The BreakwaterEvents venue is poised on the Southern California Riviera nestled on the Island side of picturesque Dana Point Harbor. Our venue overlooks this idyllic Harbor with its long breakwater and the blue Pacific beyond where boats of all kinds are constantly arriving and departing. Our venue is in good company as it is situated between resorts such as the Ritz Carlton, the St. Regis Monarch Beach, the Hilton Doubletree Doheny Beach, the Laguna Cliffs Marriot and the Montage Resort.
The balmy ocean breezes from the Pacific carry the sound of crashing waves against the Dana Point Harbor breakwater named for 19th Century seafaring adventurer and author Richard Henry Dana, who dubbed it “California’s most romantic spot”, it is the perfect setting for any event.
Both al fresco patios and the Breakwater Ballroom are bounded on three sides by breathtaking water vistas. On the second story patios the soft flicker of our stone fire pits will temp your guests to stay awhile, sip champagne and relax as they gaze out on the colorful parade of yachts and sailboats on the blue Pacific backdrop or gaze off towards Mexico down the Southern California Riviera and the historic San Clemente pier or the famous Western White House above the Cotton’s Point bluffs. Gala events are staged in the Breakwater Ballroom with its ledger-stone walls, travertine flooring, polished granite and chandeliers it embodies the spirit of sophisticated yet relaxed elegance. The steeply pitched ceiling is illuminated by elegant ceiling fans that keep that sea air flowing through the rooms adding to the magic of the event. Mood lighting splashes richly onto stoned walls.
The Ballroom’s indoor space accommodates 100 to 140 guests and can seat another 110 utilizing the outdoor patios. There are two full bars to serve guests one in the ballroom the other al fresco on the patios. Music is played everywhere and we have a comprehensive library at your disposal or bring your own we can pipe it through. There are four large monitors in the ballroom that can be set to play whatever should be required as our audio/visual system is wireless and completely computerized.

Well, what can I say, for starters. Cynthia was a joy. She organized the entire event and all we had to do was show up. And that is how it happened. She managed the decor and ensambles. My daughter's wedding reception was spectacular! August 2018. We had to plan the wedding from the east coast for the past year and Cynthia couldn't have been better to work with in this situation. She attended to every detail my daughter and her fiance wanted. They were both very involved in all the planning and Cynthia's creativity and decorating accumen knocked the socks off the bride and groom and all those attending the wedding. The food was of high quality and abundant throughout the night. We LOVED all the food stations. It made the "traditional wedding reception" a thing of the past in my mind...it was like a five hour cocktail party. The guests loved the flow of food all night, the freedom to move around the venue, being able to talk to people "not at their table", seeing all the "events" easily (cake cutting, etc.), and dancing all night vs being stuck at a table being served multiple courses. We needed special conditions re alcohol and Cynthia made a perfect recommendation that accommodatd those conditions and our alcohol budget. She was spot on. Everyone was happy with the "complimentary" alcohol provided, but had full access to the bar if they wanted something not offered (mixed drinks) for the "cash" bar. All in all, everything flowed all night, her staff was amazing....attentive but "invisible"...the sign of professionals. I can't say enough about Cynthia and the care she has taken with us over the planning year. We were cared for and taken care of during this whole event, start to finish.
