DIY~I strassed my own wedding shoes using genuine swarovski crystals and saved a TON of money!

E., on June 29, 2011 at 1:37 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 144

Here are my wedding shoes that I DIY strassed myself using E6000 glue and 5 different sizes of swarovski crystals in AB.

I also bought a bow shoe clip from etsy and strassed it as well to go with the shoes.

I actually used real Christian Louboutins for these, but only because I fell in love with the real Fifi Strass from Christian Louboutin that sell for $3,000. I was NOT going to be able to afford it for that amount, so I decided to just DIY it for 1/3 of that price.

First pic is of the shoe, sans bow. Second is with the DIY bow I made (it's a shoe clip, so you can remove it or wear it in a different location). Third pic is the work in progress (for those of you who are confused as to what I meant by "DIY"~Yes, I added the crystals myself. It took a total of 40 hours for the pair, and 15 for the bows)

Those are pics of christian Louboutins. The designer makes shoes EXACTLY like that. WHy would you buy a regular pair of Louboutins to dedazzle them yourself and the plain shoes are upwards of 6-700 dollars.

They're very nice shoes but my Steve Maddens cost one-sixth of those and do the same thing. lol

To me $1000 is vacation money but hey to each their own. Smiley smile

They are beautiful! I'm with Chuwana though, I couldn't put glue and stuff on my CL's. The leather is way too awesome.

So why are the bottoms red on these??? Did you buy Louboutins and put the crystals on??? cuz there are cheaper versions of those shoes. My glass slipper has a nice pair. Anyway if you really did those yourself great job. How long did it take? And what tips/guidance can you offer for anyone thinking of doing something similar? Where did you get the bow?

IF you can afford to buy a pair of CLs, you wouldn't go and potentially ruin them by glueing crystals to them. You have chosen a much less expensive shoe, or just bought the real ones the CL makes. Sorry, but I call BS...

Gorgeous, great job!! I think I actually prefer them without the bow clip at all. You can wear those bad boys again and again after the wedding!!

Um... I'm a little confused... are you claiming that you did the crystals? It looks to me like you bought the Christian Louboutin encrusted silver Pigalle Pumps and just added the two bows. It doesn't make much sense why you would by the CL shoes to do a dyi project if you reason for the dyi project was because you couldn't afford them in the first place.

Candice: strassed means to crystalize (to make the shoes all sparkly) :o)

I think she did do these on her own--i did a google image search for the actual louboutin strassed shoes and the crystals on the real ones are bigger and look different than these. at least in all the photos i saw.

i myself wouldn't try to diy such an expensive pair of shoes, but i think esther did, and more power to her, because they look AWESOME. (:
