I am appalled at the lack of care and unprofessionalism that we were shown. I received an email at 11pm, two days before my wedding, that outlined the details of our wedding day. After reviewing the information, I noticed that the time was incorrect. I responded to the email letting her know that the time was 5pm not 4pm. She doesn't respond until after midnight and stated that I had never informed her of this time change and it poses a problem as she had another event at 6pm. She would not answer my phone calls but would email me back. The day before my wedding, the only message she would send me is that she would recommend another officiant but she is still trying to find a solution to the problem. The person she recommended had never heard of her. I was very upset as I had chosen her because she told me that she never books more than one event in a day. I was confident that I could depend on her. I asked her to explain in more detail. I didn't know if the other officiant would receive the money I had paid or if I was expected to pay someone else after already paying $250.Again, this is the day before my wedding. She only responds the same statement that she sent previously, recommending that I call this other officiant who is available. This other officiant didn't know who she was and was not available. At this point, I'm upset and state I expect a full refund since she did not show up for my rehearsal. All she can respond is that we are not due any sort of refund because I should have called with the time change and filled out a new agreement. This information would have been useful when I emailed her the time change three months prior to my wedding and she just responded "I look forward to seeing you and your fiance". I also told her when we first signed up with her that I was not sure of the time exactly, and she told me that would be fine. She never brought up the process for how I need to change the time, nor did she recommend in her email that I needed to do anything else. She was the most uncaring person that I have ever met. I have learned my lesson, make sure you read the fine print.

Events on a Shoestring made it very clear in the initial meeting and in our cancellation policy what the process was for any changes to the ceremony venue, date and/or time.
We require notification in writing and confirmation must be provided confirming acknowledgement of any changes to the original event location, date and/or time.
Emails are not always the most reliable option for communicating important information since our office receives hundreds a day.
As a result, the cancellation policy was implemented to resolve such problems.
The time of the event was changed and not clearly communicated until the day before the ceremony. Although, the change was going to conflict with another event our Officiant had scheduled. We were working on arranging for another Officiant to perform the cermony and took the extra step to provide another Officiant Service should be unable to accommodate. We had another Officiant scheduled to perform the ceremony when the client emailed and cancelled her Officiant Service.
She did not allow us the opportunity to fullfil our commitment. Which we would have done although it would be with an alternate Officiant.
As a result of the clients cancellation our policy is very clear on the refund policy when a client cancels.
Events on a Shoestring certainly understands the stress a bride and groom are under in preparation of their wedding but in this instance the bride hastily discounted our ability to provide the services they agreed upon.
We were fully able to provide her with an alternate Officiant to perform her ceremony and Rehearsal.
In all the time, Events on a Shoestring has been providing Officiant Services we have "NEVER" failed to fullfil our obligation and have always provided 100% of the services promissed.
