What is included in a wedding catering package?

Your wedding catering may be provided by your wedding venue, or you may want or need to hire an outside caterer. What are the different ways to serve wedding reception food?

When determining your wedding food cost, a big factor will be how you’re planning on serving the meal. There are a few serving style options for weddings:

Plated: Otherwise known as a sit-down meal, your guests will be served their meal at their table by a member of the wait staff. There may be a single entrée option served or several entrée options, which your guests can either order in advance (usually on their RSVP card) or at the event. My husband and I used Chef360 for our wedding on 11/22/25. Kimberly and the team were so easy to work with, everyone was kind and so accommodating. I wish I could eat the food the chef made every single day. I’m vegan and got a special tofu and rice plate that was AMAZING. The guests had a pasta station and beef tenderloin station, and everyone complimented the food all night. There were also gluten free and vegetarian options clearly listed for those who needed it. I requested a cranberry orange infused water and it was better than I even imagined. Kimberly made sure I had the gold cutlery and antique-style water goblets I wanted, and literally everything was perfect. I highly recommend Chef360 to anyone looking for a caterer!

It’s hard to know where to start in sharing our amazing experience with Palmetto’s Catering for our son’s wedding party. First, Teri was great to work with. So knowledgeable and helpful in planning and organizing the event. Not only the food but the room, tables and design. As for the actual food, it truly was amazing. Palmetto’s is known for its BBQ and oysters but their offering is so much more. We had heavy hor d’oeuvres instead of a sit down dinner. Their selection of menu items is expansive and they nailed each and every one. From the Cajun chicken brochettes to the Tiramisu. Appetizer table with cheeses, meats and fruits. The presentation of all was beautiful while they maintained freshness at all times. Their on site staff at the event was exceptional too. Very professional and attentive to all our needs. Last but not least, the value for what we experienced was great. Thanks again to Teri and Palmetto’s Catering and Event Center for helping to make our party special for our son and new bride.

Wowwwwwww! Amber, Jasmine, Dustin,. Zeek, and Theresa all provided the most professional service, mouth watering dinner and desserts! And the grazing table was phenomenal! Communication from Amber throughout the process was the best I’ve ever had from a vendor in my entire life. They all took care of our family and friends for 3 days. Rehearsal dinner, wedding night and brunch the following morning. All made from scratch and with love. There are not enough stars in the sky to rate them properly. We were blessed to have them and honored they were at our wedding. They treated us all like family. I give them the highest recommendation possible. You won’t be disappointed.
