Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture

What do your packages include?
Albums, Digital Files, Flush Mount, High Resolution Images

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Our cameras can handle very low light, which comes in handy for the churches that do not allow flash. We are experts in using ambient and natural light but also experts in utilizing off camera lighting. We set up both stationary and mobile lighting at your reception and post-ceremony portraits in order to gain full control over the light.

Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital

How many photographers do you work with?
There are 3 partner/photographers plus 2 additional photographers we can call on for assistance.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, all events are guaranteed 2 photographers. Usually it's 2 principle photographers (out of the 3 partners), but if we are all free, you will sometimes get all 3 of us shooting.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
The only service we double book is our Photobooth service and that's only because we have hired staff that can run it without us.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes, and we guarantee the photographer will be a seasoned professional. But this almost never happens because there are 3 equally talented partners available to shoot your wedding.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Various fixed (prime) and zoom lenses, all of our cameras, off camera lighting (flashes and strobes), enough memory cards for all the shooters, batteries for all the various equipment, extension cords, etc. We are ready for action!

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, definitely. Out of 2 shooters, there are usually 3 to 4 cameras available and if there are 3 shooters, that's 2 additional cameras. We also pack batteries and chargers and lots of memory cards.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
Our wedding packages included unlimited hours for the wedding day.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Our hours are unlimited on the wedding day, but if we need to shoot additional non-wedding day (i.e. rehearsal dinner, post wedding brunch), we will discuss fees as needed.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We require a dinner break of 30 minutes if the client is providing the meal. If a meal is not provided we will need 45 minutes to an hour in case we need to leave the reception venue.

Do you charge for travel?
We will travel within Hampton Roads and Williamsburg for free, but Richmond, Northern VA and beyond require transportation and lodging fees.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Four to six weeks.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
We prefer to meet in person to display proofs, but in case of time or distance issues, we will upload them to a private viewing site. The client also receives a DVD of images to keep.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
DCPG retains copyright on all images we photograph. Clients are granted unlimited personal usage - commercial usage is strictly prohibited.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
If the client wants to submit the photos to wedding inspiration blogs or magazines, we're totally on board, we just ask that you work together with us prior to submission.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes, we provide mid-resolution digital files (printable up to 5x7") but we may move to high resolution in the near future.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, all weddings will be uploaded to a secure website for both viewing and purchasing.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Flushmount albums in 10x10 and 8x8 sizes and Photobooks in the same sizes.

When will the client get the final album?
Due to individual design and the queue of orders, albums typically take four to six months to complete.
