An Affair to Remember

My husband and I knew from the beginning that we wanted to hire a wedding planner to make the process smoother since we both worked full time, live in Virginia and were planning a wedding in New Jersey. Eileen was our first of 5 planner interviews and we loved how reassuring she was and her maternal nature. She felt like the most natural choice and I am so glad we hired her. She was very easy to communicate with and very responsive. She did a great job of explaining all that she is able to do with full planning and what we would be responsible for and breaking up tasks into manageable chunks so we didn't get overwhelmed. We appreciated that she was always very patient with us, even when we dragged our feet on getting certain things done. She helped me a lot with some family drama (inevitable to come up when planning a wedding) and supported the steps necessary to ensure we got the outcome we wanted. The week leading up to the wedding was relaxing since everything had been taken care of and all we needed to do was stick to the timeline which is exactly what we wanted, to just show up and enjoy the day. Everything came together so perfectly and beautifully, we truly could not have been happier. Our guests had a wonderful time and could not stop raving about it being the best wedding they'd been to - also one of my and my husband's goals. Eileen really was the backbone to all of that and we could not have done it without her. She knows all the right people for what you need and if she doesn't, she will find them for you. Eileen was hands down the best money we spent on our entire wedding! She is warm, professional, and able to handle any situation thrown her way. We hired her as a “day of coordinator” but she was engaged way before the wedding day, meeting with us several months before to start building a timeline and to reach out to our vendors. Her timelines are impressively detailed and thorough, and she was able to make suggestions to ensure that we could include everything important to us. In the last 6 weeks before the wedding, she joined vendor calls and came in person to our walk through with the venue where she helped guide decisions on décor and menu. Leading up to the day, she handled most administrative tasks, coordinated timing/needs with our vendors, and ran our rehearsal. On the day of her wedding, Eileen and her assistant, Kris, ensured that everything ran smoothly and that my husband and I no longer had to “do the thinking.” We would highly recommend her services!

From the very first meeting, we knew Eileen was the planner for us.

She understood immediately that we wanted our wedding to be about the guests, the people who have supported us and nurtured us our whole lives. She never forgot that throughout the planning process.

She helped us meet with and vet multiple caterers, and her insight helped us choose the exact right one for us. She was fluent in the language of every vendor and she translated our vision into every aspect of the event, staying on top of large and small details alike (table assignments and napkin folds).

We had some unconventional needs related to timing and setup, and Eileen made it all work. Her day-of coordination was essential, too, and our ceremony went better than we ever imagined.

Throughout the process, Eileen was readily available to us and responded quickly to our questions. She explained all the ramifications of decisions we needed to make so that we could feel well-informed to make them. She helped us feel confident and well-prepared for each phase of the wedding, and, most importantly, she helped our guests feel as treasured and special as they are to us.

Eileen was absolutely instrumental to making not only our wedding day, but the entire planning process, absolutely perfect. Whenever we had a question, she would respond immediately and put any stress or worries to rest. On the day of, she made sure the entire flow of our wedding went smoothly, and put out fires constantly, including miraculously removing a sauce stain from my wedding dress! Eileen is nothing short of a miracle worker and is easily the best decision we made for our wedding (aside from saying I do!).

We had less than five months to plan the wedding. From our first meeting with Eileen, we had confidence that she was the person who could bring it all together. With her experience, her knowledge, her attention to detail and her heart, we were able to experience the planning and the wedding itself with joy and with as little stress as possible.

From start to finish, Eileen was very organized, made sure I was on track throughout my planning journey, and on the big day, stepped in on any and every situation almost instantly, to ensure everything ran smoothly. She was quick to jump in on conversations with my vendors where and when I needed, quick to schedule a call or meeting to chat through things, and always super super responsive. She knows what she's doing, and it's clear that she wants everything to turn out well and as perfectly as possible for you! Eileen was hired just a month before our wedding and did an absolutely amazing job. She is incredibly organized, diligent, and on top of everything. From the moment she came on board, she made the entire process so much easier for us. From the get go, she was a dream to work with - answering our many questions and offering her advice at every opportunity, which provided us with instant relief and a moment of fresh air in the chaos that can be wedding planning. When we needed input on vendors, Eileen was there; when we weren't sure where to even get started on XYZ, Eileen was there; when we ran into an issue with our venue the week before the wedding and needed to craft a strongly worded email, Eileen was there; when it rained on and off all day ahead of our ceremony, Eileen was there (tying bows on the chairs no less). At every opportunity, Eileen was there to help things run smoothly and give us the ability to just enjoy our day. My husband and I were referred to Eileen (An Affair to Remember) through our catering team who promised us that we'd be in great hands with her. After having spoken with several other planning teams that had rigid packages or weren't able to disclose costs in a transparent way, we met with Eileen. We immediately felt comforted! Starting from our first call, she was organized, clearly a seasoned professional, and was kind enough to work with us to come up with a planning package that fit our needs (we had already booked several main vendors, but still had some planning to do and needed day-of coordination). Her pricing was very fair. She was everything you want in a planner/coordinator - quick to reply over email, quick to hop on the phone to coordinate with other vendors and resolve issues, kind and gentle with us when felt anxious or when we were behind with tasks. We were planning a wedding in NYC and we live in California, and she was willing to meet at later hours (so generous) to adjust for the time change. On the day of the wedding, we felt so at-ease. Her team did an outstanding job. She kept calm with anxious family members, somehow lugged around a large tote bag of my personal items from hotel to church to reception, helped us navigate wedding transport in mid-town manhattan (!!! not to mention with our church ceremony running longer than expected), and magically appeared everywhere right when we needed her, including a quick dress change (and neatly packaged my personal things as I ran out to do my first dance). I'm forever grateful to Eileen for helping pull together the best day of our lives.
