About this vendor
Jester of the Peace is the officiant for couples who want to be known in their truth, treasure and creativity during their ceremony, and design their wedding around their love story. We cherish your heart's journey into marriage with you and help you express yourselves in a meaningful and joyful way. If being seen, heard and celebrated with your community of friends and family is important to you, we meet you there with deep experience, unique understanding, honor and dear delight. We help you feel uplifted and relaxed on your wedding day.
We work with couples in two ways. We come to you on your wedding day at your venue (for weddings of any size) or... you come to us at HumorVille (for elopements and weddings with up to 12 guests).
We embrace interfaith and intercultural unions, as well as marriage equality.
WE COME TO YOU ANYWHERE:
You write your wedding together with the Jester of the Peace, based on your love story, and in your own words. You can remake traditions, invent new ceremony elements, involve your guests in meaningful ways... the question is not "we're getting married, what do we do" - the question is:"We're getting married, who are we?" On your wedding day, one of our wonderful and seasoned officiating team comes to you, to guide you, cheer you, support you and celebrate you and your community. Your wedding has the spirit you bring to it, from elegant playfulness to sweet cheer.
YOU COME TO US AT HUMORVILLE:
Are you two adventurous, artful and authentic together? Imagine getting married in the middle of an immersive arts experience that's all about self-expression and connection. Welcome to HumorVille, the award-nominated Tourist Attraction for Your Heart in Brooklyn, NY. Designed for elopements and weddings of up to 12 guests, HumorVille gives you a wedding that is unforgettably fun and deeply real. Your ceremony at HumorVille is a journey together through this immersive art gallery, themed for a small town. You'll get legally married in the HumorVille Marriage Bureau, write each other a letter at the HumorVille Post Office that will be sent on your first anniversary, and more. After your ceremony, your guests participate in the HumorVille experience also, including writing you two letters you'll get on your anniversary from your community.
MORE ABOUT JESTER OF THE PEACE AND HUMORVILLE
Jester of the Peace was originally the award-winning wedding officiating business of Rev. Barbara Ann Michaels. Over 10 years and 560+ weddings, she regularly won awards on The Knot and Wedding Wire, many of which you can see here. After pausing during and after the pandemic years, she has now leaned into her career as an experience designer and opened HumorVille as the only pop-up and immersive wedding chapel in New York City. Her Jesters of the Peace are a team of officiants who all have backgrounds in the performing arts and leading milestones, rituals, and creative celebrations.
