About

Chris can provide beautiful classical guitar for your ceremony and swinging jazz standard guitar instrumentals for your cocktail hour. Chris is an accomplished singer who sings cover tunes, jazz standards, and his original music. Chris earned a Bachelor's degree in jazz guitar performance from the University of Maine and a Master’s degree in classical guitar performance from Youngstown State University in Ohio. Chris has enjoyed 30 years of performance experience, playing in jazz, blues, funk, and reggae groups as well as a solo performer of classical guitar, jazz standards, and original music. He also plays the flute quite well.

Pricing is as follows: I charge $500 to play a ceremony. Add $200 for reception as well. If you hire my band New Shades of Blue for reception or cocktail hour, I give a half price discount and only charge $250 for the ceremony music. Please check us out on wedding wire as well. If a boat is required to reach the destination there is an extra $100 travel fee. I can learn just about any song to sing or play as instrumental for $50/song. Difficult classical pieces not in my repertoire will cost more.

I have a good sound system that you can plug your music player or laptop into if you would like. I have both wall powered and a battery powered PA, so if your ceremony is on the beach, no problem!

Fantastic music from Chris Poulin and his band

Chris and his trio were fabulous. Chris provided beautiful guitar solos for the ceremony and his trio played at the cocktail hour. The beauty of the Cliff House was a perfect match to his sophisticated smooth pop and jazz selections. Our guest loved him. My only regret is that we didn’t have him play longer!

Talented Musician!

Chris did a phenomenal job at our ceremony. He was very easy to work with and was able to support last minute decisions and modifications. Chris was more than happy to learn a a specific song we preferred as well.

Accomplished, professional, lovely guitarist for our Maine wedding

We were recommended to Chris by the College of the Atlantic, and will be forever grateful to them. From the beginning, Chris was polite, offered us a large repertoire, included lots of sample tracks, and was both helpful and flexible to our plans. He arrived early on the day of our small Acadia wedding, and hit just the right tone that made our day all we dreamed. Would highly recommend!

Wedding Background Musician

Chris provided delightful backdrop music during our wedding reception. The wedding was on a schooner and he was flexible enough to say he could do that as well if our steel band failed to confirm. Chris offered two guitar types, a range of music and based upon our advance conversations managed to chose a collection of upbeat arrangements ideal to our surroundings. He arrived ahead of schedule, did his setup discreetly, and was dressed fittingly for a reception. It all went very well. I should have tipped him even more!

Icing on the cake

Chris was a perfect addition to our house wedding. His song list was huge which allowed us to create an awesome wedding song list. He also did a great job learning the songs we requested of him. The guitar playing and singing were both amazing. I would highly recommend chris to any newlyweds!

Exactly what we needed

With all of the craziness of the wedding day, I didn’t have to worry about Chris. He had it all covered. Performed beautifully and everyone loved it. Nice to be able to count on him! Photo credit: 5iveLeaf Photography

Chris & Courtney Wedding

Chris was start to finish, 5 stars. From learning a new song for our first dance, to staying an extra hour after he was scheduled initially. His skill and experience are immediately on display when you hear him, but what sets him apart is his attention to detail and communication throughout the planning (I find quick responses to be greatly appreciated). You will have no shortage of options with his wide variety of songs and ability to learn new ones. I would recommend him for any type/size wedding or event.

Our wedding was on a beach without access to electricity so we knew live music was the best option for the ceremony and beforehand for guest arrival. I was initially against the idea of classical guitar because I pictured a creepy greasy guy playing cheesy music. Luckily, Chris is not that guy. His music was beautiful and fit the vibe perfectly. He did a terrific job of fading into the background (and I mean that in only the most complimentary way). From the moment I contacted him I did not have a single worry about my ceremony music, despite all of the challenges that inherently come with hosting a large ceremony outdoors on a beach without any access to technology. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would. Highly recommended.
