Is lace still okay?

Last night my FH and I decided to push the wedding date back from April 17th to September 26th, so we could save our pennies for something a little more formal. Problem is, it went from a spring wedding to a fall wedding. Which means I have to scrap everything and start all over. (My colors were pale purple and sage green. Now they're eggplant and silver.) I'm even starting all over on trying to find a good dress. I'm really partial to lace though, despite the more contemporary colors we've chosen. Is lace still acceptable for a fall/formal wedding? Or do I need to look at other fabrics? Have you seen any fall dresses you would recommend? (Note: I'll not be wearing a white dress. I want...*ahem*...Ivory/champagne. I'm the traditional one in that respect.)

Why do you have to change your colors? You can use those in any season.

Hi Carmen, i wish you all the luck as far as colors and lace it doesnt mater what season your haveing your wedding it all depends on what you like most... what you fav colors and what your fav dress so dont mind about the season its your day any you can have it any which way you like... as for lace i love lace i think it is do elagent and beauteful... so GO FOR IT!!!

I think I've found the dress I like. What are your thoughts? Will it go alright with silver and dark purple as my colors? I just see ivory as a more conservative color (despite the implications) and silver/purple as more contemporary. Oh Carmen! That dress is gorgeous! That would be an amazing dress for any season, but I think will be extra special in fall. It will go beautifully with your colors too.

Lace is classic. My wedding is also in September and I chose a lace dress. You can choose a more contemporary design if you like but when I look back at my grandmothers and great-grandmothers wedding dresses I see lace. The dress my grandmother wore in the 50's is much more wearable today than my aunts trendy dress from the 80's.

I think that it really doesn't matter if you are still getting married here in Florida because September is still considered summer here. It is still in the high 90s during September and sometimes in October. So you can have fall or summer, which ever you like and yes lace is still in if that is what you, the bride, wants!

Lace is timeless and great for any time of year! My dress has lace and beading on it, and i LOVE it!

@ vallynn: Actually, since we're holding it off until September, that means we're going to have more money for a venue. The main reason we were doing it in Florida is because the ceremony and reception venues were both free. But now we're planning to do everything in Atlanta, where I live now.
