Kevin and I hired the Jim Bowie Band for our wedding and they were wonderful! They were so easy to work with and even learned a new song for us to dance our first dance to. They played tons of great songs and got everyone up dancing and singing along. At one point the dance floor was so packed people were dancing on the carpet! Thank you so much Jim and gang - you helped make our reception a huge hit!

I'm really not sure how they could have been any better.

We contracted the Jim Bowie Band to play at our reception after reading their excellent reviews and receiving a quick response to our inquiry e-mail. My fiancee and I drove out to Poolesville one evening to see them play at a local restaurant. We wanted to make sure they had the proper combination of musical talent and persona that is so important to keep the party going at the reception.

Let me assure you right now: they do.

If you're looking for a heavy metal band or a band that plays nothing but cheesy Top-40 pop, I would probably tell you that they aren't the band for you. But if you're looking for a band that has an extensive catalog of music everybody knows and songs people love to dance to - combined with great personalities that help keep people involved in their performance, look no further.

We asked them to alter their set up time to accommodate our location: no problem. Didn't ask us a single question on the wedding day - just figured things out and got set up.

We asked them to play our first dance song from a CD instead of performing the music: no problem. One of the band member coordinated with us for the proper time to start and another one used their sound system to start the music right on time.

We asked them to play a bit more quietly while dinner was going on so that people could converse: no problem. They were really quite good at selecting music that could be played at a lower volume. We could talk with no problem at all at the tables and still enjoy the music that the band was playing.

We asked them to be the emcees for the evening, announcing the various "big moments": no problem. They had a schedule we provided, they hit it right on time. They planned their breaks around different situations, announced our toasts, cake cutting, significant dances and when it was time for dinner.

We asked them to let a cousin of the Bride sing a special song for us: no problem. The lead singer of the band even sang harmony with her and it was beautiful.

The after-dinner part of our reception went for about 3 hours and the dance floor was full. The whole time. People we had never seen dance before were up there dancing. When the band played their final song of the evening, the dance floor was still full and everyone gave them an ovation for their performance.

Now, two months after our wedding, we still get compliments on the band. "They were really incredible. Kept everybody dancing.", "You couldn't have chosen a better band for the audience and atmosphere."

Consider them. Go see them if you feel the need (it's a good idea generally to make sure your personalities match the band and their catalog well). Then pick them - you won't be disappointed.

The Jim Bowie band provided the entertainment for our wedding and we could not have asked for a better experience. Jim was very responsive and accommodating during the planning. He provided a huge set list for us to browse and asked for our music preferences. He offered to learn new songs and even offered to let a friend play with the band for a song if we had anyone who was interested. He was quick to respond to both emails and phone calls. He proactively organized with the reception venue and the other vendors without us even having to ask. On the day of the wedding the band was on time, setup in a jiff and self-sufficient.

All of the members of the band were professional and certainly accomplished musicians. They had a good sense of what music to play when. They kept it mild during the cocktail party and when it came time to dance, they had the dance floor filled. They could really rock!

We received lots of compliments on the band and would book them again without hesitation. If you are lucky enough to have them at your event, you and your guests are in for a great time!

The Jim Bowie Band is AWESOME! I wasn't too sure about booking them because we had already a Dj for the reception, so I thought spending money on a band when you have already a Dj was a waste of money, BUT, it wasn't! Every single dollar was worth spent on this wonderful band, and they are actually very affordable, trust me, I shopped around for bands and all of them were very expensive. We went to see them playing on a 4th of July festival, I knew half of the songs (because I'm Mexican) but my American husband said: We have to have them!. My Mexican family and I danced as much as the American people! They kept the crowd on the dance floor, and I was sooo thankful they learned a Mexican song for our first dance, it was beautiful!. Everybody told us we did a good job picking the band, and everybody thought we spent a lot of money on them! We highly recommend the Jim Bowie Band, don't even think about it, get them! get them! Music makes a big difference on whether your guest and you will have a good time or not at your wedding, WE HAD A BLAST! They even made us forget about the hurricane just hit that day!... We're still hearing compliments about "that great band!" from our guests. You guys really made the reception special - everyone keeps telling us how much fun they had. People who never dance were on the floor having a blast!

The Jim Bowie Band is AWESOME! I know that it's not uncommon for bands to learn new songs for weddings, but we really through our band for a loop. "Our song" is obscure to say the least. Anyone heard of playing Ween at a wedding? They learned it and played it perfectly. We could not have been more pleased. The band had a wonderful report with our guests all night long. The space for a band was not ideal but they set up and played all night without a complaint! Their cost was low compared to many bands, but they were world class musicians. The food and band were our top priorities for our reception and the Jim Bowie Band exceeded our expectations by a ton!
