Skin care and makeup tips for a flawless face, timeless beauty
Start a skin care regimen and stick to it. Don’t wait until a week before you walk down the aisle to show your skin a little TLC. A basic skin care regimen consists of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin daily. An exfoliant or mask should be used at least one or twice a week to buff away dead skin cells.
For dry skin that needs extra hydration, find a
hydrating system to create your skin’s perfect moisture balance. If controlling shine has you worried, a
balancing system helps equalize and combat oil for skin that is balanced and hydrated. For combination skin, choose a system that will care for both the oily and dry areas of your skin. Rejuvenate your skin once or twice a week with an exfoliant or mask to sloughs off dead skin cells and accelerate your natural exfoliating process.
Lastly, get facials and waxing done at least two weeks before your wedding day. If a breakout results, it will easier to cover up.
Here Comes the Bride
There is a difference between everyday makeup and the type of makeup application that will enhance your wedding day photos. Wedding day makeup should be classic, not trendy. Keep eyes, lips and cheeks simple. Other tips to consider when deciding on wedding day makeup:
• Time of day the ceremony is taking place. Nighttime weddings are more formal and warrant a more sophisticated look. Daytime weddings are more natural.
• In or outdoors. Outside lighting is strong so makeup needs to be soft and natural.
• The lighting. Different lighting calls for different makeup. Nighttime lighting tends to show less so stronger makeup is needed. Day lighting again goes more natural. Candlelight shows more gold on the skin so shimmer and gloss can be utilized to soften the face. What is the lighting like for the reception? Florescent lighting tends to wash out the face and cast a green tone.
• The color of your dress. Ivory and off-white tend to make the skin look softer so a more glamorous makeup could be used.
• The neckline of your dress, the length, the sleeves. A good rule of thumb: The stronger the neckline, the more sophisticated the hair and makeup should be. The shorter the dress, the more simple the hair and makeup.
• Use a long-lasting, matte foundation and end with a dusting of pressed powder.
• Avoid heavy eyeliner as it only makes your eyes look smaller.
• Waterproof mascara is a must! Make sure your eye makeup remover also takes off waterproof mascara.
Finally, remember you are creating an entire picture on your wedding day. You want to look like yourself, as classic as possible, so that your photos are timeless. You want your soon-to-be spouse to recognize you when you walk down the aisle. And you want to look and feel very beautiful. It is your day.
