Weird Monogram?
Alright so, I love the way monograms look at weddings, but I'm afraid our names won't work very well.

My initials are AK and my fiance's initials are BB. So any monograms we make will be A&B or B&A or have a double B. A&B just always makes me think that C, D, E, F, G... should come next :)

Does that seem like it will look weird or is this just me?

B and A would be the traditional way to do it.

I would go with B&A. Are you taking his last name? b/c you could always just use the one letter...
My fiance and I share the same last initial so we thought about just using that as a monogram if we have one.

I agree with Libellule. bBa. It looks so pretty in different fonts. Just do the B in slightly larger font and it can look really classy.

Thanks girls!

cathasach: I am taking his name, but I feel like my family/ his family (super sweet people, probably don't know what a monogram is) would ask me why my FI's initial is all over everything. lol

Hi Mandi,
I love monograms also! There are many different design options for your personal monogram.
Idea 1. Using two different fonts -Place your new last initial in the middle in a beautful script font and place you first names on either side in a block font(or vice versa)
Idea 2. Again two different fonts-Place your last name in a beautiful script font and this time place your first initials above and below your name.

Just two ideas that I hope will help. Many other options are available . I hope you will have an opportunity to browse my site www.rebeccawellings.com for ideas. I carry many beautiful invitations and offer up to 30% discount for online orders. Do not hesitate to contact me if you find something that I can help you with.

Best Wishes on all of your wedding plans!

I am doing monograms as my theme and as our cake topper, I have cTe. I made the middle initial my new last name and it came in a large script. The c and e came in smaller letters. Monograms look really classy. I absolutely love them!

Monograms are the hottest trend in weddings, but sometimes the lettering doesn't always work out exactly the way you'd like.
How about trying a heart in the center of your two first initials?

Here is an example of a swarvoski crystal cake topper:

I say go with B & A. With the right fonts you should be able to arrange the letters beautifully. My name starts with a "D" and my hubby's name is Eddie so his is "E". Well I did just the two letters "E" "D" as our monogram and after it was completed my mom kept asking me why does it say "Ed" as if it is all about him...lol. I mention this little story to let you laugh a little bit and to know that it happens to the best of us. My mom is definitely one of those people who don't get the whole concept of having a wedding monogram but trust me, the design looked great and served its purpose well. If you're creating your own monogram, just experiment with different fonts to get a look that won't be "weird".

DDD-I love your monogram designs! I wound up creating my own with a double oval around it. It turned out pretty well and I just need to convince my FH that just because it's trendy doesn't mean we won't like seeing photos of our wedding cake with a monogram topper years from now. He's fine with all the stationery stuff (invitations, favors, programs, table numbers, etc.) having the monogram but can't quite accept the cake. I'll have to paint it on the aisle runner as a surprise I guess.

My fiance and i were going to do a monogram, but then we found this place through a friend who used them www.designingalegacy.com where they will create a new family crest type thing for you and your husband. They look really cool, they can even put it on a wine bottle for you. Check it out.
