About

It all began in 2001… when Kat got her first job as a workroom assistant at Orlando Theatrical Supply and a first-hand look at theater and television. Although the costuming was intriguing, it was the makeup that really sparked her interest. It was there that she met one of L.A.’s top makeup artists who had recently relocated to Central Florida and was recruiting artists for her newly formed company. Kat’s creativity and skill earned her an internship and then a permanent spot with the team.

Over the years Kat has worked with some of Central Florida’s best makeup artists and honed her skills in makeup artistry for television, production work with Disney, and events such as weddings, proms, and Quinceañeras. She also gained the unique skill of airbrush artistry. Now that Kat has started her own business, she continues developing her skills and expanding her clientele. She has also taken a more active role at Carolyn Allen’s, her family’s bridal and formalwear boutique, including organizing and styling their semi-annual fashion show and photo shoots for their advertising.

Kat views makeup artistry as more than simply applying cosmetics. For her, it’s all about creating and styling an entire look that will make her subject look better than ever. She puts a great deal of thought into melding her clients’ ideas and requests with her own so they are not only happy, they look better than they ever dreamed. From natural looks to retro movie star glamour, weddings to production work, Kat’s talent and eye for bringing out her subject’s beauty and style is second to none!

An important Note from Kat the Artiste & Co.

It has recently come to our attention that a competitor has registered a web
address that is very similar to ours in an attempt divert our site’s traffic
to their site.  If the web site you go to changes to anything other than
www.kattheartiste.com, then you have been diverted to an impostor site.
While it is somewhat flattering that a competitor feels the need to go to
such lengths, we hold our work and business practices to a high standard and
feel that it is important that you are aware of this deceptive business
practice.

Glam Lashes!

How to Apply False Lashes!

It is said that the 'eyes of a person serve as a window to his/her soul'. While this statement might or might not be regarded as true by all people, it is surely a fact that whenever we look at a person, it is his/her eyes that get our attention at the very first instance. Probably, this is the reason why females use so many makeup items to accentuate their eyes - eyeliner, mascara, eye-shadow, highlighters, and so on. One of the most popular eye accessories comprises of false lashes, which enhance the overall appearance of the face as well.

Putting On False Eyelashes

Supplies Needed

Mirror

Fake Eyelashes

Scissors

Tweezers

Eyelash Glue

Eyelash Curler

Eyeliner

Mascara

Directions

First of all, check out whether the fake lashes are the same size as your eyes or broader. In the latter case, use a scissor to trim them from one side. Always cut lash by lash, so that you do not end up trimming more than what is required.

Take some of the eyelash glue and spread it on a flat surface. Hold the eyelashes with the help of tweezers and run their edge along the glue.

Now, gently blow on the eyelashes, from edge to edge, so that the glue gets set, somewhat.

Still holding them with tweezers, place the lashes as close to the baseline of your own eyelashes, as you can.

Applying slight pressure press the fake eyelashes, from end to end, and then hold them in place for 30 seconds.

After the glue on your lashes becomes dry, apply dark-colored eyeliner (say black) to cover the line of the fake lashes.

Making use of eyelash curler, give a more natural look to your eyelashes and follow it with mascara application.

Tips

Even if you are planning to apply individual lashes, the directions mentioned above will work well. Just remember to start applying them from the outer eye corner and move inwards.

You should remove the fake lashes with the help of the special powder given along with them. Otherwise, you can make use of a wet cloth, dipped in warm water, or petroleum jelly for the purpose.

If you want to retain the shape of your fake eyelashes for a long time, make sure to keep them in the original packaging, after every use.
