About

Bent's Opera House is a historic wedding venue located in the quaint town of Medina, New York, between Buffalo and Rochester.

Originally built in 1865, this former opera house hosted many high-profile performances during its heyday, including appearances from P.T. Barnum and Buffalo Bill.

However, it was left vacant for much of the 20th century until extensive restorations began in 2016. It now features state-of-the-art technology and all modern comforts, while retaining its distinctive antique charm.

Our Opera House

Bent's Opera House can accommodate up to 150 guests.

Our historic space still possesses many of its original features, including the historic performance stage, box seats, flooring, ticket booths, and mezzanine balcony.

The space also offers modern amenities such as digital lighting and sound systems, a large ceiling projector, and air conditioning and heating systems. Luxurious bathrooms are available onsite, as well as an elevator, to help guests access all three floors, and plenty of parking nearby.

You can begin your day in the fully-equipped get-ready room, before enjoying your ceremony and/or reception in our one-of-a-kind space.

Reviews of Bent's Opera House

Dodged a bullet

We toured Bent’s Opera House multiple times and made our strong interest in a September 5 wedding date unmistakably clear from our very first tour in late November and throughout every interaction that followed. We had repeated conversations, site visits, and received multiple proposals from the event coordinator and general manager, Jaclyn, all centered around this specific date.

Despite months of expressed intent and reliance on her confirmations, Jaclyn waited until after telling us she would be sending our first invoice to inform us that the September 5 date had been released to another couple—without warning, without follow-up, and without giving us any opportunity to secure the date we had consistently prioritized. While an apology was offered, no clear or credible explanation was provided. Instead, the situation revealed a troubling lack of internal coordination, professionalism, and accountability.

Bent’s Opera House is undeniably a beautiful and meaningful space. However, a wedding venue requires absolute trust, clear communication, and reliable stewardship of once-in-a-lifetime plans. Based on our experience, we strongly caution couples considering Bent’s Opera House—particularly when working with Jaclyn—to proceed with extreme care.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
