Nadia Pessoa is a professional harpist and one of the DC area's most sought-after performers for weddings and receptions. Currently the harpist with the United States Army Band, she frequently performs throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, and can provide elegant music to accommodate any size of event and budget. For more than 20 years, she has been providing the soundtrack to countless weddings, receptions, and special events.

Nadia is a graduate of Indiana University, one of the nation's most prestigious harp programs, as well as the University of Michigan, where she earned her graduate degree. She has performed throughout the US, Europe, and Brazil, entertaining audiences at distinguished venues including NYC's Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, the Kennedy Center, the US Capitol, the State Department, and the White House. She has performed for notable guests including George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, Vice President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Ms. Pessoa can be heard on the recording of William Bolcom's Songs of Innocence and Experience, under the direction of Leonard Slatkin, which won 4 Grammy awards in 2005, including "Best Classical Album," and was invited to film an episode of the reality show My Fair Wedding for the WeTV network, featuring celebrity wedding planner David Tutera.

Will you help me pick out my wedding music?
Absolutely. Part of the fun of working with my clients is coming up with a program that perfectly complements their wedding. My repertoire includes a wide variety of styles, from the most traditional wedding marches to other baroque and classical pieces, contemporary love songs, jazz ballads, celtic & folk music, and even R&B. One of my specialties is arranging songs for harp and other instruments, so I am happy to take special requests. All of my clients receive personalized playlists with recommended songs in their chosen styles.

Do you charge for travel expenses?
Travel and mileage is included for events in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area. I also travel to Delaware, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Contact me for rate information for your event.
