Hiring 74 Events was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We heard about 74 Events through our photographer. Gary connected us with DJ Ben Carlin, who was perfect for us. Gary and Ben were very professional and responsive leading up to the event. Gary was our main point of contact and was great to work with. We loved his smooth workflow. We had a couple of zoom meetings, phone calls, and filled out a worksheet. They were accessible and helpful when I made last minute changes to the parent dances and speeches. The process was smooth, professional, and gave us great confidence leading up to the wedding. On the actual wedding day, Ben was amazing. He worked great with us and the rest of our vendors. Our other vendors and guests commented on how great Ben was. Ben was calm and immensely helpful when we lost power during our tent wedding and was helpful in us still being able to have music and dance the night away using creative means. Ben showed expertise in his craft as he somehow kept playing the perfect songs that had myself and guests dancing the night away.

Five stars aren’t enough for 74 Events and our DJ, Dre Ovalle.

From the planning process through the last dance, everything was handled with incredible professionalism and attention to detail. Gary guided us through multiple planning calls and a detailed music worksheet, and we met with Dre twice before the wedding to make sure he truly understood our vision.

Our families love to dance, and our music preferences span multiple decades and genres. We provided a 20-hour playlist, and Dre transformed it into an unforgettable reception. He perfectly balanced honoring our requests with reading the room in real time. The result was a packed dance floor all night. One guest said afterward, “We literally didn’t want to leave the dance floor because it was banger after banger,” and we couldn’t agree more.

We also incorporated several personalized moments, including a duet with my dad, a choreographed first dance, the hora, and other special dances. Every transition was smooth, every cue was perfectly timed, and everything felt effortless.

When the reception ended, our only wish was that we had booked more time because no one was ready for the night to be over. Dre and the entire 74 Events team delivered beyond anything we imagined, and we would recommend them without hesitation to any couple looking for an unforgettable wedding reception.

We cannot thank 74 Events enough for making our wedding day—and especially our dance floor—so much fun and so incredibly special! Dan was an incredible DJ and truly went above and beyond. Our friends and family were raving all night about how much they loved the music, and we had an absolute blast on the dance floor. So many guests told us afterward how epic it was. We give so much credit to Dan for creating that kind of energy and keeping everyone dancing all night.

One of the most special moments was when Dan played "If It's The Beaches," the song my husband quoted in his vows. We didn't realize until the next day that Dan had picked up on the song from our ceremony and played it intentionally—we had assumed we provided it until we went back and realized we didn't! This thoughtful detail meant so much to us and was such a perfect example of how much care Dan put into making our day feel personal and special.

Gary was also incredible throughout the entire planning process. His organization, communication, and coordination made every step so easy and enjoyable. Everything was seamless, and we always felt completely taken care of.

The entire experience with 74 Events was everything we wanted and more. We would recommend Dan, Gary, and the 74 Events team to absolutely anyone looking for a wedding DJ who knows how to keep a dance floor packed while also making the day feel personal and unforgettable.

What can we even say?! DJ Dan Chaves from 74 Events was the perfect DJ for our June 2026 wedding - we had such a blast, in large part because of his attention to detail and vibes of the crowd.

From the start of the ceremony, through cocktail hour and the reception, to the dancefloor - there was never a moment that Dan wasn't on top of it. It truly felt like he heard everything we discussed in our planning meeting and brought it to life. Several of our guests commented on how amazing the DJ was, which is simply a testament to Dan for reading the room/dance floor.

An actual text message we received the day after our wedding from one of our guests: "The dance floor last night was soooo fun. I haven’t danced my a** off like that in a long time."

Gary, the owner of 74 events and who was our main point of contact -- he was an amazing partner to work with. His level of communication and organization put us at ease immediately. The fact that he paired us with Dan worked out perfectly - he truly nailed it when you said he'd be a great DJ for the wedding we were planning. The ease of working with 74 Events was an incredibly smooth process. Gary and Preston seamlessly coordinated everything in advance and we greatly appreciated their timeliness, attention to detail and follow-through.

Following the wedding each of our guests highlighted how the DJ and dance floor were a massive success. Our DJ, Preston, did a fantastic job curating a playlist for us, infusing his artistic elements with smooth transitions that propelled the energy on the dance floor from one song to the next, and naturally MC’ed at moments, making the evening that much more memorable. We also noticed how nicely Preston implemented our requested music starting from the very beginning during the cocktail hour, through to when the dance floor burst open.

We unequivocally recommend 74 Events and Preston as a DJ. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Gary and James were so great to work with. We had a wedding for 140+ people and everything went off perfectly. The intros for the speakers during speeches was professional and smooth and then the playlist for the dancing was exactly what we had hoped for. The team did a great job taking song suggestions from us and building off of it. If you want to have a fun party and get people dancing hire these guys!!

We cannot recommend 74 Events and DJ Dre highly enough. Dre absolutely crushed our wedding.

We asked for a pretty eclectic, cross-cultural mix, and he understood what we wanted better than we could possibly have curated ourselves. From fun, danceable Latin music early in the night, to pop and classic dance floor songs later, to full-on drum and bass/rave energy at the afterparty, every part of the night felt completely us. They even coordinated a move and a second dj setup for a seamless transition from our reception to after party.

The dance floor filled up faster than we have ever seen at a wedding and stayed packed all night. The mixing was excellent: transitions were cool and noticeable when that fit the moment, and subtle and seamless when that was what the song needed. Somehow the whole night felt coherent even though the music moved across a wide range of genres.

The afterparty was a huge highlight. Dre brought exactly the epic late-night energy we were hoping for while still keeping the crowd included and engaged. He also worked incredibly well with our sax player, and the DJ/sax collaboration felt effortless, fun, and electric.

74 Events and Dre helped make the party feel personal, high-energy, and unforgettable. We are so grateful we had them as part of our wedding.

The entire process with Gary and Dan was so incredibly seamless. From the very first meeting to understand what we were looking for, all the way to final delivery, Gary and team were so professional, organized and responsive. Gary, logistics extraordinaire, provided clear direction on how the entire process would work and promptly answered any questions we had as well as provided all of our speakers with helpful resources on how best to use the speaking equipment. Dan, our DJ, knocked everything out of the park. He listened to exactly the vibe we wanted to curate and the playlists we had put together and he executed the most perfect music vibe for our big party that we could've asked for. We had multiple guests tell us he was the best DJ ever and he read the room so well. There were barely any butts in seats the whole night because he created the most welcoming and fun dance floor vibes. 10/10, would recommend, you will not be disappointed!

Gary is extremely professional and responsive. Through a series of calls and emails he finds out exactly what you and your spouse are looking for and finds you the perfect DJ to match your vibe (our DJ was Vida, who was exceptional). You'll work with Gary and the DJ to execute the vision and he & the DJ do a perfect job. they're professional, cool, great at their jobs, easy to talk to, excellent price, the list goes on. if you're in NYC i'd definitely go with 74 events.
