About
"Wait! Here comes the crescendo!"
In short time, the members of The Vendetta Big Band have become well known in their hometown of Austin, Texas. Although, Austin is known for its' love of rock and blues, it also features a strong jazz scene with bands playing everything from modern to classic and standards. The band was born from musicians coming from other jazz outfits in Austin to form a project that doesn't single out one performer over another. "We really felt like we wanted to see a band that truly was the sum of its' parts," said lead singer Drew Bennett. "We love working together and when you work together, that's when good things happen. We've got solos in the music...not in the band." The Vendetta Big Band is built on the heritage of The Great American Song Book performing '30s, '40s and '50s jazz and swing. With songs like 'Come Fly With Me,' 'Ain't That A Kick In The Head,' and 'Orange Colored Sky, the band takes an audience back to Tin Pan Alley with a fresh new look. The line-up is as follows: Michael Rey - Music Director/Trumpet; Drew Bennett - Lead Vocals; Owen Summers, James Martinez, Robert Perkins - Sax; Javier Stuppard, Jon Merz, Martin McCain- Trombone; Derrick Becker; Victoria Sanchez - Vocals; Mike St. Clair, Derek Tarnow, Zach Knox, Jed Leach - Rhythm Section. The band continue to move forward with new recordings in 2011, a cameo spot in an upcoming film and a winter tour through Texas. Bennett see it like this; "The Vendetta Big Band are a bunch of young guys who love playing jazz standards. It's timeless music with a fresh take. Martinis, Highballs, Mad Men type of stuff. Come see us. You're in for a treat."

I Love Big Band Swing! Give me a little bit of Jazz standards & I am happy! Vendetta has one of the best sounds for swing these days. This kind of music is fun to dance to or just sit & have a conversation with family & friends. The grandparents will like it too. I wish there were more musicians like this around.
