You announce to your family, your friends and to the world that you two will become one.  Whether witnessed by a small, intimate gathering or a joyous crowd attending your gala event, this ceremony is an affirmation of your lifetime promise. 

When you select me to officiate at your wedding, you receive so much more than just an officiant to legitimize your union.  I will meet with you before the wedding so that I can prepare a unique, personalized marriage ceremony. I will advise you regarding elements of the ceremony such as readings, songs, rituals and traditions.  I will guide you in preparing your very own personal vows of commitment.  By the time your very special day arrives, you and everyone who witnesses your wedding ceremony will sees a reflection of the true light of who you are, as individuals and as a couple, and what your marriage vows mean to you.

Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?

Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
Yes, I am available to perform weddings at the site of your choice.
 
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
Your ceremony is custom written just for you. I work closely with each couple to be sure your ceremony reflects your beliefs, your love and your commitment to each other.
 
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
I encourage couples to write their own vows, and will help them to do so. I also don't insist that they do.
 
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
I have an extensive library of resources for the couple to choose from, and I am also thrilled for couples to find their own very special readings.
 
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
I do not.
 
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
I can be available for rehearsals.

Additional Questions and Answers

Where do we start? 
We will set up a time to meet, to get to know one another. I will ask you a lot of questions about your relationship, how you met, your vision for your life together and about your vision for your unique ceremony, your desires and needs. I am here to listen and synthesize your desires into a ceremony that is right for you. I can make many suggestions as to rituals, wording, blessings, formats, and readings appropriate for your special day. Together we will identify your wedding style, be it religious, non-religious, intimate, fun and light, theatrical, non-denominational, formal, traditional, or non-traditional.
After our meeting, the two of you take some time to decide and discuss if I am the right minister to represent you on your special day.  If so, we begin the process of creating your personal ceremony, the ceremony of your hearts desire.

How do you come to this work?
I have long been passionate about rituals and am honored and blessed to officiate at wedding ceremonies. I am Reverend Joy Burke, an Interfaith Minister, educated, ordained and legally registered to perform ceremonies for couples of all religious and spiritual beliefs. I have been officiating at wedding ceremonies for seven years. I have created and preformed ceremonies for couples from the wide diversity of paths. 

Can you refer us if you are not available?
If I am already booked for your wedding date, or if you have special requirements for your ceremony, I have a large network of officiates that I refer couple to.

I have had the pleasure and honor of working with several couples planning destination Saratoga weddings. I am happy to work out the details with you long distance, and am happy and excited to make your Saratoga Wedding a great event.

Where and how much? 
I am available for ceremonies anywhere.
I live in Saratoga Springs and also have a home base in Manhattan.  I am willing to travel up through the Adirondacks and down to the Jersey Shore, or anywhere in between. 

The fee for your wedding is dependent on location and travel time, as well as preparation time.
