My dress is in help!!!
I am so nervous b/c I quit smoking and in 5 months gained 10 pounds. My family and friends are coming today to see me in it for the first time. What if it doesn't fit I will cry

Most dresses need some kind of alteration to them at some point, so don't worry about it at this stage. Even if it doesn't quite fit today, there's no reason why it won't by the time of your wedding. June is still a long way away. Your family are coming to share your joy at your dream dress - they won't care or even notice if it might need a bit of tweaking. Let us know how it goes.

Just relax, I am sure you will be fine. Your friends and family will love it if it fits or not. If it does not you have plenty of time for alterations.

first of I want to say a big congrats on quitting smoking. I quit a while back and boy was that hard. My husband is trying to quit now but his self control is not a good and so far he is having bad reactions to all the stop smoking drugs. That was a big step you took and you did a wonderful job. The weight is just a temporary side effect and as long as you are determined to loose it (and it sounds like you are) it will be gone in no time. Go into the fitting with your friends and family with that mindset and you will be able to look past that side effect to the beautiful woman in a beautiful dress.

Don't worry about it! The fact that you quit smoking is way more important than ten pounds and that is no easy task! Besides if necessary you will have plenty of time to loose it if not all you have to do is get it taken out a tad. CONGRATS!!!

Congrats on quitting smoking, I know that takes a lot of will power (Exhibit A..LOL) I hope all goes well for you and I agree with ppl, even if it needs "tweaking" your family is not there to judge you, I am sure they are very proud of you, and if you do need to have it altered, then so what? No one will laugh at you or anything, they are your family and they love you! Now go show off your dream dress!!!! ;)

oh i'm sure it will look amazing on you. don't worry! and if it is a little snug or it don't quite fit well for you by your wedding it will be perfect. please don't cry if it don't fit. it's just a dress and it can be made to fit.

Congrats on quitting smoking, that is a major milestone.. I agree with the rest of the girls, your wedding is still a little ways off and 10 pounds is not that bad, just picture yourself walking down to your FH and think of all the love you are recieving from him and your family and friends.. You will look beautiful

Congrats on quitting smoking!!! I did the same thing in July It was a little easier because I am only 23 and I only smoked for like 6 years....So an extra congrats for you...I know it's hard and I to have gained weight and dependent of food instead of cigs. My dress was a tad too small when I purchased it and now I gained 5 lbs. Thanks for the post.... I would love to hear updates about the weight loss because I am way too scared that it won't happen for me!

okay - so here's some practical advice :) I'm absolutely positive that you will be able to drop that little bit of extra weight. but in the event that you don't, here is something that saved me on my wedding day. for my undergarments - i purchased an honest to goodness lace up the back corset. Let me tell you, you can take a good two dress sizes off when you have someone (my mom!) really cinch you in tight. The plus side - it also acted as a great back support - my dress was pretty heavy, but I didn't have a problem at all holding my back straight! Ha! Even better, my waist was cinched small and my "girls" were high and proud. And my husband's face when he saw that lacy looking get up - garters/stockings/lace up corset - priceless!! Getting out of it was SO much fun ;)
