the wedding all the flowers arrived on time and looked absolutely beautiful. We received so many comments from our guests on how beautiful all the arrangements were. Barbara was so thoughtful with every little detail – she even thought to provide extra vases so that the bridesmaids bouquets could be used as extra decoration at the reception. I would highly recommend working with Barbara! She made the whole process affordable, easy, and everything turned out even better than I had imagined!

Growing Wild was a lifesaver and a dream to work with. I had a small reception of only 40 people and no ceremony as we eloped and then had a reception after. Most florists didn't even want to talk to me since our reception was taking place in the summer. Barbara was kind, flexible and respectful of both me and my smaller budget. She gave fantastic ideas on how best to stretch my budget and the best thing was I still got exactly what I had envisioned. I could not have been happier!

We loved working with Barbara of Growing Wild! During our initial meeting, she spent a lot of time with us, learning our preferences and vision for the wedding, and discussing with us her initial recommendations. We also appreciated that her pricing structure is very clear on her website, and Barbara is very frank about cost and the reasons for those costs. We gave Barbara a lot of leeway to create arrangements within our vision, and she did not disappoint. Even though Barbara cautioned me that my favorite flowers, lilacs, would probably be out of season at the time of our wedding, she surprised me with beautiful lilacs and gorgeous magenta and white peonies in my bouquet. The bouquets, centerpieces, and floral arch were full of color and beautifully arranged. Barbara is a master craftswoman, and we highly recommend her.

If you want beautiful flowers and a really laid back experience, go with Barbara. She's the best. She'll tell you exactly how much things cost, where you can save money, what's going to be in season, etc. If you're not an expert on flowers (like us), you can just give her your ideas and she'll turn it into something spectacular. Barbara was recommended to us by a fellow District Winery Bride and she and her team were phenomenal. I’m so glad we went with her – she’s a no-nonsense, experienced, floral visionary who makes magic come true. My husband and I met with her to get a general sense of what we needed and what we liked,
and she sat for 2 hours going through hundreds of photos and taking copious notes to deliver exactly what was expected. I especially appreciated that she was realistic about what was going to be in season,
what would be prohibitively expensive, and what would hold up all day through the wedding. Barbara is very different from other florists that I met with. She is kind, funny and easy to work with. Barbara also worked with my budget and offered great ideas. My bridal bouquet as well as the bridesmaids bouquets had perfectly coordinated colors and the textures were stunning and rich. On our wedding day, when I saw our flowers first time I was amazed by her work.
I knew they would be beautiful, but they were more beautiful then anything i ever imagined. We got so many comments from guests on gorgeous our centerpieces and fire place flower arrangements was. I love love loved our wedding flowers! Of all the wedding vendors we had to hire, I was most nervous about looking for a florist, because I don't know flowers at all plus I was afraid we would have to spend a ton of money for nice flowers. After meeting with Barbara, all of my worries vanished. Not only did Barbara spend over an hour walking me through different types of flowers to get a sense of what I liked and didn't like, she also committed to working within my budget without skimping on quality. In the end, she exceeded all of my expectations by putting together a beautiful set of centerpieces for the reception, gorgeous bouquets for my bridesmaids and me, fantastic boutonnieres for the guys, and an amazing piece for the ceremony gazebo. The flowers were such a big hit that some of our wedding guests were taking pictures of the flowers at the reception, and we were receiving compliments about them for weeks after the wedding. I highly recommend Growing Wild and working with Barbara, especially if you're willing to give her "flex" and let her use the beautiful flowers from her garden.

Barbara’s florals for our wedding were absolutely spectacular. I described to her my vision and color scheme and she made it come to life and also added her own creativity (which I highly recommend her doing because she was right on the money with her designs!) Flowers remind me of my late mother so it was so important to me to have them at my wedding as a way to honor her. Barbara made that possible in such an exquisite way, I could not have asked for anything more. Also make sure to plan a trip to visit her farm in Delaplane! That was definitely one of the highlights of wedding planning.

Barbara is incredible!!! The florals and tablescapes she did for my wedding were a work of art. I still dream about my bouquet, which she got just right (I had a vision in my head and she totally understood me). I wish I could have her make me a flower crown for every day of the week! She even included one of my favorite herbs, rosemary, in the flower crown, so that every time I moved I scented the air (I felt like a fairy queen). The floral hoop we got married in front of instead of an arbor was just dripping with peonies, roses, and moss. Not to mention the tree slices with candles and moss that lined the aisle! Just divine!

I am so fortunate that someone recommended Barbara to me! The flowers at my wedding were absolutely STUNNING. Everyone kept saying how much they loved them. Our wedding chuppah was SO beautiful--it looked like something out of a dream.
I came to Barbara with a specific idea in mind--I wanted something very fresh and organic looking. I wanted looser arrangements with greenery. I didn't actually know that I wanted all of that but Barbara helped me understand what I liked about different arrangements.

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Barbara at Growing Wild Floral Co. I had a rustic barn wedding, and was interested in having naturalistic, subtle floral arrangements and bouquets with lots of flowers from Barbara's farm. I gave some guidance on color (mostly colors I don't like), and otherwise pretty much let Barbara use her discretion to create something beautiful- and she did! The flowers were exactly what I wanted. Barbara was extremely helpful and professional and made the process easy for me, someone who doesn't know a lot about flowers. Booking Barbara and her team of florists was one of the smartest things I did, outside of marrying my husband, over my wedding weekend. I am so particular about flowers and color because I used to grow them, but when I would meet with area florists and I would share my color palette and say I wanted a budget friendly wedding with in season flowers, I never really got the response I was looking for. I met with 7 florists. I was at my wit's end until I got a tip to call Barbara. As soon as she heard my describe the dahlias I wanted (from a warehouse colors are VERY limited), she told me not only could she deliver, but why don't I come to her farm and pick out MY ACTUAL FLOWERS. So I get to support a local farmer, and get the flowers of my dreams? Done. The best thing about Barbara though, is that she can handle any personality and any kind of bride. So if you know nothing about flowers, hire Barabara, she can help you out. If you know a lot about flowers, and no one wants to deal with you (guilty...), hire Barbara she can help you out. My flowers took my breath away. It's a month later after the wedding, and the MEN in my family are still talking about how beautiful my flowers were. The men in my family... don't generally talk about flowers. Everybody loved them. And she was also the only vendor who offered to give me exactly what I wanted for the price point I asked for. Here's what I wrote the night of my wedding as a thank you - "The flowers so incredibly blew my mind that I'm not even sure I have the words to describe how pleased happy and excited I was throughout the entire night. I'm writing to tell you that Terri went above and beyond the call of duty today making everything perfect. The color of my flowers and of all the flowers at the wedding proved to be exactly what I wanted. You clearly listened to everything that I said and I cannot tell you just how grateful I am to have had the pleasure of working with you. Thank you for everything."

Barbara exceeded our expectations! I had talked with three florists, and Barbara was best able to deliver on my vision and stay within my budget, so we decided to work with her. We met for two hours and discussed color, flowers, styles, and texture choices, which was great because I really don't know anything about flowers.

My bridal bouquet as well as the bridesmaids bouquets had perfectly coordinated colors and the textures were stunning and rich. When I saw our chuppah for the first time, I was stunned by how much she was able to do with our budget. It was everything I could have hoped for and more! We got so many comments from guests on how lush and gorgeous our chuppah was. It truly looked like something off a Pinterest board! haha. If you give Barbara flex, she can really stretch your budget by using flowers from her garden and recommending seasonal blooms.

Another thing Barbara did which is rare for a vendor is talk me out of going vastly over budget. When I asked about something else, she would say "That's beautiful, but not necessary in my opinion, and I just want to remind you that you are a bit over our discussed budget already. I promise your florals will rock without that!" And they totally did. Sometimes brides need that reminder! haha.

My only complaint is that I had asked her if she had a cloth chuppah topper she could use and she said she did, but there wasn't one on my chuppah day of. I only saw Barbara in the morning when she delivered the bouquets, so by the time I saw the chuppah, she had left. She said she didn't have it in her notes (though I know I mentioned it), so just make sure you address details like that if it's important to you. Otherwise, Barbara was a joy to work with and the florals were out of this world! I definitely recommend working with Barbara!

We are so grateful and blessed to have Barbara and her team helping with our wedding on July 3rd 2017. She brought our vision to live and delivered beyond. I absolutely recommend Barbara! She is knowledgeable, experienced, patient, detail oriented and very easy to work with.
1. Our first consultation meeting was at her amazing farm. Barbara walked us through different colors and flowers, and helped us thinking about different pieces and how they'd fit together. She knows so much about flowers and colors, and we really appreciate her expertise. If you prefer, your event can use fresh picks from her garden with very reasonable prices. I had a specific theme for my wedding, and she was very open to brainstorm ideas with us. This initial meeting was like 2-hour long, and we really appreciate all the sharing from her.
2. Then Barbara requested to meet again at our wedding venue, coz w/ the vendor being new to her she wanted to do some research there. I was just amazed by her dedication and her attention to detail. You can see she loves what she does. She was very engaged asking questions to our venue manager, and also shared her ideas with us. After this onsite meeting, she shared a modified proposal for our consideration.
3. our 3rd meeting was 2 weeks before wedding. She walked us through the details before ordering flowers and decors. Again, very thoughtful and flexible to our needs.
4. The 4th meeting was at her farm a few days before our wedding and after she has ordered the flowers and decors. She walked us through the design with our actual flowers and made sure it's the right color combo we wanted. After introducing us to her lovely mini donkeys Dunkin and Donuts, she headed out to get more flowers to incorporate our feedback.
5. On our wedding day, I didn't worry about a thing, and Barbara took care it all with magic. Our wedding guests loved the elegant reception site designs, and everyone had so much fun with the glowing tree.

We can not rave enough about Barbara Von Elm and her team! Her calming way and wisdom helped us at a time in the process when wedding planning can become overwhelming. So many decisions needed to be made, budgets needed to be set, visions needed to be presented and explained....and when we were still unsure of the answers to some of her questions at our initial design meeting, she said "you know..it's going to be OK..because you know why? At the end of the day, you're still going to be married." At that point, we relaxed and that became our mantra for the rest of the 10 months of planning and whenever we would get stressed...we would say "what would Barbara say" :D So when you hire Barbara, not only do you get her calming nature...but her fabulous talents and eye for floral designs! Meeting with her at her farm with her four-legged assistants was a treat! Barbara takes copious notes and asks for lots of pictures of your vision so she can create the florals of your dreams...but she does ask for some "flex" so she can incorporate flowers she grows in her gardens which we loved because it just added the Von Elm personal touch and helped keep us on budget! Barbara is fantastic! She is easy to work with and actually strives to fully understand your "vision." She will either do exactly what your heart desires or you can giver her flexibility. I gave her the flexibility to use her own flowers (which are beautiful) and just showed her a bunch of photos of themes and colors that I preferred. Terri dropped off the flowers and did the setup on my wedding day -- she was awesome and everyone LOVED her work. Everything was stunning! I highly recommend!

Barbara Von Elm, the owner of GrowingWild, is the absolute best vendor you could ever select for a florist. She is extremely creative, has a very succinct list of questions that she asks to determine your style and preferences, and is interested most of all in making you happy and creating a day you will remember. Since we didn't really know what we wanted, she had lots of ideas and even came in under budget for my daughter's wedding. The best part of working with Barbara is that she had lots of creative ideas about color and composition and even suggested that we not bother with certain arrangements since the wedding was in a garden. Because she relies heavily on flowers she grows in her gardens, her centerpieces and bouquets were unique and did not look like your standard wedding centerpiece. Everyone commented on the flowers and at the end of the night every one of them was taken by our guests - I never even got one for myself. Only caveat - if you are someone who knows exactly what you want and will only be satisfied with that, you could be disappointed - Barbara does want some flexibility but you wont be disappointed.

Barbara knocked it out of the park with our wedding florals!! When I first met with her and announced that all my bridesmaids would be wearing different shades of pink (ranging from blush to rose to coral to fuchsia) she asked me to send her along some swatches so she could see them in person. And wow... the flowers were SO beautiful and had shades of all the different pinks of the dresses. She also provided and arranged flowers for our wedding cake which looked beautiful. The centerpieces were bright and fun and beautiful, but the arbor and my bouquet were just unmatched. They were so gorgeous! I couldn't have dreamed up more gorgeous florals to go with our relaxed outdoor wedding. They were just perfection.

I cannot say enough nice things about Barbara at Growing Wild Floral Co. She is spunky, vivacious, and most definitely knows her stuff. What drew me to Barbara was the fact that she uses so many of her own flowers in her arrangements. It makes the arrangements so unique and natural, as opposed to many bouquets and arrangements that are perfectly round and seem very much staged. I also loved how she helped me see outside the box. As someone who is stubborn and tends to want what she wants, Barbara's ability to get me out of my "peonies all day every day" attitude and embrace flowers I did not know as well like ranunculus, early grey roses, purple lilacs, and cymbidium orchids made the flowers on my wedding day breathtaking and one-of-a-kind. She also knew my venue, the Mount Vernon Inn, well enough to know where certain flowers would make a larger statement. Between the floral arch at the end of the aisle, the posies lining the aisles, the bouquets, and the arrangements on the mantels and tables, her flowers brought my wedding to the next level. I cannot thank her enough for being such an integral part of my wedding day.

I can not say enough good things about Barbara Von Elm! Her flowers so far exceeded my expectations! She was very easy to work with and flexible when we had to make last minute changes. I loved her flower choices and she totally got the bride's vision.

Barbara is simply fantastic!! I dont even remember how I found her, I just know when I did, I knew my dream team for my wedding was coming alive! I remember when I was doing my cake tasting my baker had Barbara's business cards on display and was trying to sale her to me. I was like, "Um been there and beat you to it, I've already got her booked!"

She is so cool, all about everything floral, and is attentive to your needs and budget! She really worked with me and gave me the utmost for my money. I was overwhelmingly pleased with everything she provided for our wedding! My bouquet was bananas!! She gave me wild, crazy, beautiful, unique, and ostrich feathers! Can you say omg!! Then I had intricate centerpieces that needed to be set up a specific way, and she and her team handled everything with care and style and ensured the decor was beautiful. And to top it off, we were the last people to leave the venue. Uber passed by us four times, leaving us stranded on the curb in front of the venue freezing, after every single guest, vendor, venue coordinator and all were gone! Here comes Barbara to hail down a cab for us to ensure that we got back to the hotel! She is phenomenal!!
