About

Wedding photography represents a significant investment, but one irreplaceable as a photo-documentation of the once-in-a-life-time emotion and events of your special day.  We take seriously the responsibility and expend a lot of effort to give you our best, every time.

We blend photo-journalism with traditional portraiture, but we do prefer a unstructured, ‘real’ look unless requested otherwise.  Those small details, planned and unplanned, capturing the moments as they happen, and the richness of the event are all very important to us.  Ginger-Kathleen does the formal portraiture, and prefers warm, color saturated looks with dramatic or diffused light when possible for a romantic statement.   She also finds getting the right angle makes a world of difference in the appearance of the subject, and understands those who hate being in front of a camera.  Shots of the bride that show her true beauty are very important

The wedding photography package includes previewing the wedding and reception site to plan lighting and advise you of possible issues, as well as a pre-bridal or engagement portraits because we believe it’s important to establish a relationship and familiarity with the bride and groom prior to the wedding day. When taking a portrait, it positively affects the expression of the subject’s eyes.  Our goal is for your comfort and relaxation in front of the lens, so your personality shows through.

Wedding day coverage is full-day up (usually up to 7 hours, to start and end when you request it. Usually this starts with the dressing, and covers all the way through the reception).

$1200 includes coverage, 2 photographers, 2 proof DVDs, (a DVD featuring over 700 4x6 or larger edited .jpg prints, like your negatives), your selection of up to 75 enlargement-ready digital negatives on CD or .jpg files for enlargements.

Tips and Advice

Selecting a photographer:

Thank you for considering Elijah Park Photography for your special photography needs.  We try to see every event with fresh eyes, looking for the moments and expression that are uniquely you, showing both outer and inner beauty often never captured in photographs before.

Ginger-Kathleen is especially un-photogenic and uncomfortable in front of a camera, so she has great understanding of how important setting you at ease and capturing you as you really are is.

Every event is very different and while you may be in love with a picture you’ve seen and want to recreate (and it is important to share this with us so we can understand what your wishes are), the lighting, location and subjects are incredibly unique.  What you are selecting from is the photographer’s “eye”, as evidenced by a cross-section of samples you should see, that you like the style, perspective and detail expressed by their work, as well as general overview of quality of work.  Be sure you see a real event, not just the highlights or best shots of a photographer’s album or portfolio, which for many decades has been the standard procedure.

The next factor to consider is the photographer’s personality and compatibility with your style.  Many times the photographer will be in your field of vision and your comfort or discomfort with that person and the situation will be clearly expressed.  Posing and lighting are the primary considerations of creating an image, but the real soul of the picture in portraiture is expressed by the subjects’ expression of the eyes.

This also is why we include pre-bridal, engagement or personal portraits to be taken prior to the wedding in our wedding package, so we work out the communication and get comfortable with each other prior to the wedding day, when you want to think about YOUR day, not dealing with a demanding photographer.  While it is necessary to dedicate some time to us to create the romantic images, our goal is to make you as relaxed, and to be as unobtrusive as possible, on your big day.

Also consider the value of what you get.  Wedding photography is a significant investment, and photographers can price a mixture of two ways. Photographers make their wages 2 ways, either by charging an up-front fee and keeping the print prices reasonable, or by charging a very small fee for the photographer, and then having significantly more expensive prints and products that you’ll need to purchase to be able to fully appreciate your memories.  We believe that it is best to charge an upfront fee, and invite you to consider and compare pricing the whole package.

A deposit of $100 is required to hold your date and is non-refundable.  The reminder of the fee is required by 10 days prior to the wedding.  Arrangements for Credit Card payment are possible.
