We had a beautiful wedding in Dinwiddie VA and hired Leslie and her team for our reception. They outdid themselves in every way! The appetizers were amazing and the dinner was delicious! They had a difficult space problem but you never would have known - so incredibly flexible and creative. Would highly recommend A Sharper Palate!

I worked with Jagger at Sharper Palate when we were searching for a caterer for our wedding. I also asked a few friends around town who are in the events and wedding industry if Sharper Palate was as good as they seemed, and all of the feedback was overwhelmingly positive; the general feedback was you will get exceptional service and they are pros (and, the food is amazing).

But, my first interaction with Sharper Palate's customer service was with Tina, who handles accounts and payments. She happened to answer the phone that day and had such a kind disposition. She answered my questions and helped ensure my request was received for a follow up call from the catering manager. When Jagger contacted me he was knowledgeable, prepared, and extremely patient considering all of my questions. We had multiple conversations over email and on the phone, and he provided me with two customized quotes out of those conversations.

In the end, the groom and I had to make some tough decisions about our wedding day catering style versus number of guests we could afford to feed but wanted to have at our wedding. We made the tough choice to forgo working with Sharper Palate, but it had everything to do with our own budgeting choices and nothing to do with the value and level of service provided by A Sharper Palate. Compared to other caterers, they were right in line with pricing, but also seemed to have an edge up on the level of service we were going to receive and for a competitive and fair price; the staff they were providing for our event would have ensured quality and efficient service, and compared to other caterers the line item for staff was perfectly reasonable.

Overall, I was so grateful for their time and attention during planning that writing this review was the least I could do since we had to forgo our original catering plan. If you choose A Sharper Palate your event will be well-staffed and you will receive thorough and tailored communication.

A Sharper Palate stepped in at the last minute to cater my son’s wedding (their original caterer flaked out). They put together a wonderful menu in record time. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I highly recommend them.

Shaper Palate was an impressive and effective collection of professionals. In particular, Carter Aines our point of contact was an absolute game changer for us, due to unforeseen circumstances we were dropped by our original caterer. When our wedding planner put us in contact with Carter, we were immediately put at ease by her candidness, compassion, and willingness to support us. They were timely and prepared, and they made my partner and I feel valued and prioritized. We were impressed by the variety of options they had for appetizers, salads, main dishes, sides, desserts, and late-night snacks (highly recommend the mac ‘cheese bites). We were also impressed by the top-to-bottom consistency in terms of quality. For our dinners, we had their room-temperature bistro beef and creamy herb chicken with mushroom and they were both absolute show-stoppers. We had people talking about it for a couple of days after. While I understand that other options may be cheaper, I believe that the human element in Shaper Palate and their focus on quality and variety makes up for those differences and then some.

The food was executed amazingly, the team was seamless behind the scenes and our guests raved about different dishes. Well done by the Sharper Palate team!

The service and food were exceptional!

One major deciding factor in choosing a caterer was that the food really had to stand out, and A Sharper Palate definitely delivered that for us! We had a medieval themed wedding (we're big geeks, and my husband got to wear an awesome sword!), and Jaeger was Incredibly patient with me in finding serving pieces that fit our theme. They even added roses here & there, around the cake and serving pieces, to enhance the look of everything. They really went that extra mile, and when it was all over, everything left was boxed up for us to bring home (yay, leftovers while we recuperated from all the wedding craziness!). The brisket was AMAZING, and I loved that the pasta salad had the optional cheese on the side, for our lactose intolerant guests. The vegetables were perfect- still crisp and flavorful, not limp & soggy, even two days later (kept in the refrigerator). I honestly couldn't choose a favorite between the hors d'oeuvres, veggies, pasta & the brisket. Their caramelized onion & mushroom pinwheels, and brown sugar, fig and walnut pinwheels, and wrapped brie were all absolute heaven!

I have never felt compelled to write a review for anything before, but feel an urge to yell from the top of a mountain about our amazing experience with Leslie and her team at A Sharper Palate! We cannot thank Leslie enough for being such an integral part of our wedding. Due to unexpected issues with our original reception site, we were quite late to the game and only reached out to Leslie a mere four weeks before the wedding. She was unfazed and went into action mode. She was proactive, decisive, and an excellent communicator. We worked virtually across different states, but she went well above and beyond her role in countless ways. She not only helped us craft a perfect menu but was instrumental in helping us navigate all rentals on an extremely short timeline. Quite simply, there was nothing that we had to worry about on the day of the wedding – everything went perfectly without the slightest hiccup. We felt so supported by Leslie and were grateful to be able to relax with our guests; we have nothing but positive memories of our day. Her professionalism, attention to details that never would have occurred to us, and overall communication were so incredible, and we will be forever indebted. Our guests are still telling us how memorable the food and bar at our wedding were! We hope she keeps doing what she does so that other people feel as happy as we did.

Carter was so responsive and patient. She was willing to talk through things over and over again until we had things just right. Literally everything they served at our wedding was incredible. We have had SO MANY complements from guests about the quality of the food.
